  1. What are the Top 25? Selection Criteria No more than 3 selections from any one composer; All works have to be self-standing Orchesteral Works (excludes opera overtures and incidental music). This would include symphonies, concerti (solo or grosso), symphonic/Tone poems and suites. I'm trying to expand beyond opera. I am putting my list together. Edit: More time to add to my list Vivaldi - The Four Seasons Bach - Brandenburg Concerto No, 2 Bach—Violin Concerto in E Major Haydn—Symphony No. 104 Mozart—Piano Concerto No. 24 in C Minor Mozart—Symphony in C Major, “Jupiter” Beethoven—Symphony No. 3 Beethoven—Piano Concerto No. 4 Beethoven—Symphony No. 9 Schubert—Symphony No. 9 Mendelssohn—“Italian” Symphony Schumann—Symphony No. 3 Brahms—Symphony No. 4 Brahms—Violin Concerto Tchaikovsky—Symphony No. 4 Tchaikovsky—Violin Concerto Bedřich Smetana—Má Vlast Dvořák—Symphony No. 8 Dvořák—Concerto for ’Cello Rimsky-Korsakov—Scheherazade Richard Strauss—Thus Spoke Zarathustra Mahler—Symphony No. 5 Holst - The Planets I think that is 23, and I still have Rachmoninov and Stravinski, etc. @LarryC
  2. That wasn't my impression when I heard them, they were the proto-typical British near field monitor, about mid-80s sensitivity. The sweet spot was extremely limited vertically as well. An inch up or down was pretty critical. The bass sounded artificial, boomy, and one dimensional. They were revealing and sounded quite good in some areas. I have heard the 3D you describe with Khorns, LS (with subs), and Cornwalls, but they were dependant upon well recorded and mixed recordings, room size and treatments.

  4. Welcome to the forum, and as my good friend would say "welcome to the madness."
  5. Picasso's signature on a letter (anything) is worth way, way more than $200.00. There is a radical, radical difference between retail and what a dealer would be willing to pay.
  6. I kind of figured it might be that, been there and done that with a laptop or two.
  7. Is that something that was due to the Xilica having a temperamental/fragile socket? I was wondering because I tend to not be mindful of being gentle pushing USB connectors into and out of any device and I was wondering if I should be taking a bit more care with that. Is the Xilica still your No. 1 choice crossover for sound, specs, etc. Have you run across anything you wanted to compare it to, or that you felt might be better but was significantly more expensive? Travis
  8. I don't think it is copyrighted @garyrc , he is stating very, very basic recording principles that have been set out on many, many books and guides on how critical recording, mastering, etc. is between the kick drum and electric bass. I especially liked his list of representative good examples of how to do it right: Table listing examples of usage of kick drum and electric bass as described in the article Artist Album Year Song Title Producer The B-52's Cosmic Thing 1989 Cosmic Thing Nile Rogers The Cars The Cars 1978 I'm in Touch with Your World Roy Thomas Baker del Amitri Waking Hours 1989 Empty Hugh Jones Dire Straits On Every Street 1991 Heavy Fuel Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits Michael Jackson Dangerous 1992 Dangerous Teddy Riley and Michael Jackson Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin III 1970 Since I've Been Loving You Jimmy Page Annie Lennox Diva 1992 Money Can't Buy it Stephen Lipson Bobby McFerrin many good examples Prince and the NPG Diamonds and Pearls 1991 Gett Off Prince and the NPG Red Hot Chili Peppers Blood Sugar Sex Magik 1991 Funky Monks Rick Rubin Seal Seal 1991 Killer Trevor Horn Steely Dan Gaucho 1980 Hey Nineteen Gary Katz Sting Soul Cages 1991 Mad About You Hugh Padgham and Sting Tears for Fears The Seeds of Love 1989 Woman in Chains TFF and David Bascombe Tina Turner Private Dancer 1984 What's Love Got to Do with It Terry Britten XTC Nonsvch 1992 The Smartest Monkeys Gus Dudgeon Many of those producers listed have extensive recording and mixing experience. These items will be shipped when a crew of Klipsch Museum volunteers will be in Hope, AR next weekend for Watermelon Fest (August 10, 11 and 12). Photos are courtesy of Crutchfield and are not the actual speakers being sold. Here is a review from Crutchfield(before this item was discontinued by KGI): Our take on the Mirage OMNI 150by Crutchfield's Loren Barstow The sleek Mirage OMNI 150 gives you clean, vibrant sound with all your movies and music. It may be Mirage's most affordable bookshelf speaker, but it still delivers room-filling sound using some of the same technologies found in their higher-end models. Innovative design for exceptionally open, lifelike sound The key to this speaker's expansive, true-to-life sound is Mirage's exclusive Omnipolar® technology. Thanks to the saucer-shaped Omniguide mounted above its top drivers, the OMNI 150 can disperse sound evenly in a 360° pattern. The result: a deeper, wider, taller soundstage that transforms your entire listening space into a "sweet spot." Mirage's approach delivers a combination of direct and reflected sound that's more like what we hear in real life. And you won't have to anchor yourself to one primary seat — you'll experience warm, natural audio throughout the room. Flexible placement and system-building options The OMNI 150's compact size and 360° sound pattern let you place it almost anywhere. Set it on a shelf or stand, or mount it on a wall for a cleaner installation. You can use a pair of these speakers for a neat and compact stereo system. Or team multiple OMNI 150s with a powered subwoofer and Mirage's OMNI C150 center channel speaker for enveloping, high-impact surround sound.
  12. So now for the tour, I think Richard ( @guywithwine ) will jump in here and add some comments. As with the previous tour, feel free to ask any questions about the photos and Richard to try to answer them as best as he can. I ( @dwilawyer ) would appreciate any feedback on the size of photos posted, quality of the photos posted, number of photos per post, etc. I have the software @wvu80 recommended that can change the quality and size of photos, and I am still messing around with it and don't know what is optimum for something like this so please bear with me.
