  1. Well, after the day I had today, any issues I might have had here pale in comparison.... I'm getting too old for this crap....On the off chance that this was a possible gold mine (based on a CL description and another sites pictures) I drove almost 3 hours, stayed overnight last night close by in order to get there early this morning. OK, no big deal. Arrived at 6am for a 10:30 opening, and was the first person (read: moron) there by easily 2 hours. One guy showed up at 8am and I got out of my car to greet him and chit chat. When he made a comment something like..."Well, I was wondering what kind of competition I'd have today"....I knew this could be trouble. Then he asked, "So what are you after?", and I said something about some nice audio tubes (purposely vague), he then got snarky and said, "Well, isn't everybody?" OK, I'm done with this guy...and got back in my car to wait due to the 30 degree temps. The Estate Sale service folks showed up at 9 (whom I had already spoken with on the phone, and told them I would be there early). My new "buddy"....(I'll call him Mike), immediately announced that he was there first and wanted to be the first to get on the sign up list to get into the house. Shall we say that the situation degraded from there...I was furious. What a total jerk. Major DBag. I can't even begin to tell you the major fit he threw when the sale manager stated that he was in fact second in line, behind me. It actually got worse, but I'm still too pissed to keep writing....Long story short, all that time and trouble and BS yielded only a few decent finds, no major scores, as some previously here had predicted....But, I lived and learned. Yikes.
  2. Get off the Merry Go Round???? Dude, you just got on.....enjoy the ride.
  3. Well, I did post in the Technical and Mod section, not the Lounge.
  4. Not necessarily pissed off, just annoyed. And annoyed at the fact that it's not just my post, but many others, and particularly some folks that are new here and coming for advice, that find their threads filled up with random, useless crap that has no bearing on the original query. Sorry if I sound cranky, but I am, because it seems to be getting worse.
  5. Fee Waybill is quite entertaining, and Roger Steen is a highly underrated guitarist. Quay Lewd! sorry, but I don't get it, and honestly don't appreciate the BS....
  6. Fee Waybill is quite entertaining, and Roger Steen is a highly underrated guitarist. very helpful, thank you
  7. Hey guys, I will be attending a sale in my area that apparently has a rather large amount of vintage radios and tubes that will be available, as well as several what look to be fairly comprehensive tube testers. I acknowledge that my question may be rather broad, but regardless, I am wondering if there are any particular highly desirable tubes I should keep an eye out for, and/or specific manufacturers that would be generally considered good quality. Also would be great to know what to stay away from.... Unfortunately not able to assess anything or preview prior to the sale, so I'll be walking in relatively blind other than my own extremely limited knowledge and anything I receive here. Any help at all is appreciated.
  8. Oh, my tags have a huge effect on the sound quality....especially the signatures. (face palm) Obviously, none, but...to the OP, they might have a value regarding possible resale value, and as stated....just pure piece of mind. If they're not there, then so be it, but it would be more important to open them up, check the drivers and crossovers and listen to them prior to buying.
  9. They are, but this is a good price if you know what you're doing inside of it, and really, it's not that difficult.
  10. Well, you beat me to it, as I was going to say the same thing....We should have a big Midwest contingent show the rest of the boys how to party!!
  11. What???? You got an invite to Gary's place to see and hear "The Stacks"????Ok, now I get it....Gary was upset that he couldn't ****** the amp from me, and I didn't say goodbye, and I took that last piece of pepperoni pizza that was sitting in front of him in the kitchen.....OK for you Gary.....
  12. Lots of photos please....look on the back for models

  14. Go there and knock on the door. Don't be shy. What's the worst that can happen? Well, forget I said that....
  15. I emailed 5 nanoseconds after it was posted, and still no response.....

  17. Justin, if I didn't already have your awesome Stereo 15 SE, I would buy these. What a deal.
  18. Seth, I posted pictures and text in another thread, And a GREAT time was had by all,.....and that's the truth!
  19. I knew I would get questions about who was in the photos, so I'll do the best I can Look at the last photo with everyone standing and from left to right: (I apologize that I forgot the last gentleman on the right....) Rick (Seth's neighbor, and very nice guy!), Beeker, JimJimbo Jason STR, (Jason, Table Tuba builder master...), Brandon (Opus2k9), Gary (Gnote), Derrick (Derrickdj1), Mark (Bubo?), Seth (Lemonstring), and then? (again, sorry...) A few additional notes: Yes, this is how I would like to spend all my Saturdays when the Wolverines have a bye (and this season, I wish they had more byes.....) Gary, I apologize for not saying goodbye, I think you may have been outside somewhere when I took my leave, and yes, I was concerned you would follow me and try to abscond with my Stereo 15...LOL Brandon, thank you for your invite to your home to see your great collection and your two beautiful puppies.... Again, Seth, thank you so much, it was a real pleasure.
  20. OK, I'll admit, I'm pretty sure I was the first to leave the party, and it may very well still be going on, but regardless, it was a terrific get together.... Many, many thanks to Seth and his lovely wife for hosting the event and being so gracious in sharing their home for all of us Klipsch aficionados....Lots of great food and drink, vinyl, Blu Ray's, DVD's, CD's, streaming....Old school rock, blues, acoustic, jazz, Beatles, Bee Gees, electronic dance, concert videos. Seth had his beautiful pair of Cornwalls, Jimjimbo brought his ClaudeJ1 Super Heresy "Baby Cornwalls", and Jason wrestled a great Table Tuba into the room. Seth's tube amp, JimJimbo's ampsandsound Stereo 15 tube amp, and Mark's older Marantz were all auditioned and sounded great. I'm sure lots of other comments to come from other folks. Again, thank you all for attending, it was great to meet everyone. Initial setup
  21. Honestly, rare to see empty CW cabs, more often Heresy cabs....keep an eye out on the bay, but again, not much there at all.....Would check out CL and post there as well. Don't be afraid to drive a couple of hours....it could definitely be worthwhile.
