  1. I consider my oak/cane Belles to be excellent condition and an offer of less than $2K would not even get my attention. And to be honest, I don't think I would sell them for less than $2.5K, whether I would get that is another story but really doesn't matter - ain't for sale!
  2. Those are beauties JMON, good deal, great price. They are AAALLLMOST as nice looking as my Oak/Cane Belles!!!![]
  3. Sorry about the shipping woes but know how you feel as I am sure many forum members do. Once received damaged electronic gear and it was like pulling teeth dealing with the shipper. As for FedEx, two guys that work in my warehouse also work nights at FdEx. I would imagine the more angry minded of the two, after a shitty day at his first job, might be able to toss a Corn 10-15 feet. Oh the stories I hear. It makes me wonder how anythings arrives intact. And don't forget, FedEx ground is nothing more than re-badged RPS - Roadway Package Service - a truck line courrier service bought by FedEx. FedEx Overnite is a whole differant ballgame, and you pay for it.
  4. Sorry for skimming the ad too quickly and for the geographical error - if its too far for you, then don't bother. Just tryin' to help.
  5. If I am reading the ad correctly, a pair of nice looking Fortes AND an HK 730 are for sale - $650 for the whole shootin' match. Sounds like a fair deal. Only hitch, pick up only in NY. Check AudioGon under Klipsch. Good luck.
  6. If you must experiment with differant brands have a look at Triangle, the Celius model. A nice used pair should fit your budget. These are French made and very well engineered. All drivers are designed and made in house. The tweeter is somewhat of a conical horn configuration. Effeciency? is 94db, not bad for cones. The owner/designer of Triangle is himself quite found of horns, naming an Altec model as one of his favorites. This was my last pair of non-horn speakers after having LaScallas many years ago. Had the Celius and Fortes 1 at the same time. Kept the Forte and went on to Corns and Belles. Have never looked back. As an aside, had both Forte and Forte ll, I much preferred the originals.
  7. Some 35 years ago my cousin, who obtained a Doctorate in Far East Civilization and became Chancellor at Miami Dade Junior College, when asked about his major said "do the math. In the next 50 years there will be billions of Chinese. Best I learn the language." He may have been on to something. Rich
  8. I would see no need for a business card with that kind of entrance.
  9. May have been the same tour, I think '68 was the year. Rich
  10. Raining this morning, no bike ride, listening to the Hendrix box set which is mostly forgotten in my play list. Man does that bring back the memories. My very first concert was Hendrix no less. I was 15 and my little gang had to be driven to the show. And the kicker - the $5 dollar ticket price!! We opted for this show after first thinking how cool it was that the very first "real" rock show in KC was to be Quicksilver Messenger Service. (this ages me don't it!) I hung out with some forward thinkers when it came to music of the day. Another friend, a little older and one of the first "long hairs" in the neighborhood who had also formed a little band, turned us on to a lot of the "new music". And my best buddys dad who also enjoyed music had built an entertainment center around some 14" JBLs full range and a Fisher of some sort. Garrard TT of course. We listened to music all the time on this nice system and found ourselves well ahead of the local music curve. To think I saw Hendrix live for 5 bucks still amazes me. I doubt too many out there had that opportunity. Of course that lead to Cream in Des Moines (I was spending the night with a friend, yeah right) Grateful Dead as BACKUP band to Iron Butterfly and so on. Damn, I AM getting older. Rich
  11. How many of you out there are totally content with your systems? I mean really satisfied to the point that other than a total revamp, your system sounds so right to you. Or must you always tinker hoping to find virvana but alas, it is never found. Or must you change out gear just for change sake. Put me down as contented. Rich
  12. Yes, had the 150 used with Pauls Cayin TA-30. Pauls a great guy with very good service and of course, very high on his products. The 150 was to bring out the very best of the Cayin, which in itself was supposed to be very good, and for the money it is. It did improve the Cayin but I couldn't get past this concept; in my mind then the Cayin was not so good. Long story short, a head to head with a Redgum RGi60 MOSFET integrated sealed the Cayin/150 fate. The Redgum now supplies power to my Belles. As for looks, that was the first thing that turned me off. For a pre-amp it is big and heavy and I think, odd looking. It is large enough that the 45lb. Cayin sits on top of it, not the other way around. Rich
  13. Here, Here. Well said Parrot and Nectar. My stunning oak/cane Belles look better and better each and every day. And will always continue to do so. And yes, to my ears they sound every bit the LaScalla. Owned(own) both. Rich
  14. All right fellow Klipschsters, we can now hold our heads high and proud. We have at last reached our ten pages of crap that every Neo post seems to achieve. I don't have room to talk as I have read the majority but this must be a bored bunch. I guess another ride on a very fast motorcycle is in order. That should cure the boredom. That and a good listen to the most beautiful loudspeaker ever, Ms. Belle. Lets hope there is no page eleven. Rich
  15. A crazy topic for this forum I know but has anyone priced premium car tires lately? Damn. Haven't had the need for new tires in a very long time and talk about sticker shock! Could have bought a very nice pair of Corns; luckily, I already own a pair. Rich
  16. Hey Colter, check these out on AGon. Looks right up your alley! Rich
  17. Come on guys, don't let me down now. Just two and a half more pages and we've again got our ten pages of crap from a simple Neo post. Most of this is unbelievable. Neo I personnally don't care if your system is a Wal Mart boombox, but I must say, for some reason you can sure stir the shit. Come on guys, keep 'em comin'. Rich
  18. Oh no, here we go again! Don't tell me I have to read 10 more pages of this crap. Time to ride the motorbike again. Rich
  19. And all along I thought the quote so intellectually deep and profound coming from one our countrys greatest thinkers and philosophers - Rodney King. I did not come up with that crazy statement, Rodney did!! Rich
  20. Motorcycles, and more motorcycles. Oh yeah, did I say motorcycles? Rich

  22. To quote a great American - "Can't we all just get along". Rich
  23. On my Belles the "A' side came off as much cleaner, crisper, more prcise. Have not gone back to "AA" since and most likely won't. The Belles with a MOSFET integrated give me the cleanest and virtually grain-free sound I could ask for. No changes are in my future. If I understand correctly, the"A" networks act like a first order design? Had both my Belles and Cwalls networks done by BEC with great results. A good value for the dollar upgrade IMO and Bob was great to work with. Rich
