  1. Thank you very much. I'll be taking photos as well. I know I'm not nearly as talented as you are, but I'll give it a shot.....I'm going to see if I can't get a natural finish to them, but if not, the Duratex sure looks good.
  2. Certainly agree with Mr. Turtle regarding cost and passion....however....I own a bunch of these Pioneer units, 1250's, 1050's, 950's....and in my opinion, if you choose wisely, look closely, and test well, in a big percentage (at least in my experience, and maybe I've been lucky...) you may not have to do anything but some good Deoxit cleaning, a few lamp replacements, and a couple of very basic, easy voltage adjustments, that even a bonehead like me can do....(not difficult at all). Now, I'm not saying at all that a lot of units shouldn't be recapped, but certainly I think there is a point of diminishing return to putting a bunch of money into them. If I notice degradation in power output or quality at some point, then I'll move on it, but that has not been the case for over 5 years now. I have gotten an enormous amount of listening pleasure out of these great receivers, that have both terrific visual and audio character like very few others. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it....
  3. Welcome to the forum!! A few of my opinions below: I am about to buy a 65 or 70 inch TV and setup some decent sound to go with it. I now have a home stereo system that is excellent but about 30 yrs old. For speakers I have two Klipsch floor standing Forte models (Forte-WO) is on the labels along with serial numbers. I bought them new about 30 yrs ago and they have been excellent for me. I have some questions for my move from this stereo system to the surround sound system. Are you also upgrading your receiver/audio video processor? 1) Can I use my two Forte speakers as the left and right front speakers in a surround sound system? The sensitivity of these speakers is supposedly 94db. Most definitely, yes you can. 2) I noticed on the Crutchfield website that Klipsch makes a speaker designed to be the center speaker in surround configs. I was looking at the RC52 II. It had 96db sensitivity I think. Would this speaker work with my existing speakers in surround config? I assume I can then add some rear speakers and buy a surround sound amp and setup my new audio world. 3) I do not watch a lot of action movies but most movies or reg TV shows I watch have dialogue that is difficult for me to understand due to hearing issues. Will this Klipsch center speaker (RC52) help to improve dialogue/voice sound from the TV? Yes, a center will improve the dialogue from the source material 4) Or should I move on from these old speakers and just get a sound bar (also offered by Klipsch) which is easier to do but maybe not as good of a result. IMHO, I would not move away from the Forte's and a center to a soundbar. Major downgrade. I guess I asked a lot, any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Ed Calkins No problem, that's what this forum is all about.
  4. As far as what I will do with them....don't know yet....I have this really strong tendency to keep everything, especially after getting emotionally attached with putting a lot of time and effort into refurbing. Will probably depend on how nice I can get them looking. I've got the split LSI's right now that are black with the cool metal trim, but they don't really fit with the rest of the "group"....Will most likely make some kind of move with one pair or the other sometime next summer. Now, how they got this way? No idea, but I know they spent some time in a barn after removal from the Masonic Temple. More than likely with all the crazy partying that those Mason's are about, I guess I'm not surprised.... Have to say, I was shocked that they still had the badges attached.....
  5. Loving the butt whoopin that Oregon is putting on FSU right now....
  6. Yea, I thought you were seriously looking at acquiring one of these? For that price I would jump if closer....
  7. Picked up a pair of beater La Scala's today that came out of a Masonic Temple ($100!). 1976 models that are going to need some serious refinishing, but I needed a nice winter project.....Anyway, need a few things to make them whole again, one of which would be a pair of crossovers. Would prefer AA's, but let me know what you have. PM please. Michael?
  8. That's just downright ugly, sorry IMHO

  10. You mean I can't play my little silver disks? Oh no
  11. AT-LP120-USB includes the AT95E cartridge, replacing the ATP-2XN cartridge. Please PM me regarding your cartridge that you might have for sale. Thanks.
  12. Looks like a party!! Beautiful.
  13. I am very appreciative of all of the advice. However, I am extremely hesitant to purchase a used TT, reasons being: 1. Not a whole bunch of audio enthusiasts in my area, and I don't want to ship anything used...(other than a few of you fine folks) 2. As I am at the beginning of this journey (and it may be short, we'll see...), I don't want to have to refurbish or recondition a used unit. 3. Testing and auditioning a used unit would be a challenge, as again, being a newbie to vinyl, I don't yet know many of the intricacies to look for So, I made a decision to go with a very reasonably priced unit, but an also very well reviewed unit (by several publications), which is the Audio Technica AT-LP120. Seemingly well built, decent cartridge, and....a warranty.....bonus! If I decide to get more involved with vinyl, I'll upgrade. But for now, I think this will get me going. If anyone has this particular unit, and want to offer any tips or advice, I would certainly welcome it. Thanks!! Happy New Year to everyone!
  14. Happy Birthday!! Hope you are well.
  15. "Cartridge" "Cart," as in "I got a new cart." It always leaves me wondering "did you also get a new donkey with that new cart?" I'm with you there brother....
  16. From anywhere, TV, politics, news, etc. Preferably brief and recognizable.... I'll start off....From Breaking Bad's Saul Goodman...."Two words....Hogan's Heroe's"
  17. What does Harbaugh make, about a million dollars per home game for coaching Michigan? It's not about the money anymore. Maybe a few years ago, but not now.
  18. Yes, thanks, had already seen that, and have read many more....already placed my orders for a few things......should be interesting.
  19. My $25 Heresy's were in much better shape than those....just sayin'.....
  20. Mr. Harbaugh has a tough job ahead of him, but wow, I think the results in a couple of years will be spectacular. A Michigan Man comes home!! In the process of looking for tickets for the home opener next season, should be amazing. Go Blue!!
  21. OK, so there is a distinct possibility that I will purchase a new turntable....didn't think it would happen, but, well, you know.... However, definitely not spending more than $500. I know, some of you spend much more than that on just a tonearm or cartridge, but, I can't justify that right now. So, my question would be, is there such a thing as audio or sonic "matching" a type or brand of turntable with Heritage speakers (CW, Belle, LS)?. Will be listening primarily to classic rock, blues, jazz. Some of the models that I've read about in the price range that are well reviewed are: Audio-Technica AT LP120 Rega RP1 Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Any opinions on the above?
  22. Maybe, ask Monica Lewinsky.....
