  1. What would be the best sub to use with Khorns in a 2 channel setup? Is there such a beast? Thx, hoggy

  5. I'm done. Just cannot afford any more. Now if I win the lotto I may change my mind. hoggy
  6. Mines my signature. hoggy
  7. Agent 99, Barbra Feldon. Think I spelled her name right. hoggy
  8. One Of my Khorns seemed to have a buzz like the one you descibe. It was a picture on the wall above the speaker. I would have sworn that it was the Khorn so check closely for that kind of stuff as was already suggested. Sound has a funny way of fooling you. hoggy
  9. I recently traded up from my Belles that I bought new in '76. It was a hard decision and for a while I thought I made a big mistake because to me the Belles sounded better. That is until I got the bass bin sealed, nailed plywood to the floor and other little things one has to do to make the Khorns sound proper. It was a lot of work but was fun too. If someone wants to upgrade and think it's just a matter of shoving the Khorns into a corner than they had better think twice about doing it. If on the other hand you have the patience to do all that's needed it's well worth it. At least that was my experience. Purhaps others had a easier time. Of course if someones 1st speakers are Khorns they might not now how the Khorns should sound. But if your upgrading from Belles or LaScalas be prepared to do some work. Excuse my ranting on. hoggy
  10. Sure hope my networks don't get lost in that mess. hoggy . )
  11. Is that a short block in the living room. Bet that gets a lot of WAF. hehehe hoggy
  12. I don't think you can actually hear a tweeter clip unless it's when it actually blows. Besides it's the amp that's clipping not the driver. At lweast I think that's how it works. The Tandberg amp I used to own had clipping light indicators. When they'd just barely light I never heard anything sound funny. Of course this was a indication to turn the darn amp down. hoggy
  13. Well I guess I should take my statement back. If the people who own B&O TT's like them and say they have good bass, I am no one to argue. I have never owned one. Just have listened to a couple of friends of mine many years ago and remembered the bass never compared well with the CJ Walker table I owned at the time. There are many factors that influence how TT's sound. Suspension, and tone arm are the most important. Again I appoligize if I spoke too soon. I'll shut up and let the people who own B&O speak their piece. hoggy
  14. Does B&O still make TT? Stay away from the older lateral moving arm ones. They don't produce bass well. If they make new ones I have no clue. hoggy
  15. As long as you found what you wanted. That's all that counts. Was glad to try to help. hoggy
  16. I have on occasion peaked over 300 watts and have not blown a fuse. The key is very clean power. McIntosh meters are pretty darn accurate. My amp has a hold feature on the meters. I use it when I want to listen loud. Seeing how the watts double for every 3db increase of sound it's easy with the right music to peak this high of power. I agree wholeheartedly with the statement about ears bleeding if the power is NOT clean. If one is putting 80 watts continuos power into their hearitage speakers they are probably peaking in the 300 watts area which is very, very loud. hoggy
  17. Actually any kind of gasket material should work. I suspect it's only there to keep from buzzing from vibration. hoggy
  18. space-cowboy, Here's the link. Hope it works. http://www.welbornelabs.com/vampconn.htm Just make sure you get the ones for a barrier block. 8 for $6.50. hoggy
  19. Can't seem to find the site/link I bought mine from but if you do a search for barrier block spades you should be able to find some. The ones I bought were for 10ga though. They're 1/4" btw. I'll try again to figure out where I got them. hoggy
  20. Actually they look like the gaskets that are in a normal water hose. Wonder how close to the right size that is. Who knows, maybe pick a couple up at the local hardware store and see if they will fit. hoggy
  21. I don't personally think one can wear out any heritage speaker. The Belles I purchased in 76 were not babied at all and they were still going strong when I traded them for 71 khorns that have no problems. If something should fail in them parts are still easy to get. Heck I have a friend that has had is NON Klipsch speaks reconed twice in that time span. hoggy
  22. Hey rtaylor, Work in the Seattle area has been very slow for the last 2 years+++. Hope it's better where you're at. I have a friend in N.J says they've been busy though, they can't seem to get the metal on the east coast he says. We have metal here just no work. Go figure. I've done this mod to the 76 Belles I owned before trading them for my presant 71 Khorns. Even though they both had AA networks the networks themselves were of differnt caps etc. Al has helped to show how to do the mod on both styles now for anyone who want's to take advantage of this very easy to do mod. Thanks again Al hoggy
  23. Can't go wrong with the MC352 either. Was playing the 1812 overture the other day. When the Canons fired the Mc used all 350 wps. Scared heck out of me (1st time I listened to the album (Telarc)just purchased on Ebay). Who says you don't need a good amp with overhead? I'm glad I have it. And yes my woofers are still in tact and my windows aren't broken out. hoggy
