  1. PICS at the IB forum, about 1/2 way down the page Carl P's. I didn't have a digital camera at the time so I used a disposable camera and scanned them. Kinda lo-res shots. It looks MUCH better in person. I was going to make some nice grills and hide them but my wife liked the look of the drivers exposed! Operation. The signal goes from my pre-pro to a BFD for EQ. From there, a cable goes in the wall and comes out in my kitchen to a cabinet above my refrigerator. That's where the sub amp is. The amplified signal goes from there back into the wall and up into the attic to the drivers. The fs on my drivers is 17 Hz. That's pretty low. If you get anything around 25 or lower, you should be able to make it work. You can ask Thomas over at the Cult the 4 x vas question. I've not heard one set up that way. Of note, there are some 12" IB's but they'll run out of gas in larger rooms and have trouble keeping up with efficient speakers (Klipsch).
  2. I am using an XLS-402 and it has relays that disconnect the speaker as part of it's protection system. If power is lost the speakers are disconnected immediately, long before cap discharge can make the pop. Just tried it. Sweet. The only thing he would need to worry about then is making sure the amp powers on after his pre.
  3. When figuring the (cubic) space size for the rear wave, use 10 times the Vas of the driver times the number of drivers you plan on using.
  4. A 12" driver won't work (well) in an IB. It's all about displacement. 15's are generally thought to be the minimum effective driver size.
  5. Dual rear ported...........nice.
  6. If you're doing a new HT build in a room, you should seriously consider an IB. You'll spend a little more for drivers but you'll make up for in in extension. If you're strictly using it for music, stick with the horn loaded sub.
  7. That's cheating[]. Nice work, can't wait to see the finished project.
  8. What about turn off? If the amp is powered on when everything shuts down, you'll get a sizeable "pop" every time you turn it off. It could potentially damage your speakers if done repeatedly. I would think you'd want your caps to power down in the amp before you shut your pre down. More knowledgeable minds may chime in.
  9. Are you looking for just an amp, an amp AND pre-amp or an integrated amp?
  10. 21 dB should be much quieter than stock. I can't see from the pic if it's a 2 or 3 wire fan. If it's a 3 wire, just use the red and black wires, disregard the third wire (normally white).
  11. Been there, done that, would LOVE to do that again. It's a killer cure for the munchies.................................................or so I've been told.
  12. Favorite spot is about 30 to 40 feet away from the KP-250's (and bass bins) in the backyard sitting in a lounge chair with a cold beer on a hot summer day. They sound sooooo good outdoors without any of those nasty room interactions.
  13. Be looking for a nice quiet 24v fan while you're at it.
  14. Any way to manually reset all components?
  15. With ROb's IB, a loose connection is certainly not out of the realm of possibility.
  16. I've got all my PLX2's plugged int a Furman with a TON of capacitance. Never have any problems.
  17. The magenta and green colors make me think of a loss of handshake. I think I'd try another cable.
  18. I've got mine on Carver's. They sound REALLY nice.
  19. 4 months (my daughter got a new camera).
  20. When I sold my +2, I put it on a pallet, drove to the airport and shipped it through Forwardair. It really wasn't very expensive.
  21. In addition, go into your receivers bass management and make sure the subwoofer is set to "on" or "yes", so your receiver knows you have one. If there's a global subwoofer setting (or bass management), set that to "yes" or "on" also. As stated above, be sure your speaker selection is set to "small".
