  1. Longer than you want. Shorter than you think.
  2. Didn't realize those schools played football. Good for them.. How 'bout them Horned Frogs!
  3. Been there. Done that. Nice public service reminder fini!
  4. My brother in law has had laser discs for years now. His player has been repaired a few times. The downside for me (now this is really ironic) is that you have to flip the disc in the middle of the movie. Sure there are valid reasons why its different with an lp than it is with a movie, but the hair splitting can get fine...We purchase discs for him when we find them. I recall a very nice transaction with whamo from this forum a couple of years back. Dave if you run across more working players for that kind of money and you don't want it give me a shout? It sounds a lot cheaper than repairs.
  5. Just more proof Marvel of how misunderstood drummers really are...
  6. What? Oh sorry I was staring at that avatar again.
  7. Now when dealing with meat of this nature, long term marination is key, and then depending on the cut, either quick searing or slow cooking is necessary, usually slow cooking with moisture.
  8. Shed of Speakers? (Colter's Shed of Speakers)? or, I may only have one shed but they are full of speakers? Something like "One Shed Colter's Shed of Speakers."
  9. Because they are godless. God hates domes, especially for baseball.
  10. I was thinking of something like "Colter's Shop of Klipsch."
  11. Toddlers do that as part of the learning process, eventually they pick out more subtle clues. Unless they turn out to be drummers.
  12. Maybe playback on headphones is the answer? Assuming you record as the ear hears, then by reproducing through headphones you eliminate any uncontrollable room effects of the end user.
  13. It has to be that the shape of the ear, relaying signals to the brain, is how we discern where sound comes from. That's why we turn our heads in the perceived direction of the sound to confirm. The recording made to duplicate hearing would have to take into account how much signal is perceived from which direction, and in what time alignment. The best way off the top of my head for this would be to take those antique RCA mics you have(well you only have one so you must get another), and configure an "ear" perceptive physical apparatus (shorten to ear-like thingy) or EPPA if you must, record, and then? Ahh, playback is hell right? Let's start by playing it back with pro logic IIx, so we will be at least sticking to some of the original theory. meanwhile, have another beer.
  14. Please tell us of your acquisitions, and after listening, your opinion.
  15. It is labeled "audiophile" and therefore worthy of ignoring.
  16. There you have it fini. Throw a bunch of firecrackers under the house! [6]
  17. That's why congressman or senator will be the most sought after jobs. High pay, fantastic perks, and a pension that puts other private and government pensions to shame. Well , OK that's already true. And what country does a government elite with outsized perks and benefits remind you of? So who is more deceived? Those who rail against the thought of the comparison? Or those who recognize that the difference is simply one of name only? Neither one is a workers paradise, that much is assured.
  18. Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Trilogy. Prog rock taken to the next level, with dynamics from solo instrumental to monstrous super group. Nothing you would hear on the radio, yet one of the most listened to lp's of the cognoscenti. Chick Corea--Return to Forever. The very first RTF lp, before the era of expanded group size. A new direction for jazz, with stellar musicianship and wild vocals. It's a recording that puts you into the studio, very intimate and detailed. The Steeleye Span Story--Original Masters. This is the oddball of the mix. A double lp of 70's versions of old brittish isles folk tunes. Modernized in a way that is not quite kitsch or trivial, yet purely of the period. The songs speak for themselves, and are rendered beautifully thanks mostly to the voice of Maddy Prior. There are some real gems in this mix, with some songs that never lose their relevance.
