  1. Happy birthday Al! Thanks for all the help over the years with my speaker projects.
  2. Here's what I've been using. It seems to work pretty well. I can store between 375 to 400 LPs in this 32'' w x 36'' h x 22'' d cabinet.
  3. Marvel, Yes, but I think bluesboy asked for a round horn design...Did I misunderstand? Chris That's right. I'm looking for a round design that can be turned on a lathe.
  4. I've been thinking about turning some round horns on my lathe for a while now. Can any of you guys come up with a plot for a 400hz round horn?
  5. Cortez the Killer? correct. Here's another one. In what movie did the barmaid say we have both kinds of music here, country and western?
  6. In what Neil Young song did the lyrics imply that he was reincarnated from an ancient race?
  7. Here's another one. Who played drums on the studio version of You Can't Always Get What You Want by the Stones.
  8. I thought it might be fun to start a thread on Rock n Roll trivia questions. I'll start it off with this one. In the Beatles song Come Together the first line is a direct quote from a Chuck Berry song. The line is here comes old flattop,he come groovin up slowly. The line was used as a tribute to Chuck from John Lennon. Your question is which Chuck Berry song does the line come from?
  9. ......or earings on a hog
  10. I'd go for it. Sounds like you've got a hell of a deal so far.
  11. In my opinion Diana is the sexest woman alive. How she ended up with Elvis Costello is a mystery to me.
  12. I might be in Charlotte in a couple of weeks . I wouldn't mind taking a listen.
  13. My Dads got a Bridgeport milling machine in his shop. I thought you might like to see some of the stuff he's done with metal. He builds scale engines from scratch.
  14. Would De-Oxit work better than wd-40 for cleaning the pins and controls?
  15. Yeah those are 511 horns with Altec 902 drivers. Tweeters are Beyma cp-25s. I'm using ALK universals for crossovers. The front raised panel and top section are made from solid purpleheart. A couple of years ago I closed in the backs and removed the mounting panel for the woofer and bolted the K-33 directly to the part of the cabinet where the 3x13 slot is cut. Both of these mods seemed to improve bass performance.
  16. I don't know why I didn't post a picture of the finished product on this thread. Anyway here's one now.
  17. Wow. Thanks for reviving an old thread. It's nice seeing pics of the old shop. If you can still get Speaker-Lab K-Horn plans for 30 bucks I'd go for it. I found that they were very accurate. Let me know if I can be of any help with your build.
  18. That was awful. As far as I'm concerned The Who was over as a band when Keith Moon died. I'm just glad I didn't hear the line "hope I die before I get old". I was embarrassed for them.
  19. Thanks freddyi. Maybe I'll mess with that tomorrow instead of the endless Super Bowl pre game show.
  20. I have a Fisher tube amp that has developed a intermitent scratchy hiss when I first turn it on untill it warms up say for at least 30-40 minutes. This afternoon when I turned the amp on and the noise started I gave the large transformer on the right a rap with my knuckle and the noise stopped for about ten minutes. When the hiss started again I gave it another love tap and it's been quiet for the last 10 or 15 minutes. Could it be the transformer itself is going bad or could it be something as simple as cleaning some connections? Maybe it's time to ship her to NOS Valves.
