  1. DUH, just re-read the first fost. I would have stayed away from seperate enclosures as you have done. Do you have any idea what horns and drivers you'll use?
  2. CAKE, last weekend I heard the Lascalas you'll be getting, they sound nice!
  3. How high can those 15's effectively be crossed over? They seem awfully big for a center channel speaker.
  4. I normally use t-nuts with MDF. They're very effective, especially if you want to experiment by swapping drivers. I kind of like MDF, but it IS messy when cutting or routing. Be sure to wear a mask. Looks great though! Will be staying tuned.
  5. Just think what it will do to turntable speed.
  6. Did you hit anything?? How's the shoulder? Technicaly, the first time you heard them they were MY RF-5's[].
  7. Have all the faith you want, but some people just don't know when to [:#]. BTW, just about everybody is 15 min from response.
  8. Thanks. Nothing personal, but if this thread doesn't get locked I'm gonna be pissed.
  9. I haven't had much time to look at broomsticks lately. After I started my "locked" broomstick thread, my mother fell, broke her hip, was in the hospital for a week and a half and then passed. Her funeral was in Florida, which is a whole nother story. Things are just now getting back to normal, well kinda. We're in the process of re-locating my son to Corpus (yet another long story) and time has been at a premium. I do however REALLY like the look of some of those Italian broomsticks. After my son gets moved, after we have a garage sale (don't get me started) and after our new puppy arrives (!) I'll be shopping for a broomstick. That is unless something else pops up[:S].
  10. http://www.technewsworld.com/story/Lytros-New-Camera-Shoot-First-Focus-Later-72721.html?wlc=1308772513 This kinda changes things. What do you think?
  11. I really didn't understand this statement, especially the "this always cabinet placement" part. If you're saying that sealed subs are more versitile as far as placement goes as opposed to other configurations then I would disagree. Ideal placement is more a product of the room and the subs interaction with the room than the type of sub used. Subs can't be put just anywhere. Well, I guess they can be, but they can't be placed just anywhere and then be considered to be in the "ideal" spot. The ideal asthetic placement spot is rarely, if ever, the ideal spot for optimal sub performance in regards to room interaction. You can take a cheap sub and place it in the correct spot in a room and can outperform (at the listening position) a sub costing many times more if it's placed in the wrong spot.
  12. A lot of people use AVIA. I had an ISF calibrater come to the house and set mine up.
  13. I doubt it would help, but it is possible. The best thing to do is to try it and see if you hear or feel a difference. It shouldn't cost much to try.
  14. This is the subwoofer section, so I'll assume you're not talking about Klipsch speakers, but that you are referencing subwoofers with your question. As far as subwoofers go, I can only imagine that they're not the most revered product that Klipsch sells because of their lack of performance versus the money spent, as well as the bad taste that the SUB-10 and SUB-12's amps have left in consumers mouths. This is not based on any facts or scientific studies, but just a personal observation. As far as me personally, I'd never buy any other speaker brand than Klipsch but I wouldn't buy one of their subs. I had one at one time and it was the first piece of my HT that I upgraded.
  15. The 7200 that you are switching from had GOBS of power compared to most receivers. Don't be surprised if some of the newer cheaper receivers don't pack the same "punch" as your old HK. Of course you could overcome that with pre-outs and seperate amps........................oops, nevermind.
  16. GREAT pics dtel and seadog. Looks like a great time. I gotta make it there one year.
  17. Good luck finding a sub that's NOT made of MDF.
  18. I don't think any of your listed subs are going to give you anything useful in the 20Hz or below range.
  19. [Y] They should really round out the bottom end.
  20. I think that's the first time I've ever read that statement on this forum!
  21. There is an increase in gain. There's not an increase in overall output that the sub is capable of. Again, it has the same effect as turning up the gain on the sub amp. There is no extra amp on the other input.
