I was reading an old thread about the use of the loudness control and tone controls on some older gear. One forum member stated: "I have found that people that live with very simple components almost NEVER go back to full featured ones. The only people that tend to argue these points are ones that still have this type of gear. Having lived with both, including an in-home recording studio with every imaginable component around, I can say that the transparency and closeness one feels to the performance is almost always increased with the removal of components from the circuit (with a few exceptions)." I couldn't agree with this assessment more. Last year I had a BBE processor in my system. I went on and on defending it all the while spending too much time jumping up and down and adjusting for each song. When I got my new LaScalas, I realized that the BBE sucked. I removed it and never looked back. My Rega gear only has a volume control, and that's all I'll ever need. Parrot, I owe you an apology. Live and learn.

Throw it out. Monster products will void your warranty and fry your stereo.

I've been very pleased with my Hsu. It's totally musical and never intrusive and boomy. I recall paying around $800 for it.

Tubes are not necessary to enjoy Klipsch speakers. Carefully picked and matched SS components sound wonderful with Klipsch. I tire of hearing the lame argument that only tubes do Klipsch speakers justice. That's just not true. The same applies to vinyl vs cds. Pick your electronics wisely and you'll love the sound.

I have nothing against the seller at all. I just figured they might not be in such hot shape for only $650. The old style are $4000 new, and the new 06's are $5500. I sure wouldn't buy them without an audition first. I figured they were shot and beat up for $650, but hell, what do I know?

HER DIARY: Saturday night I thought he was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a bar to have a drink. I was shopping with my friend all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment. Conversation wasn't flowing so I suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk, he agreed but he kept quiet and absent. I asked him what was wrong he said nothing. He just sat there and watched TV He seemed distant and absent.
