  1. As far as feeling strongly about it, I would say yes. Strong enough to recommend it in the owner's instructions.
  2. Like I said Kholic, "It Ain't That Pretty at All."
  3. You have it pretty sound. I tried to not get too technical with additional details.
  4. I was wondering the same thing. Maybe he is testing how far the law of unintended consequences can go. The problem with that hypothesis is that with a bump there is now intent, hence interference with the experiment.
  5. Excellent point Michael. The only insurance most people need is term life, housing, and mandated car insurance.
  6. ~ALL DISCLAIMERS APPLY~ 'If you lived around me you might see some minds being blown' J. Hendrix Michael, for the most part (with musical interludes) it is about the use of technical analysis as a guide for making money in the market. It is sort of like palm reading. You may think it's total bs but if enough people believe in it and act on it then it has a certain self fulfilling prophesy aspect. There is still enough of this stuff around that even those who don't buy into the idea pay attention to it because enough others act using it, so it factors into the guessing and second guessing decisions (keep in mind these are educated and experienced guesses) that ultimately make up the market as a whole. Understand now?
  7. Well..... I bought the Ducati. [][][] Another beautiful day. Another one seduced by Italian machinery. Enjoy!
  8. Way to go WPM! You might also find that cymbals sound more realistic compared to many of the artificial cymbal highs of other speakers.
  9. Good luck for sure. I hope it solves your problem. You are wrong about unheard of in the usa though. I just had an issue with a Bunn coffee maker which is 8 yrs old and they sent me a kit to fix it for free. It was out of warranty too. Only usa companies will provide this type of service. We had an issue with a countertop dishwasher which was in warranty made by an asian company and never got satisfaction. Eventually we just wrote it off as lost money. Guess which company we are likely to purchase from again?
  10. Post season. and Start of a season. Today is a great day. 3 baseball playoffs, 2 start of season hockey games, and a new South Park all on TV in one day. here's where I stand: no domes. no steinbrenner teams. go stars!
  11. Pressing on the cone while it is active does serve to keep it from hitting the voice coil if there is a mis-alignment for whatever reason, if you press the right spot. I know from experience during a re-foam surround project. I had to loosen the surround and reglue it properly aligned.
  12. you make a great point patrick. (santa barbara is not that bad though, not that bad like NJ right?) yes, I've been there, and it really is not that bad. Question: What's a used car in santa barbara? Answer: A fully restored classic or a new one just driven off the lot. (wink, Smile) Thanks Duke for the words of wisdom. Sometimes I am tempted, now I can picture Spinner in the back of my mind saying noooo....nooooooooooo.
  13. Sorry to hijack your thread Chris. It does illustrate how gregarious and fun loving Texans are.
  14. Oh yeah. I also watch sports and cartoons. I'm a regular renaissance man like most drummers. Too bad I live in the 21st century. (I love having fun; like Jacques Cousteau I wish I were a sea otter).
  15. As little as possible, lol. My wife and I work for an airline right now, not retired, still dreaming.
  16. You can always hang stuff from the rafters with a little ingenuity, pointing the surrounds appropriately. It really depends on how much trouble you want to go through and/or how much you are allowed to. A ceiling speaker would probably not be as effective as a box suspended in some way, but that being said it is your space and most everyone has to deal with compromises here until they have the budget to build a dedicated room. I certainly don't have a dedicated room, we play the cards we're dealt. You are better off with surrounds than no surrounds, whatever it is.
  17. Jay, my Dad lived in Toms River for close to 20 years +/- and I never heard much complaining, except that it wasn't Texas. When he finally retired they moved back down here to be close to the grandkids. They also used the term it's not so bad, or even it's pretty nice up here. I do hear that there is freaky deliverance type stuff deep in the Pines.......
  18. I think I mentioned that I have an MBA in Finance. (University of North Texas) I took as many courses about markets that I could, including a year of derivatives. I agree with you about Ft. Worth vs. Dallas. I am up in Denton now, even better.
  19. I lived in Honolulu for a few years, it is expensive but easy to get used to. You don't spend much money on clothes there, or at least you don't have to. You spend lots more time outside and stay pretty healthy too. Jeff, both my parents were born and raised in Dallas, I was born out of state (military) but have lived the majority of my life in north central Texas. Most of the extended family is also in Texas. Technically if you apply US citizenship laws to Texas (and why not as a previously independent nation) I am a Texan. As far as weather is concerned, an old boss from my younger years told me (he was from Biloxi) you can always jump into the pool but you can't jump into the fire! Kind of sums it up for the southern perspective.
  20. Last year the best deals were right after Christmas. Although they were not bad just before. This is in general. Your old one is more of a hot rod than my new (almost 2yrs) one. Big screens are nice, we like our lcd (only 17").
  21. You forgot the worst part about Houston... Flat is not so bad especially if you like to ride bicycles. Hot and Humid is the key. Of course there is always Phoenix. It's that blow torch heat, nice and dry. It is in Texas![6] Good to see you back on a regular basis Jeff.
  22. Jeff, I worked out of Chicago for 5 years. It is a great city (the city that works, er whatever it takes). It has a rougher edge than Texas cities for sure and the weather is atrocious in the winter, which by the way is about 7 months out of the year. All in all a pretty cool town, although I would still rather live in Boston instead of Chicago. Of course, what passes for pretty up there (besides the occasional hot babe which occur in some numbers almost everywhere) would be basic girl next door in Texas. (smile wink) One of the girls I attended college with was from Lake Forest (north of Chicago) or somewhere like that. I think she was on the cover of Seventeen when in high school. Anyway, she is one of the most perfect specimens I have ever seen either in person or photos. And no everyone I don't have any photos of her to post, after all digital cameras were'nt invented yet. But back then she would just melt you to your knees, and had a nice personality to match.
  23. I want the pre-pro and amps (architects choice 17" wide) so bad! Too bad I bought a car instead. Still, there's always next year, plus the car really is fun too. Like OB says, autos and sound are such enjoyable vices.
  24. how did my thread turn into window (ligitamate) to college girls (still legit sorta) to now just plain old drugs and shrooms..... Jay, you have now become personally acquainted with the Law of Unintended Consequences.
