You put a big strip firmly on your chest and then have your parter rip it off at the proper time....ahhhhhgghhh ---------------- Reminds of that hotel room scene from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas While "White Rabbit" blares from a tinny tape player, Dr. Gonzo (completely dressed . . . well, at least from the waist up) soaks in his own filth in the bathtub, the water a putrid brown, pleading with Duke to toss the tape recorder into the water when the song hits its peak. 2. The only thing that keeps me from trying a diy project like is this is the disclaimer I usually see that says danger improper installation can kill you dead or something like that. Is there a DIY newbie guide to keep yourself from getting electrocuted? I mean electroshock therapy is a little dated nevermind DIY home electroshock therapy. I'd love to hear some 2a3 push pulls.
  3. If the trumpet sounds as good as it looks....yummy
  4. i just read in one of the local mags that pharoah sanders will be playing in little rock twice in one month. from what i read in the local mag this should be a great show but i take reviews with a grain of salt is this a must see or a must miss ?

Bob Crites ---------------- Excellent! I live in little rock so that would be a short drive. I think I mentioned it earlier but when I upgrade crossovers I would also like to upgrade the speaker wire going to the horns/driver. What speaker wire would you recommend? PM the price. Thanks again

  7. A quick ebay search turned up the following crossovers. I didn't realize it was such an inexpensive upgrade. Arkansas Cedar For Arkansas Horns Excellent http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14993&item=5724902963&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14993&item=5725263188&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW Never heard of B&K Audio out of Russelville, AR which is close enought to me to drop by pick up. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14993&item=5725807107&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW What price range is good for these crossovers would hate to ever pay too much

  9. __________ Looks to me like you have the perfect environment for the ALKs, low-power SET. I don't know much about OTL, but I doubt it likes big impedance swings any better than any other SET. __________ This is the first time I've seen it mentioned that SET benefits more from acrossover upgrade. Even though I have a couple more purchases to make before I think about an upgrade a crossover swap or upgrade is in the future for my belle's. What would be a better upgrade for my belle's an upgraded AA or some of those ALk's ? My SET's are 8wpc if that matters. I was also looking at the speaker wire runnning from the crossover to the horns/driver and they looked pretty wimpy should these be upgraded as well or am I just being picky? thanks
  10. Wow thanks for all the replies. I thought it was just me at first but some days my system sounds better than at other days. I suppose weather and especially sinus problems would make sense in the sound of a system and how we hear a system. Now I need a silent dehumidifier....well maybe thats a little extreme. I still have to tone my room down it is a little too live need to get some tapestries for the walls.
  11. I was looking at the decware cdp as well but it is a toss up between the decware tube cdp and the Ah! Joeb 4000 w/upsmapler. I have been leaning toward the Ah! just because so many people on this forum hold it in high regard.
  12. What effect does humidtity have an a system ?
  13. I wish I knew what people don't hear from SET amps. I'd like to borrow some PP amps for a couple weeks perhaps I am missing something here but so far I like SET. I didn't realize there were only 7 of us time to do some breeding hey where are the females on this forum ? In the future I hope to have a pair of quad II's as these were the amps that convinced me that tubes sound amazing.
  14. Kick your Quads to my house I have been wanting to hear those really bad!

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup, They slither while they pass they slip away across the universe Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind, Possessing and caressing me Jai guru de va om Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes, They call me on and on across the universe, Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box they Tumble blindly as they make their way Across the universe Jai guru deva om Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Sounds of laughter, shades of earth are ringing Through my open ears inciting and inviting me Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns and calls me on and on Across the universe Jai guru deva om Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world
  19. Shouldn't preamps be silent? Try another set of 6sn7's just for the hell of it and I bet you don't even hear the tap tap tap on the preamp. ---------------- Yes, with the other tubes mentioned in the first post it is silent when tapping, but those tubes are not as musical and tonally balanced as the RCA's. I'll accept the trade off for now, until I find a better replacement. Tom ---------------- I see.... I think I'll pick up some vibrapods and dampeners for my pre and give those other 6sn7's another shot.

I don't experience that howling any longer, the only microphonics I expereience is tapping sound I hear when I'm switching from one input to another or if I tap on the body of the pre itself. I'll listen for a while and change out with other tubes for comparison. Sometimes the answer is right infront of you but ya can't see it. Thanks for the flash light guys. Tom ---------------- Shouldn't preamps be silent? Try another set of 6sn7's just for the hell of it and I bet you don't even hear the tap tap tap on the preamp.
  21. I just had this issue with my preamp. The sovtek 6sn7's for lack of a technical term lost their mind. I could tap on the floor or tap on the preamp and it would come through the belle's. I replaced the sovteks with sylvanias and no problem so far dead quiet.
