Michael, there was a store (still is but moved locations and no longer sells Klipsch) in Fort Worth that would let, even encourage you to bring in a pair of speakers and a/b them against their speakers. They also had great set-ups already made for a/b listening. Even though the sales guy was probably 90% bs, I liked him, and never bought a product from the place that did not live up to expectations. Even though I was a poor college student or after that just starting out they treated me with respect, and they sold a lot of high end stuff to rich people all the time. They were very patient considering I was the type of guy who might come in for a year to keep listening before finally buying something. I bought my Forte II's there (my first pair) and a couple of other components. It is sad they do not carry Klipsch anymore (some sort of disagreement after the buyout). But anyway, here is a story about a great store that if I had an audio store I would model after in many ways.

If you are sticking with rb-35s then more would be good for surrounds. For more and better responses in this forum you need to explain things like room size and shape, budget, plans if any for upgrading in the future, what you listen most too (music or movies/tv), what power source etc.

As far as feeling strongly about it, I would say yes. Strong enough to recommend it in the owner's instructions.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe he is testing how far the law of unintended consequences can go. The problem with that hypothesis is that with a bump there is now intent, hence interference with the experiment.

Hendrix Michael, for the most part (with musical interludes) it is about the use of technical analysis as a guide for making money in the market. It is sort of like palm reading. You may think it's total bs but if enough people believe in it and act on it then it has a certain self fulfilling prophesy aspect. There is still enough of this stuff around that even those who don't buy into the idea pay attention to it because enough others act using it, so it factors into the guessing and second guessing decisions (keep in mind these are educated and experienced guesses) that ultimately make up the market as a whole. I just had an issue with a Bunn coffee maker which is 8 yrs old and they sent me a kit to fix it for free. It was out of warranty too. Only usa companies will provide this type of service. We had an issue with a countertop dishwasher which was in warranty made by an asian company and never got satisfaction. Eventually we just wrote it off as lost money. Guess which company we are likely to purchase from again?

Pressing on the cone while it is active does serve to keep it from hitting the voice coil if there is a mis-alignment for whatever reason, if you press the right spot. I know from experience during a re-foam surround project. I had to loosen the surround and reglue it properly aligned.

You can always hang stuff from the rafters with a little ingenuity, pointing the surrounds appropriately. It really depends on how much trouble you want to go through and/or how much you are allowed to. A ceiling speaker would probably not be as effective as a box suspended in some way, but that being said it is your space and most everyone has to deal with compromises here until they have the budget to build a dedicated room. I certainly don't have a dedicated room, we play the cards we're dealt. You are better off with surrounds than no surrounds, whatever it is.

Jay, my Dad lived in Toms River for close to 20 years +/- and I never heard much complaining, except that it wasn't Texas. When he finally retired they moved back down here to be close to the grandkids. They also used the term it's not so bad, or even it's pretty nice up here. I do hear that there is freaky deliverance type stuff deep in the Pines.......

I lived in Honolulu for a few years, it is expensive but easy to get used to. You don't spend much money on clothes there, or at least you don't have to. You spend lots more time outside and stay pretty healthy too. Jeff, both my parents were born and raised in Dallas, I was born out of state (military) but have lived the majority of my life in north central Texas. Most of the extended family is also in Texas. Technically if you apply US citizenship laws to Texas (and why not as a previously independent nation) I am a Texan. As far as weather is concerned, an old boss from my younger years told me (he was from Biloxi) you can always jump into the pool but you can't jump into the fire! Kind of sums it up for the southern perspective.
