  5. Hey all, gotta get rid of a few things to get a new amp. First up for sale is a minty pair of Klipsch B-3's. This is the speaker quite a few people on here have raved about. A bookshelf that still has output in the 30 hz range. Have the box, manual, warranty card, and all the plastics. New I paid $350 at Best Buy, I'd like to try to get $275 out of them, but thats not a firm price. Here's info on them-- http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=833 Next up for sale is a Harman Kardon AVR 125 Home Theater amp/receiver. It has a true 55 wpc, has all the decoder stuff and all that. Would like to try and get $150 out of it. Also its in mint condition. More info-- http://www.harmankardon.com/product_support/support_detail.aspx?Region=USA&Country=US&Language=ENG&cat=∏=AVR%20125&sjump=psactive Smudges are just finger prints. Thanks, David

  8. Holy crap! Thats awesome! Congratulations
  9. What happens if you polyfill the inside of the heresys?
  10. I think I have a temporary fix to the problem. I had an extra ProMedia Ultra sub laying around, so I wired the two in series creating an 8 ohm load on the amp. I turned the amp down quite a bit, and it seems to have fixed the problem. This is a temporary fix, however. I need to find a new amp. (suggestions on one would be great) I think I got them narrowed down to the Rotel RB-1070, an Aragon 2004, and the Parasound A-23. Thanks I guess I should have said the sub sounded fine before, when the speaks were set as large. I used one of those freq reproducer things off the net to do it. Forgot what it was called.

  12. Hey all, I've had my DIY Adire Tempest sub up and running for the past few months now, and I've encountered a problem. Its the Adire Alignment design, which is about 4' tall and 2' square, tuned at 15.4 hz. I did some reading on here earlier today, about setting the speakers to small or large. Some one said that setting them to small would take much of the load off the amp therefore making the mids and highs sound better. So I did just that, and noticed the imaging was more on center, if thats a word, and acoustic guitars just seemed to stick out there, like I could reach out and grab it. Buuuut, the lower freq drums and bass guitar just almost disappeared. I made sure my sub was still on, which it was. I turned the crossover up further, and no change. I got to looking in the HK manual (I'm using a Harman Kardon AVR 125) And when the speakers are set to small, it crosses over at 100 hz. So I turned the sub's volume up, and the midbass is back, but theres a huge gain 35 hz and under. On movies and some music with the low end extending into 20 hz, anything under 30 hz is unbearably loud. So im stuck. I dont want to set the speakers back to large because they sound better on small. So is it time to A: Get a new amp or B: Get a pair of Epic CF's so I dont even have to use a sub for music or C: Get a new amp and a new pair of speakers I'm open to anything else too. Like I said, I'm stumped on what to do. Oh, I have Heresy's right now, which I dont want to part with, so any help would be great. Thanks, David
  13. Octavarium off Dream Theater's new cd Octavarium. The song starts off just like Wish You Were Here, which would be shine on you crazy diamond part one i think. Song is 24 minutes long
  14. To match what you have on the way, I'd recommend the B-2's. I have the B-3's and love them.

  19. Hey James! When I was your age (two years ago ) I had the same problem. Heresy's, KG4's, or other misc. KG series speaks. I went with the Heresys. Dont regret it either. At first I thought the low end was a little weak, but placement and the bass knob on the amp fixed that. The KG4's will dig down deeper, but they wont be as loud, or sound as good, imo. Hope this helps, David.

I think the E-mu 0404 is $99 at compusa. Reviews said its the best soundcard under I think $300 on the market. Thats what I'm using with my Heresy's.

    Octavarium

Hey all, Dream Theater's Octavarium came out today. Wonderin if any one got it. I think its by far one of they're best albums.
  23. Holy crap, you got an awesome price on that! I'll buy it from you if you dont like/want it
  24. I have the B3's, and they're prolly by far one of the best investments I've ever made. They're loud enough to keep our band hall (80'x100'), every where in it, 100+ db. In the house, with ear protection, I've clocked over 114. Pretty strong under 40 hz, but not groundshaking. Still rattles pictures and the walls though. So if you're going the cheaper route, I'd go with the B3's. Oh, and the sound quality of them is awesome too
  25. Hmm, I think I might have to go with the 2100. Does McIntosh sell new name plates for them?
