  1. Rad, The Xovers look like a stock Klipsch Xover as mentioned. Also; I recommend listening to them for at least a few weeks before changing anything, as William said. (This will establish a baseline). Mr. Crites is a pleasure to deal with; so when the time comes; it will be all good. You can purchase his caps or send him the Xovers to do for you; or purchase complete networks. (I believe he has them for Forte/ Forte II). Good Luck!
  2. If you look closely, I use rubber sanding blocks to tilt mine. (They are curved on top and flat on the bottom). Use small rags or something similar where they contact the wood to avoid any possible discoloration. I prefer mine on the floor; tilted up. I suggest trying on the floor and up on stands to see which you like better. You may spend some time tweaking this; but your ears will thank you. Enjoy!
  3. I suggest getting another DIN plug and replacing the original with it. You can cut the old one open and check each wire's position and color if necessary. (The new one will likely include a pin out diagram with this information). Using these two sets of info; you can splice each wire from the old cord to the new cord, knowing which position is which. No soldering necessary; but recommended for longevity. Use electric tape for each wire section that is twisted together. You could get the heat shrink tubing also. Good Luck. I did this to my Promedias about 5 years ago; and it is still going strong.
  4. LMAO; it's about a 30 step program to me.... (from here to the car). [Y] My longest drive was about 2.5 each way; to middle Indiana, where I got my KV 4 for $165.......
  5. Chisox, I agree, these are excellent bang for buck. I have owned: KG 1.2s; 1.5s; 3 sets of 2s (2 pair in oak; these being Walnut, one of the two oak pair are in extended family), 2 pairs of 2.5s (both light oak); one pair of 3s that are extended family and one pair of 5.2s..... I have not spent thousands but definitely close to a thousand....... (Have at least broke even overall, but may have made some money; including the Christmas gift of the KG 2s to my Faatherinlaw)..... This particular pair is walnut; which is rare (to me); I have not seen a pair of KG2s come up in walnut before. High on the WAF factor, because she likes Walnut; and it's my favorite also. Again; these are for the bedroom...... I would almost prefer 2.5s; but these were a great price; nice overall shape; and fit the bill.... Listening to FM again tonight; these sound FANTASTIC. I am very pleased......
  6. I also think there are many brands that I would be interested in trying and hearing........ To me; this also goes hand in hand with Receivers and various tube amps; etc...... (A perfect example is a Sansui 9090db). I am once again an owner of too many speakers.... Although down the line; I could perhaps move the KG 2s to HT duty and put the JBL L36s in the bedroom. (They sound great; but the WAF is that they are just too big for the bedroom.... I agree with her on this).
  7. That sucks.... I quietly hoped it would last at least a few more months....... As for Klipsch subs; I ony had one; a SW10. I never had issues with it except it was not accurate. (Very boomy and muddy). If you are buying new; decide on a budget....... You could go used; but that is somewhat of a risk also........ I just picked up a 12" 500w Infinity Interlude 120s. I paid $120.... Overall, my Emo is better, but I like sealed versus ported. The IL can go head to head with SPLs and may actually be a bit better with HT....... Epik, Hsu, SVS, Emotiva, Velodyne, Elemental Designs are all top quality reputible brands that most would recommend. Decisions.... Decisions...... Good Luck.
  8. I would guess the results will at least be closee to what you hear now on the wood floors. I like carpeting; it's kind of a natural sound treatment that mostly goes unnoticed....... I'd love to see before and after pics! Good Luck!
  9. Dennie; That is exactly the goal; isn't it? Even with my PC sound cards' (digital EQs); I mostly cut the mids a bit; never boosting anything. Your description of non EQd at higher volumes is accurate........ Kinda out of control........ and certain parts of certain songs almost offend my ears slightly.......
  10. Fini, You could be right; but he loves his Corns and other Klipsch. He is saying these sound worse than 901s for Pete's sake! (I think something, or several somethings are wired wrong).
  11. I believe the answer is they were designed to be sealed in corners at the owner's location. I do not know if they need to be "airtight" but there should be no gaps visible. (The airtight thing may be the next progression; IDK). I am no KHorn expert, but I have never heard of them described as you do; without something being wrong with them electrically or mechanically. Good Luck; these guys on this Forum (and Mr. Crites) are the best.
  12. Right now, I have been doing FM only on the HK. (Not connected to the PC yet). I shall be completing this hopefully this weekend. Honestly; losing a little bass for the bedroom would be ok; but I do not think that will happen. Most of my file collection are very HQ; so it should sound very good....... (Fingers crossed).......
  13. My workaround for doing music and HT in the same system is to use 2 channel audio (or 2.1; with a sub) for music; and then the surround modes for HT. I suggest spreading your Heresey speakers about 9 feet apart (or wider if your room is super big). This will help define each speaker and they will image the sounds beautifully. Toe them in slightly and experiment how close to the walls they are. Also, if they have no risers; find a way to tilt them up slightly, so the mids and tweets are near ear level. (If sitting and standing; I say choose which you do more often and set them to that level when you tilt them). Again; this will help image them. Music in 2 channel on these should sound amazingly good. (See my pic) As for your question; yes; it is fun to try different things. The beauty is; buying Klipsch used; you can buy them, try them and sell them for near the same price.
  14. That's a really good starting point! I got these for $100; but that is a fair price IMHO (Not a kick arse "thrift store" bargain however). They worked; and I knew what I was getting; so..... No worries from my end!
  15. Bruce, I only have a copy of the owners manual. If you could post the service manual, that would be a great favor to me! (I would owe you one, for sure!) []
  16. I am late to this thread; but EXCELLENT SCORE! Also; way to pass it on....... Nice!
  17. "Contact the seller" is where I would be going....... (You say he will refund $..... correct?) Welcome to The Forum; BTW!!!!!
  18. My Emotiva Ultra 12 was $359 on sale. This is a very good sub for that money. (Review below) http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/speakers/subwoofers/ultra-12/ultra-intro The Epik is also a really good sub. Consider SVS, Hsu, Velodyne, Emotiva, Epik, Elemental Designs; there are others I forgot to mention. They all have great offerings; and are all safe bets to give good bang for buck. (Some more than others). Good Luck.
  19. I agree; Kinda like asking "Is a Ford better than a 2011 Chevy Camaro SS"..... Once you figure out which components; etc; then it will be more like: " Is that 2011 Shelby Ford Mustang better than a 2011 Chevy Camaro SS"? (I'll take the Mustang; but honestly; I';d take either right now)..... []
  20. Have you tried using an RCA splitter so you are using both input jacks? I assume you swapped it for the other Klipsch sub? (If you are trying a different receiver; etc; it could be the receiver and not the sub). Good Luck.
  21. A T&T did not have cellphone usage in mind 50 years ago either; but that does not mean they do not approve it. PWK was arounnd when EQs came out and deinitely was exposed to that technology. (He did not incorporate it into K Horns, like say a JBL L100 though). The thread title is "Did PWP Intend "..... I think he did not originally..... I wish to know " Did he APPROVE".... (Or would he approve of doing so now; with digital EQs as well as PCs; etc.).
  22. Tested last night. The JBLs sound very, VERY good. The Klipsch KG 2 (Squared) sound excellent. A lot of bass for such a small speaker. I suspect once hooked up to the PC and using the sound card's EQ; I will be in a very good place in the bedroom........ You guys are right (as always) I had these cranking last night; and the HK showed no sign of any issues. I thank you all! []
  23. Dennie, I just became acquainted with my new friend Bill W. about 3 weeks ago. Great people at his local hangout...... As I said; things are going very well! Thanks for the kind welcome! (Congrats not necessary; I am late to this party; but better late than never!)
  24. Yes.... I do. I sometimes fantasize about listening to them while at work. [] Other times I pretend I am (while listening to Klipsch S4i headphones). [] Other times; I count the minutes till I get to listen again! [] I just added KG 2s to the stable. They sound great as well....... [H]
