  1. Had no problems on a PC running XP with SP2 and Microsoft Works (don't have Word on this machine). Did "Open With" and it popped right up. Resized the maps slighty and it printed with no probs.
  2. Tim, welcome to the forum, lots of info here from folks with years of experience. My first Klipsch purchase was the RF-35 and associated surround hardware, one generation earlier than your RF-83s. From your description you are happy with your choice. Klipsch is hosting a get together at their corporate headquarters in Indianapolis in a couple weeks and if you could make it I'm sure you will have a great time and meet many of the forum members. This gathering has been alternating between the Indy site (engineering and corporate) and the Hope Arkansas site (fabrication of the speakers made in USA) for several years, and this year it's in Indy. Affectionately refered to as "the Pilgrimmage" in posts here on the forum. Dates are Friday and Saturday, June 22 and 23, with a mixer on Friday night then tours at the Klipsch facility on Saturday. Check the posts and if you're interested I'm sure you would enjoy!
  3. Looking forward to meeting folks in person and also hope some more local gatherings can be planned as we all head back home.
  4. I orderred sub cables and bulk Belden wire for surround wiring from Blue Jeans in June 2006 and they had good email replies and the cables were as advertised. Not the same as what you are getting but a data point on their quality. they also met their ship date.
  5. Jeremy - I am in St. Louis. How far from my location is local to you?
  6. Possibly discussed awhile back, will someone be putting together a video again this year?
  7. I caught a portion with Wynton Marsalis, if the entire program is that good it is worth watching!
  8. Any update on these Fortes? Post or PM with any details......
  9. Carl, thanks and you are definitely on my list! Lots of "to do" stuff right now, but I do want to hear your new horns. Question for you, SVS related. You have a cylinder sub, PCI? I have a PCU. I've had it since June 2006 and have been basically afraid to set it much above 3 on the volume knob. Then, for my Denon AVR 1804 sub output level, I've occaisionally ventured from a level of 2 up to an outlandish level of 4. For movies this sounds great. But for music I was not getting much bang (for the buck, the PCU new is/was not cheap, have not checked what SVS has now). The other day I got crazy and set the Denon output to 8. Set the PCU volume knob to 4. Then set it to mid-point which I think is 5. Whoa! I now have bass on regular radio and CDs! One thing I'd like to consider if I get back down your way is to "roll" the PCU into my back seat and see if you think it is working OK. More volume certainly helps, but for long term listening, this is the only sub I've ever been exposed to for more than an hour or so. How are you running your cylinder? Not directly applicable of course, but just curious.... Hey, I had a great time at another forum member's house, Cal Blacksmith on the outskirts of SE Los Angeles a couple weeks ago. Super nice guy. He runs Hereseys, Cornwalls, Fortes, Quartets......... I have the Heritage bug and have been eying what's left of my old vinyl lately........
  10. Pictures and pricing? Are these the 12 inch or 15 inch woofers?
  11. Hello, you have PM Re: the Pilgrimmage list......
  12. Ear - Wonderful acoustic guitar, the guy is amazing! The song with the harmonics is full of surprises. Out of Africa is sensational. I have to listen to some more! You have PM.
  13. Seems like awhile back (6-12 months) when I was not interested in Heritage speakers, there were easy to access details on Forte's, etc. Now that I've heard several sets of Heritage equipment I've got more of an appreciation for these speakers and would like to research some details. At any rate, I cannot find these types of references anywhere on the Klipsch website. Anyone have any insight?
  14. Dustyn welcome to the forum, I notice that your pics have not posted, at least I don't see them in your three posts. There are folks here who could help you with that, you may want to start a new thread under a general forum category with a title that spotlights this problem..... For in-walls, I have R5800s for rears in my family room. They sound quite decent, but cannot compete with the RF-35s or RC-35 mains and center. If you could swing speaker cabinets across the front it would really be better. I've run my rears as the single speakers connected to my Denon AVR 1804 and connected them as the L/R mains. They don't sound bad at all, they just cannot approach the punch of my towers. The R58002 have a horn which swivels and a treble switch and a bass switch, they install easily if you think thru the installation, and I cannot complain about their sound. There are also several other Klipsch in-walls, or there were the last time I checked the product line. Good luck!
  15. Two things I've picked up in reading various threads on this subject. First, some power conditioners generate nominal voltage output regardless of the AC input signal. I'm running a 1500 VA APC battery backup system like this for my computer system. I've read that some systems of this type do a better job than others in the output signal sinewave generation. Since I've not invested in this yet and the computer stuff works great 24/7 including all types of power "events" I've never looked into what my system generates. It just works. APC also makes several home audio/video conditioners some of which have battery backup. There are many other types you could find by searching here on this forum or by Googling with various parameters. I just found this one on sale and it has worked flawlessly for my computer system and components. Second, several folks have posted they have the battery backup flavor of conditioner to keep the fan blowing for cooldown in their home theater projection systems in the event of a power outage. Sounds like this is a consideration to avoid premature lamp damage, but I don't have such a system so have not researched this. I guess the drill would be to loose power, battery backup kicks in, you realize power is off to the rest of the house and do a controlled shutdown preserving battery juice for the lamp fan. Isolation transformers as Wayne mentioned could also be an important part of the equation. Bottom line for me is I need to get something installed with more protection than just the line strip surge protector I have now in the near-term and fine tune later. I'm getting tired of unplugging everything each time thunderstorms threaten. Let us know what you come up with.
  16. Its been quite a busy couple of days, Tuesday evening and Im just getting around to posting some impressions of a really rewarding trip this weekend. Cal Blacksmith (aka Wayne) and I have been planning a Sunday afternoon get together around an upcoming business trip I was planning to the San Diego area. He is a couple hours north of the San Diego airport. My plans finally firmed up and we settled on 15 April. Sunday was a long day of airports and connecting flights from St. Louis to San Diego. There was an NRA convention in St. Louis and flights after 8 AM Sunday were hard to find, so I wound up on Southwest at 630 AM departing STL. From San Diego, a two hour drive north brought me to Waynes house by 3 PM. Hes located a bit off the beaten path and the final six or eight miles were through an area with lots of exposed granite boulders and outcroppings, quite unusual, reminded me of Elephant RockState Park in Missouri, but this is spread out for miles... Wayne had provided good directions and an accurate prediction of drive time, so my timeline was intact and I now had a good predictor of return drive time back to San Diego. Wayne and his wife were very gracious hosts and opened their house to a complete stranger with an interest in Heritage Klipsch speaker systems and associated audio electronics. I felt welcomed and at home from the time I pulled up till I had to get back on the road a couple hours later. Wayne even rescued me from another fast food meal with his homemade chili and sourdough bread! Great hospitality and great food for a weary traveler! My goal for this trip was to meet another forum member and get some insight into his audio equipment journey. I had a really great time, heard some great equipment and the stories behind some of the items. But best of all I met a really nice couple and made new friends. Priceless! Wayne has three main areas with Klipsch speakers. After a brief intro to his home theater system, we spent some quality time with some Cornwalls. I had heard Cornwalls at Sheltie Daves house last summer, so I was looking forward to hearing Waynes set. He had a solid state setup but primarily ran a tube pre-amp and a tube amp for most of the Cornwall listening. The showcase track was a Telarc disc of the 1812 overture. Can you say killer demo?!? I heard instruments that I had never noticed in this music and then you know what else was in store.the bells and the canons, and oh boy was it all just awesome sitting about four to six feet back with the speakers in the corners of a typical sized bedroom (12 x 12 maybe?)!! Wow!! Really just a great sounding system. The orchestration portions of the piece just drew me in till I realized I had shut my eyes and just felt immersed in the music, great soundstage and presence. We also listened to some LP and other CD tracks, jazz and other formats. I had decided not to bring any CDs or DVDs to reduce carry-on weight for my airline flights, but Wayne had a great selection and even blessed me with some tunes for my return drive to San Diego, much appreciated!! For comparison in this room there were also a pair of Hereseys, so I also had a chance to hear another Heritage speaker for the first time, an unexpected treat. But, the Corns ruled this room and made me forget my long flying and driving day. I have been thinking about maybe a pair of Hereseys for my home office/bedroom someday, but Waynes setup takes bedroom system to another level.really very impressive electronics and speakers and turntable. Following some much appreciated grub, Wayne showed me around his outbuilding, which is setup to accommodate a variety of metal working capabilities, and is really L-A-R-G-E!!!!. After the tour I can truthfully say that he can get it very hot and has the equipment to hit it very hard! Theres also an area in this building he has built as a mezzanine, complete with you guessed it audio equipment including a set of Hereseys and a place to kick back and take a break. OK, so now I have another home project, audio for my garage Waynes family room / living room has been adapted into a home theater format with a projector and a very nice screen (119 inch?). This was my first exposure to a projection system in a home environment and now has me thinking basement home theater plans... For mains I think he is running Forte Is with an Academy center and a sub under the Academy. Rears are Quartets (unless Ive got this backwards and these are the mains?) on stands, and I believe there were two more rears at the ceiling but I cannot recall the details. The mains are powered by a separate Yamaha amp and I believe the other surround speakers are powered by a Yamaha AVR. Hold onto your hat.. We listened to several audio and DVD samples and the tonal quality of this speaker combination was really nice. After a fair portion of Pink Floyd Pulse had played at a pretty decent sound level, I realized that running my RF-35 based system at a comparable level would have probably been somewhat fatiguing. Not so with this system. The Heritage speakers blended wonderfully and the sound was just a completely different experience than my reference system. I really like my RF-35s, RC-35 center, R5800 in-walls, especially for movies. But this Heritage sound is just different, I cant really put my finger on it. As Wayne mentioned, the Reference speakers are quite good, but Heritage is, well, Heritage, and Im starting to see why folks hold them in such high esteem.. After some quick movie demos and some equipment discussions, it was time to be back on the road again. I reached the hotel in San Diego before 9 PM which had been my late arrival goal. Long day but extremely rewarding. Fine folks and super sound. Id do it again in a heartbeat. Wayne, my thanks to you and your wife for giving up your Sunday afternoon and allowing me into your home to enjoy your collection of audio equipment. It was great to meet you guys and get to know you both, thanks again very, very much! God Bless -
  17. Cal - checked my email from work, now around 0930 AM STL time, your email has not shown up. Please give it another shot to same address: <> owens2004@charter.net If this does not work today suggest we get in contact by phone, I have free long distance on my cell.
  18. Email not yet recvd, 945 PM Wednesday, will check again tomorrow night.
  19. Cal - airline plans are confirmed, arrive San Diego around 11 AM, hope to be on the road before 1230 PM, looks like the 230 - 300 PM timeframe give or take a few minutes. Can you please provide directions to your place and phone contact, PM works as long as you let me know something is coming, otherwise I don't check it very often. owens2004@charter.net My cell is 636-485-1011. Will I have reception as I leave the highway and head toward your place? Verizon cell, but free roaming. Thanks for the invite, looking forward to meeting another Klipsh owner!
  20. Hey drummer - I live in O'Fallon and will be home for awhile late morning on Tuesday. If you want to come over and listen to my system you are welcome. Denon AVR 1804 RF-35s RC-35 R5800s in walls Might give you another data point on what you're hearing. I've got a set of RS-35s but they're still in the box, wife issues..........
  21. Cal - looking at Mapquest I get two routings from San Diego, one is straight up 15 the other takes me up 215. Which is best?
  22. Looking at several products on their web site I only see prices for one or two items. Is there a master price list I missed?
  23. Cal, J4Knee - here's semi-firm plans...... Flights into LA did not work out, although came close to flying into John Wayne Airport. Wound up into San Diego but with Southwest one stop thru Phoenix, lots of hours, leaving STL around 630 AM so by 8 PM Sunday night I'll be ready to hit the sack. Early start Monday morning. Assuming my travel itinery is approved, I should arrive in San Diego before noon, expect to be leaving the San Diego airport area by 1230 PM, 1 PM at latest on Sunday 15 April. Assuming it will take around 2 hours to get to Cal's place from the San Diego airport, does that sound about right? Cal if this comest together it looks like I could get to your place before 3 PM with no wrong turns...... Since I'd like to be back on the road again no later than 530-600 PM, that will make this a short afternoon for me, hopefully some other forum members will be interested and have more time. I've got some lower back issues, so flying and driving take a toll. Probably have another similar trip in a month or two, J4Knee maybe we could plan something for that trip?
  24. Have you heard RF-35s or is your plan based more on reading reviews or posts on this forum?
