Where can I get replacement networks? My existing crossovers look like junk - I'd love some new, beefy crossovers ala McIntosh - I'd hate to think of what it would cost to commission McIntosh to make me some custom X-overs.

Hope it's clearer, now Daddy. It's a pain uploading more than one file on this forum, and then pasting the hotlinks manually for each. Actually, the perspective on the CF-4 is distorted in the cross-over's favor. The tape measure is sitting on a cross brace a few inches closer to the camera than the crossover. The whole unit is maybe 2" across by 3" wide - it's smaller than just one side of the Mac crossover. The XLS-320 is a bookshelf two way system with an 8" woofer. That's why I'm saying - it's shocking how overbuilt the crossover is, with massive coils and cap. I'm thinking that the Mac could run day in, day out, at rated power, like a Pro speaker, whereas the CF-4 crossover would deteriorate under such usage.

Our AudioKarma group went on a McIntosh factory tour yesterday. Ron Cornelius of McIntosh showed us a beefy crossover that had been freshly built IN AMERICA, IN-HOUSE, by Americans in Binghamton NY. Is this for a massive floorstanding speaker? Nope, this is for one of their SMALLEST bookshelf speakers the XLS320 which weighs a paltry 23 pounds, and stands just over 15" tall. Now I was curious, so I popped a woofer out of one of my CF-4s this morning and took a photo of the crossover network... Mind you, the McIntosh is rated for 250 watts continuous, the CF-4 for 300 watts. Just ONE of the McIntosh coils is larger than ALL the components on the CF-4 crossover combined. I have the feeling that running the two speakers at their rated power for 24 hours straight would slag the crossover on the CF-4, while the Mac would be runnin' just fine!

Don't forget - these same salespeople will also give you a song and dance about Monster Cable too. If I'm gonna drop 2 or 3 large on a TV, it sure isn't gonna be at some mass-market store like Best Buy which often is staffed by nincompoops. I'd gladly pay a premium to go to a real audio/video store with knowledgable sales people.

Alright, ALL speakers are sold AND shipped!!! Here's the RS-25's before I put them in the truck for their trip to the UPS store... Now, all speakers are enroute, with tracking numbers pm'd or e-mailed to the buyers. I believe all 3 sets of speakers are in Buffalo tonight, having completed the first leg of their cross country journey. Thanks, everyone! What a great forum - this was a heckuva lot easier than Ebay. With that said, I'm actually a bit sad to see the RW-12, RC-25, and RS-25s depart. They were my first quality home theater speakers, and introduced me to the world of 5.1 sound and Klipsch! I just didn't understand what I was missing with two little Pinnacle bookshelf speakers when watching DVDs. At any rate, I can console myself with the knowledge that I'm on the verge of achieving Celestial nirvana with an all-Epic home theater.

Ok, sale pending on the RS-25s. Here's a photo of the RW-12 and RC-25 about 5 pm today before I loaded them in the truck to take to the UPS Store. The beginning of their journey to their new homes. Thanks, guys!!! Oh, and don't worry. I taped those boxes up at the store.

Just a quick update - the RW-12 and the RC-25 are sold. The RS-25s are still available.

And last but not least, the RS-25 surrounds.... As I said, the only imperfections are scratches on the back metal hanger plates from fishing them onto the wall screws.

Now, for the RC-25... The small white specks are lint from my cleaning cloth. The only imperfection that I could see was a slight amount of "feathering" along the top left rear edge of the cabinet.

Sorry, guys. I never checked this thread, as I assumed you'd send me PMs and e-mails. My apologies! At any rate, the only speaker that's spoken for, tenatively, is the RW-12. The RC-25 and RS-25s are both available. As promised, I'm attaching photos of all three starting with the RW-12 so the potential buyer can see what's he's purchasing... As you can see, there's one small nick in the back edge of the cabinet. I had never noticed it before prior to bringing it outside. Included with the sub is the original packaging, manual, and Klipsch folder. Also, since I've no need for it, an 8' Tributaries subwoofer cable that I paid ~$55 for.

That's comical. Neither of my cats ever showed the slightest interest in the workings of the toliet in 15 years, or really any other household appliances. You'd think the cat would get bored and move on to something else. My cat Spot used to jump in the tub, get behind the shower curtain, and swat through the curtain as you walked by. He loved that game.

Just an update - I should have posted my asking prices yesterday. I had zero time yesterday - sorry for the confusion! RC-25 - $150 RS-25s(pair) $175 RW-12 - $300 PS - all the speakers are black finish. PPS - All prices plus insured shipping, which I haven't investigated (I'm not sending ANYTHING without insurance, and I will take photos of the items when dropped off/picked up) Rowe Photo called me - the RW-12 is fixed already (just a minor rattle inside the rotary volume control). So I can get some photos of anything you're interested in by Friday or Saturday. Jim

What great troubleshooting advice - no sound, or barely audible sound from speakers MUST mean one needs a larger amplifier and larger gauge wire. Especially since if its Bose, the whole thing is a bundled system with matched speakers, wire, blah blah blah. Even the most hideously inefficient speakers I could conceive should push at least 70-75 Db for a one watt input.

Since I'm building my Epic Home Theater, I'm selling all of the following on an individual or group basis RC-25 Center RS-25 Surrounds RW-12 Subwoofer. All have the original boxes and manuals. The RW-12 was purchased new on 12/13/03, the RS and RC-25s on 12/29/03. They've been in a smoke free, child free home. The RW-12 hasn't really been used much at all since March 2004 when I aquired my CF-4s. They're in very good condition except for some scratches on the black metal bracket on the back of the RS-25s from placing them on wall mounted screws - those scratches absolutely cannot be seen when the speakers are placed as designed on the wall. The RW-12 is currently at Rowe Photo in Rochester for a minor repair - ever since new, the volume control has a mildly annoying rattle when very deep bass notes play - It's done it since new, but wasn't quite annoying enough to justify lugging it back to the shop. But since I'm selling it I wanted it to be in perfect working condition. If anyone is interested in one or all of the speakers, make me an offer via PM. If there's no interest, I'll be placing them on Ebay in a few weeks. Thanks.

Marem, I'm curious, why do you want to swap KLF-30s for CF-3s? Looking at your current system profile, your 5.1 home theater is perfectly matched. The CF-3s are also smaller than the KLF-30s, so its not really an equal trade.

LOL - Consumer Reports also says that Blo$e are the best speakers for reproducing deep bass or some such nonsense.

I bought my 2205, in superb condition, from this seller. I'd have every confidence in buying these from him.

The first thing I'd be doing is trading that lemon in. Even a race car shouldn't require all that constant tinkering with this, that and the other thing. I'm thinking this is a relatively new design engine/drivetrain - GM seems to have these kind of problems with new or unproven designs - it's like they develop these things to 90% ready and then foist them on an unsuspecting public. GM really sweats those details, don't they?

Make sure you get a KG speaker, preferably a KG-3. Don't settle for a speaker that doesn't match. Been there, done that.

If you could go with either an 18 or 15, bigger is better, at least judging by those Ascendant graphs. Go with 18. The 18 appears to dig 4-5 hz deeper, and has 3 db more output at 20 hz than the 15. If I was choosing, that's all I'd need to see. For home theater, the deeper the bass, the better.

A suggestion - try taking the radio to the store where you plan to buy an MP3 player and make sure everything works before buying. I can't imagine them not obliging your request - if they don't, find another store. Good luck

Well, you should be able to plug your MP3 player's headphone or auxillary output into the auxillary input of the DeWalt. I would imagine it would work fine.
