I hear ya. I bought my Technics SL-D2 right after my freshman year and still use the thing! When I could afford Klipsch I bought Forte II's and still use those too.

Amazing now anyone can have a bowling alley just like the white house used to. My in-laws building in Honolulu is right next door to what used to be a neighborhood bowling alley. It was a classic 50's 60's style with Hawaiian diorama/mural scenes all around the walls. Too bad it went the way of the drive-in theater a few years back.

The change to zinc pennies was during 1982. Some 82's are copper, some are the newer zinc style. Give the 82's a ping test for the quickest way without a scale. Zinc has a dull sound while copper will have more of a ring.

The short answer is yes. Directors and cinematographers decide upon a "look" for the film and purposely use filters and such to achieve their "artistic" vision. Ever go to an Omnimax show? Those films are made to impress with size and realism and will look much sharper than a typical theatrical release. The best looking movies are those that match the "look" with the story to present a cohesive effect. One thing I have noticed is that animation shows the biggest difference when viewing on an upgraded (over standard television) display. To my eyes, cartoons look fantastic, with sports after that.

I consider myself a treehugger, but not like one of those....where I live we need all the shade we can get. I started with a blank lot and for the past 17 years have been growing my own...trees...and it's really starting to pay off in shade. Long live trees! What I hate to see is developers bulldozing native oaks to put in a subdivision, if that makes me a treehugger then so be it.

It's a tough call for sure. On the face of it I would lean to the heresy set up due to matching all around, but your ears and tweaks will have to figure it out.

What type sounds better under any flooring circumstances, front firing or down firing?

Plastic, reused as kitchen garbage bags. Sometimes paper, for putting shredded paper in for the recycling bin.
