  1. Skule, The setup you own is beautiful.... I am envious. [H] It is great your dog gets enjoyment also. [Y] Our cats often start looking around like "what was that?" when we are watching something. (My Heresy setup can not compare in refinement to Palladiums; but it is still Klipsch and sounds really good). Again.... Congrats on your setup. []
  2. Welcome to The Forum! Membership dues include passing out crazy deals from your work on a regular basis! (OK, I will stop being an ***)..... If I were in your shoes; I would say the above comments are spot on. RB 61s and an RC 62 would work nicely for your setup. Good Luck.
  3. Sorry man.... Those kind of anniversaries SUCK. [8o|] (My loss happened on New years Day 24 years ago; I get it)......
  4. I agree with Gary. Listening to a correctly set up pair as a baseline is what was suggested 3 pages ago, I believe. I also think hearing Jubes down the road might be good, particularly if he has decided he dislikes correct KHorn sound... (Jubes are another more expensive but awesome option).
  5. Welcome to The Forum. The whole plate that you removed to take the picture is considered collectively the amp. $80 is worth it, imho. They are really good speakers for a PC or small bedroom. You could try desoldering the bad cap and replacing with a good one, ( this would be one of many compnents that make up a complete amp).but there are no guarantees that is the only issue. Good Luck.
  6. You might be able to find a large enough button screw (allen or phillips) to replace those with. If the screws are black, (Perhaps a spring washer and nut on the inside with some loc tite), you will hardle notice.
  7. +1!!!!!! (On both comments). Need proof? I just purchased my RF 52s for $70. The deals are rare, but do exist. Good Luck!
  8. Yep, What Ceeca said.... 1-800-KLI-PSCH and see if they have them. Only other option is Ebay.... Good Luck!
  9. Yes, turn the volume down. It is normal in the sense that this happens even when connecting a bass guitar to an amp. The solution is..... You guessed it..... Turn down the amp gain (volume) or use a mute button if the amp has it. (My Trace Elliott does).
  10. Wow.... I just bought some RF 52s used about a week ago. (Your speakers are gonna blow my RF 52s away......) I am most envious....... (You are gonna LOVE THEM). I would suggest a good surge protector.... The $3.00 can be retired in the garage. Good Luck. Post pics!
  11. River, Yes, my first Reference purchase. They are a tad bright; but the PC EQ is handling that. They sound great with metal.... Like Promedias on HGH..... I definitely see the Reference charm and allure......I am impressed with the sound and the clean modern look. I will always love 3 way Heritage; but there is room for both; no doubt, I want RF7s now; of course.... lol
  12. Yeah, I haven't cranked it past 55%. (Have not had the chance to do so yet). I am still on the fence for powering my RF 52s.... The 430 twin or my AVR 340......
  13. Or, "looking for plutonic male companionship." Yeouch.... That was funny..... Thanks for the soda stain Cornfed. []
  14. Yep; What he said. I would have been demoing them in my living room already........
  15. Hmm... How loud do you listen normally.? About 40 percent (10: 00 on the dial) is plenty for me......
  16. Go get those speakers. They will sound different then LaScalas. (Not worse; it is subjective; you may fall in love and sell the La Scalas: depends on your ears). But they are worth AT LEAST ~$500 more than that for the set right now used. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose. GO GET THEM!!!!!
  17. To River's point, I guess I can not say this either; as I have not had the pleasure of KLFs.... YET. I am reasonably confident they would sound very good to excellent; though. (I just got my first reference; RF 52s and they sound grat on the HK 430 twin).
  18. I've seen numbers a bit higher, like 96db, or is that watt vs 2.83v? I think the newer H IIs were ~96db and the H III is 98 or 99db. I stand corrected; 96 db 1w/1m it is, for H Is.
  19. Dtel.... LMAO. [] Trust me.... she is already weary...... but she's great. [Y]
  20. Tell that to the thousands of satisfied K Horn owners. Good Sound is subjective and you are only one of many...... I am sure Greg is great. So is Bob Crites; Dean G and I hear NOS kicks butt as well..... Yes, there are more expensive drivers available that can improve the sound. The sound is really good already. Klipsch still makes the best widely available speakers on the planet. Period.
  21. Stephen, The only thing missing from the Heresy is bass. This opinion varies; some prefer without a sub; some say it is necessary. You are more than welcome to come by and have a listen if you are ever in the neighborhood. The Heresy Is are 94db in regards to sensitivity. I believe my Heresies and sub give everything one could want (within reason); and it is an excellent bang for buck setup. FWIW; a nice minty set of H Is can be had for ~$400. Add a good musical sub and you are set. Good Luck! Let me know if you are ever in the neighborhood.
  22. Down the slope you s l i d e. LMAO..... []
  23. Stephen, The Reference sound is still new to me, so it is hard to quantify...... The best comparison is that the heritage warmth is not present as it is in the Heresy Is. (This is not a bad thing, it is just slightly different). The RF 52s are definitely great sounding with metal music. They image nicely (especially considering the challanges of having them in a bedroom). Also, keep in mind; I am using my promadia 2.1 amp to drive these. HK to be installed tonight or tomorrow. (Not sure which). So comparison? Heresy is Klipsch classic and RFs are Klipsch modern. I think there is room in my world for both. I still prefer 3 way speakers (Heritage), but I am impressed with the RF 52s. Stephen, hope that helps. I am leaning towards the AVR 340 to power these. (I also have a vintage HK 430 twin powerd).
