  1. Uh... so you're like...not going to share it with us??? Perhaps you'd rather me discuss in public, your ear lobes? (yes if this sounds like blackmail... it must be blackmail) [] [A] [6] [:-*]
  2. You are right on the spreads. I'll try to clarify to someone (who's looking at something with .05 x .10 spread) "do you realize this stock has to go up 100% before you are at BREAK EVEN??? Then they start to "get it". On options, you hit one of my passions. What most people don't realize is you CAN play options very conservatively (my own bd included it would seem). Options get the bad rap for losing someone's money and I'll try to educate the person and show them (what I feel is) a better way. SELLING them and never buying them. Covered calls & covered puts. Interestingly to me... (and this is me ragging on my b/d) my firm would not raise TOO much of an eyebrow if a 55 year old lady came to my office, opened a margin account and for what ever her reasons, bought 2,000 shares of (insert name of listed or otherwise BIG company) stock. So... now she's leveraged. If it goes up, she can make a bundle but if it goes down, her losses are also magnified. I won't hear a peep from compliance. If however, I took that same amount of money and instead of margining the stock, sold a put for her with a strike price say... $5.00 UNDER the current market, netting her let's say $1,00 oh what the heck... let's get crazy and say I net her $5.00 per share premium for this opening transaction (times 1,000 shares so she pockets $5,000 upfront and her risk is buying this stock 5 dollars BELOW it's current trading mark) What can happen? 1. Stock goes up, she never gets put the stock but she keeps the $5.00/share premium. 2. Stock goes down to ZERO and she's out the strike price LESS the $5.00 premium. For arguments sake, let's say she's out 100% of her money EXCEPT for the $5,000 preumium. My B/D would be MORE comfortable if she margined the stock and lost 100% of her ENTIRE money, than sold an option on the same stock and lost it all EXCEPT for the $5,000 premium she brought in. I ask anyone who has a brain... if you are going to gamble with say $50,000... would you rather A) lose the entire bet ($50,000) lose the entire bet BUT salvage $5,000 from it, so your net loss is "only" $45,000? It's an over simplified story but it makes the point. It also shows that my b/d is VERY uneducated on these things (as are many people). Sadly, my b/d would rather stick their head in the sand than let one of there "mere brokers" teach them anything. (arrogance at the highest levels) My business partner is a CPA. He was our Financial Operations Principal at our B/D & been in biz 5 years more than me. When I first joined with him, I took some time to show him some ideas for writing some calls and puts. He too buried his head. He didn't understand them so he hid from them. Over the next several years (been together 12 years now) with me dripping ideas on him...his lightbulb FINALLY went off and he finally "got it" Today, he is a writing machine. Last year alone, I think he netted something like $75,000 on his premiums alone. He went from his head stuck in a hole in the ground to a VERY eager writer. Something I've witnessed with just about EVERYONE I've held by the hand & taken the patience with to teach & show them. After a couple months or years of this over eagerness...then they too "calm down" and finally become fairly sophisticated and unemotional about the process. Really can be fun to watch someone change from before to after their lightbulb going off.!!

    Sony SXRD

I've got the 50" SXRD WEGA and love it
  4. Trey paid me to post this could it be roy.pdf
  5. Don't forget he'll probably be using that wimpy K502 (?) horn. [6] (if the K402 is plug ugly, what is the K502?) [] That will buy him some additional "apparent space" since it is so small. I also enjoyed that pair of Heresy's sitting on top of them which ALSO sounded fabulous. What was different about that was I could really stretch their legs (bass bins) a LOT more than I can with the 402 on top. I really enjoyed the sound with the H2's on top!
  6. I sent you a pm. I live in Greenback (on Tellico Lake) and work in Knoxville. I drive through LC twice a day. Could you take a LaScala, lay it on its side, remove the top horns and place them above your screen?? I'd do what ever I could to keep that system together if I were you. Placing the top horns above the image is what I was thinking on trying. If you have an interest to hear the Jubilees, lemme know and we'll get together!
  7. Peaking is correct...my bad. Scale goes from 0-100 starting off with something like .001, .01, .1, 1.0, 10, 100 Good catch. (does this now make me guilty of being a peaker?) [*-)]
  8. Seems there is more than one on this forum...with a diabolical mind.
  9. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you SO ruined my diabolical plans... [8o|]
  10. Or double worse... what if you decided to drive home with your Klipschorns AND MY Jubilees? [] [] [] [] [] [] I WOULD have to send Chloe after you to kick your a## [Z]...[&]
  11. Amen Brother! As I told Rich in Texas.. (after he said he gets bored with speakers after something like 3-5 years) I told him that the Jubilees were clearly not for him then because they'd easily last him 15 years before he got bored. [H]
  12. Mike...Dean... I am probably not in the middle per se' however, I'd offer my place as a meeting spot. Give you both a chance to hear the mighty Jubilees (as they're supposed to sound with the plug ugly horn) and you could swap the Khorns over here. Dean could drive them down and Mike could take them home. I could put you both up overnight so you could get a fresh start home in the morning. Might even let you take Chloe for her walk in the field. Just be aware of yardbombs.
  13. Craig might be right... but we have Ralph (in London) who bought a pair sight AND sound unseen and then had them shipped halfway across the world. We also have Bob in Seattle who as we sit here, has an order in (Feb build date I think?) and he has never seen nor heard them. We then have Bill (I think it was) in Colorado who's never heard them, thinking about them for his business and last, Rich in Texas who I think has never heard even a LaScala (nor Cornwall nor Belle nor Khorn) and he's thinking about a pair. Sooooooooo, Dean might be in good company OR maybe Mike & I are the only sane ones here given we at least had a 3 minute audition?? [*-)]
  14. Well Dean... if you DO get them... I might know someone that can make some extreme slope passives for them... perhaps if you're lucky, he'll read this thread? [A]
  15. I think the going phrase is 'plug ugly' [] Glad to hear you're getting it worked out though.
  16. Crimeny... getting all excited here and have finger twitch... dupe post.
  17. You SERIOUSLY underestimate my ability to cheat!!! I have some grade 100 alloy chain that my full sized industrial backhoe can't even seem to break!!! Our volunteers will have more chain wrapped around them than a Mafia victom 'jumping' from a bridge...
  18. As a serious comment... if you're not sure Jubilees sound better than what you got... why on earth would you sell what you have, spend more money and not gain in sound?? So...with that...why don't you whip on down here some Saturday for a listen??? might be money/time well spent? If you LOVE the sound, then carry on...if you feel it's no better, than stay where you are. ?? Serious invitation... but if you do it, I might request you bring me a box of Graeters (I'll buy, you carry...cheaper than UPS). Come to think of it...I might ask you bring me a Chesters too...from Hamilton. It'll make a great lunch for us IF you can keep your cotten picking hands off of it on the way. []
  19. Unlimited SPL??? to boot??? or are you goign to handicap me to keeping it under 130 db's?? [6]
  20. Wasn't it under "Oak firewood for sale"?? []
  21. Chambers...weren't you in Lenoir City?? I seem to recall someone in LC selling some stuff and they had a LaScala stuffed into the wall up off the floor??? You still in the area?
  22. Officiating was quite atrocious during the year too (IMHO). I've got it recorded, I can come up with a single play where Bengals had the (thin) lead, defender not only goes in and tackles quarterback, he also causes fumble & bengals recover. Only minute or two left on clock. Bengals ball...run clock out and they win right? (this win would have been enough in hindsight to put them into playoffs) but nooooooooooooooooooo, the ref says the defender roughed the quarterback (huh??? isn't he supposed to TACKLE the qb??) Replay shows (IMHO) it to be a garden variety tackle and not roughing. Net result? Ball stays with (forget team), 15 yards, new set of downs...followed by game winning touchdown (or was it a fieldgoal??) Was a real crap call. It really had the appearance (to me) that the ref simply had it out for the Bengals and used that as an opportunity to give the other team a chance. I hope Chicago & Indy is a close game.
  23. Before I saw it, I honestly thought she was going to get spiked into the ground. I was very surprised (impressed?) with just how far she flung in both directions. I was intrigued on the poles they used to hold the band. Those had to be purpose built/installed??
  24. I admit this LOOKS like it would be fun but I can see more than one way someone could get some serious hurt by this.
