Thanks that helps so unless for some odd reason record labels start releasing tapes or unless you stumble on a huge tape archive it is too much of a pain in the ***. Comprende But the spinning wheels are so hypnotic mu mu mu must get reel to reel.

I am just abit confused & don't really believe what I have been told or I just don't understand. A friend is into reel to reel playback. I think he has an old Akai aparatus. He apparently takes new cd's and records them to tape and says that the sound quality is better this way. He then listens to the tape instead of the CD. No Comprende? If this was true I would imagine alot more people would have reel to reels. I know of a local band that prefers to record to tape but that makes sense to me. Is this fact or fiction or simply a preference?

Room treatment experiment, try not to laugh.

She saw it just before she left. She got a big smile on her face and asked me if I was decorating for Halloween! She's actually pretty tolerant of such things, at least for a while. Lynette's a creative type. When I told her what it was for, I could see she had ideas stirring in her mind. I have a feeling she's going to see this as an opportunity to do some serious decorating. I'd love to get a bunch of large potted plants. They look great, and I've been to many an audio "salon" that uses them for diffusion. I just hope my thumb is green enough to keep them healthy. ---------------- 1.Does she have a sister? 2.Plants as diffusers what a great idea hadn't even thought of that bloody brilliant. -
Even if I could afford it, I am not sure I would do it.

I could get plenty comfortable in that room. No problemo! I enjoy listening to music alone anyhow great downtime. It seems if someone is over they always want to change the tunes just as I am starting to get into it. solo. -

Cuckoo for Coco Puffs I think you should leave it up until the GF gets back and then post her reaction -
ok don't tease the animals must see pictures of these twins of which you speak! Squirrel Nut Zippers - Hell In the afterlife You could be headed for the serious strife Now you make the scene all day But tomorrow there'll be Hell to pay People listen attentively I mean about future calamity I used to think the idea was obsolete Until I heard the old man stamping his feet. This is a place where eternally Fire is applied to the body Teeth are extruded and bones are ground Then baked into cakes which are passed around. Beauty, talent, fame, money, refinement Top skill and brain But all the things you try to hide Will be revealed on the other side. Now the D and the A and the M and the N and the A And the T and the I-O-N Lose your face, lose your name Then get fitted for a suit of flame

I once drove an hour to look at some la scalas but when i got there it was made of bad plywood and not a single original klipsch part in it. There was no identifier as to who made it but fortunately I could tell it was a cheap knock off ooh I was mad. When I left the conartists house I was pulled over by the police and asked how much meth I bought lol I laughed at and said not enough. He did not laugh. I got searched but after he was finished and heard my story he just laughed and told me to go to hope. I drove to Fayetteville, AR the next weekend and bought some beautiful Belle's and a walnut custom made isobaric sub.

I noticed that Hagerman was well thought of by the members of this forum. Has anyone listened to this phono pre http://www.hagtech.com/cornet2.html . I really want a George Wright Phono Pre but it could be a while before I have the funds so in the meantime I was looking at this kit from hagerman.

Anyone interested in DIYing your PP2A3 amp?
seti replied to Painful Reality's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
The only thing that keeps me from trying a diy project like is this is the disclaimer I usually see that says danger improper installation can kill you dead or something like that. Is there a DIY newbie guide to keep yourself from getting electrocuted? I mean electroshock therapy is a little dated nevermind DIY home electroshock therapy. I'd love to hear some 2a3 push pulls. -
If the trumpet sounds as good as it looks....yummy

I live in little rock so that would be a short drive. I think I mentioned it earlier but when I upgrade crossovers I would also like to upgrade the speaker wire going to the horns/driver. What speaker wire would you recommend? PM the price. Thanks again

A quick ebay search turned up the following crossovers. I didn't realize it was such an inexpensive upgrade. Arkansas Cedar For Arkansas Horns Excellent http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14993&item=5724902963&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14993&item=5725263188&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW Never heard of B&K Audio out of Russelville, AR which is close enought to me to drop by pick up. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14993&item=5725807107&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW What price range is good for these crossovers would hate to ever pay too much

__________ Looks to me like you have the perfect environment for the ALKs, low-power SET. I don't know much about OTL, but I doubt it likes big impedance swings any better than any other SET. __________ This is the first time I've seen it mentioned that SET benefits more from acrossover upgrade. Even though I have a couple more purchases to make before I think about an upgrade a crossover swap or upgrade is in the future for my belle's. What would be a better upgrade for my belle's an upgraded AA or some of those ALk's ? My SET's are 8wpc if that matters. I was also looking at the speaker wire runnning from the crossover to the horns/driver and they looked pretty wimpy should these be upgraded as well or am I just being picky? thanks

Wow thanks for all the replies. I thought it was just me at first but some days my system sounds better than at other days. I suppose weather and especially sinus problems would make sense in the sound of a system and how we hear a system. Now I need a silent dehumidifier....well maybe thats a little extreme. I still have to tone my room down it is a little too live need to get some tapestries for the walls.

I was looking at the decware cdp as well but it is a toss up between the decware tube cdp and the Ah! Joeb 4000 w/upsmapler. I have been leaning toward the Ah! just because so many people on this forum hold it in high regard.

What effect does humidtity have an a system ?

I wish I knew what people don't hear from SET amps. I'd like to borrow some PP amps for a couple weeks perhaps I am missing something here but so far I like SET. I didn't realize there were only 7 of us time to do some breeding hey where are the females on this forum ? In the future I hope to have a pair of quad II's as these were the amps that convinced me that tubes sound amazing.
