  1. Sound like a fiar deal ! LOL "I will trade you an "as new" KSW-12 for your KSW-15." And what about if my KSW15 is "as new"? Funny I too want to trade...a Dynaudio Contour 3.3 for a Dynaudio Confidence 5. Anybody interested? TheEAR(s) Now theears
  2. Yes you can use the sats with the Denon 1802 or any reciever that has bass managment. You must cut the bass at 80 or 100Hz. If you dont cut the bass you will end up with a damaged mid-bass driver(s).The 3" mid-bass was designed to work with a specific amp and cut from any low bass. You must use a sub(KSW10 or 12...or any other small sub)with this setup to get any real bass. I would opt for the Quintets, much better sound qality. And on a final note the ProMedia sats will not take a true 60W RMS.I can test this claim with a Carver TFM-75 with its power output meters. Remember that speakers that can take 60W RMS can also take peaks of over 200W,can the ProMedia sats take the beating. Not for long. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  3. The first wave of control pods used lower quality parts, this is what causes the Volume pot to go bad after just a few months. The problem is not dust, the contacts get used fast and grind.Turn down,up and down and up and down and down and up and up and up and down...you get the picture. Most users like to abuse(use OFTEN)the volume control like me and end up with these problems. The contol pod(preamp)should have a much better quality volume control, the volume is often changed, the bass level and fader only in some cases. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  4. Poor me LOL yes a trade in program is interesting, but I like to keep my old junk. Its just me. And right now my junk is a 1.2GHz Tualatin P3 system with the ASUS TUSL2 mobo. My main junk is a P4 1.8GHz @ a shade over 2GHz! And the mid-fi is a trusty Athlon 1.4GHz with a Swiftech MC462 and Delta 68CFM fan. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  5. Tilting the speaker(magnetic field)helps, most of the time the tilt is not ideal for the difusion of sound. Even very large magnets can be placed quite close to a TV monitor with few negative efects!I have two Sunfire(Signature and Mark II)sub close to a TV and the way the magnetic field is oriented does not cause any articats on screen! And I am talking about 15 lbs magnets(over 30lbs magnetic structure)! TheEAR(s) Now theears
  6. Good to know Justin,I will just play my cards right. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  7. "This is not recommended" And THE REASON IS? I know where you are going with this ProMedia Tech, most will damage the drivers by pushing them beyond the designated task. I know how speakers work and the limitations, the ProMedia sats can serve as sats without the sub.The problems would be to cut the bass off and not overpower the sats. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  8. Ray Garrison its a sin,how could you post three times in a row! How could you? I know you want to take a lead here but still,at least give me a chance to catch up.Dont worry,on the Neoseeker board I did more then just catch up. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  9. Justin you scared DB Vader! You have no heart, how could you outpost DB Vader,at least you could give him a HOPE! Hope he could almost outpost ya,and then go for what was left! LOL Good job,it was fun to see the post competition while it lasted. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  10. I would get the Antec 400W PSU. I have a P4 1.8GHz,a P3 1.2GHz and a Athlon 1.4Ghz and all three computers use the 400W Antec, never had ANY problems.I also have a spare 650W Enermax waiting to go in my new project,a dual Athlon(Palomino) system. Only a BIG dually with at least 2GB RAM would need a son of a gun 650W Enermax. The Antec 400W PSU is a winner. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  11. Forresthump the Revel B15 is no way beat in terms of bass definition,I don know where you took this from. The BIG velo is one heck of a sub, this is why I will get one before the year end.In terms of low bass, yes the HGS18 has any sub defeated. It can go to below 16 Hz with ease. Velodyne should make some kind of HGS18SE version,SE would have a sturdier cabinet and a driver with a greater peak to peak then it has now,and 250-500 watts more(20 AMP dedicated line needed?).Then run not walk to the closest Velo dealer and get one.Still the HGS15 and 18 kick serious SPL and go down LOW. There is a sub that beats all others with ease but its price is so high most here would puke. The Krell Master Reference Sub with its twin 15"(3 inch peak to peak)drivers(over 80lbs of magnet on each driver!!!!)with the Krell 2400W RMS ...Krell amp(who better! LOL) all housed in a solid alloy cabinet(the sub weighs over 400lbs!).Now this is a world leader...but at $35000 its out of my budget and out of 99% of the audiophiles budget. I hope to hear the RSW15 soon, its its A ok then its a go. I cant wait,RSW15 and HGS18 added to my power pack! LOL TheEAR(s) Now theears
  12. You dont need a 450 or 650 Enermax to provide ample power to even a BIG Athlon setup. I use the Antec 400W PSU and I have a BIG setup with several Delta fans and 10 & 15K SCSI drives and all is fine. The Antec power supply is a quality PSU with the power for almost any system. Just stay far far away from any cheapo PSU's rated at 300W.Unless its Antec,Enermax or Delta TheEAR(s) Now theears
  13. The outlets on the back of most recievers are to conect CD players,DVD players, tape decks and such. One or more should be switched, its not there to conect any power amp. Power amps should always have a dedicated outlet on a separate breaker. If a large reciever and power amp share the same 15 amp outlet you may have breaker problems. Most will not have these as you need over 15 amps to set the breaker. With my amps and subs I have to use multiple dedicated outlets. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  14. The subwoofer should move alot of air, even if the sub does not face you,you will feel the low bass.As the air is compressed in the room. Even a small Carver Knight Shadow when facing the wall gives a BIG impact. Any RSW sub should give a great impact. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  15. LOL Look Justin takes advantage here,he WILL repply to almost all posters here to bump his number of posts! And this is why DB Vader lost the race! Me thinks,me thinks,me do the same! TheEAR(s) Now theears
  16. 4 year warranty on a computer! LOL Did you know a computer loses over 80% of its value after 3 years!Never ever buy extended warranty plans on computers. If you get a High-End monitor like at least a 21" SONY or at least a 17" panel then yes buy a warranty.Hard-Drives often break, fail(bad sectors)so yes hard-drives too.But then Quantum,Maxtor,WesterDigital give a 3 year warranty to begin with. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  17. Let me be the first to say CONGRATULATIONS Dont cry next time, just the control pod needs to be changed.Often when you use the volume on a regular basis the problems start after a few months. Use measure, restrict abusive touching of volume knob! LOL TheEAR(s) Now theears
  18. Yes you CAN use ProMedia sats with a regular reciever/amp. You need bare wire to 1/8" jack cables. You can buy made(often cheap thin wire)or make it yourself,or even better let the audio shop make the wires for you(will cost ya!). Then just make sure you use some bass managment, cut off the sats at 80Hz or you will damage the mid-bass drivers fast with any serious volume. After you set the amps to "small" you can use the ProMedia sats as a poorman's version of Quintets. Just be sure to use a sub(not too big that can climb up to 100Hz or so to supply the punch). And dont get careless on the volume knob. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  19. Nutball I went thru this volume pod crackling too.The newer control pod for the Klipsch solves the problem. The first control pods(preams if you prefer)were of poor quality. The newer ones dont fail like the first wave. And if the speakers would be made in the USA you would have to pay more then $250.They are made in China to cut the costs to the max. This way Klipsch makes some money, the middle man too and you end up paying only $250.True quality control is sometimes shaky. I prefer paying $400 and get American or Canadian made speakers. This supports local economy. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  20. And how did you discover this? Its not a question of sides, top or bottom here. The drivers magnets should all be shielded, the 3" mid bass driver is shielded. The tweeter may be not,the tiny magnet is so small. I did not see any color degradation on my monitor, only Klipsch Quintets cause color distortion!I have to separate them at least 6-8 inches away from the monitor! TheEAR(s) Now theears
  21. Justin you are one funny poster! What age are you? What color do you prefer? Any news? Who is Mickey Mouse? LOL Man you try to outpost all other here!I have a tip for you go to the Pro Audio and Home Audio sections there is plenty of room left!Do like me,I post in all sections! You'll see in one year I will have over 3000 posts!LOL TheEAR(s) Now theears
  22. Well if the speakers sound distorted when you conect them to another source then the amp could have a problem. The optional preamp will improve the sound,a bit.The change(crossover)is in each satelite speaker. If you look at www.gamersdepot.com review you will see they took pictures of the sats open,Notice the simple capacitor in the first version. Now look at the pics in the Klipsch 2.1 review(Klipsch 2.1 and 4.1 sats are identical). Now you see the crossover!Yes there is s coil, not just a capacitor. I would still go to the dealer and ask for the fix,its your right.belive me I had three sets of ATP5 speakers die on me!Three sets, and they had to refund me in the end.So the store is not doing you any favor, the warranty is not here for nothing. 23. WOW the patented mounting system is sure popular! With all the posts you could as well make a Hofy board! And I see there is a post war here,I saw Justin knock out DB Vader with massive posts! LOL Just to warn you Justin, you better keep the pace because TheEAR(s) is very resolved to have 1000 posts by Christmas! And I started to post two weeks ago,I registered long time ago but never used the Klipsch board. On the Neoseeker audio board I have over 530 in about three months. And almost 200 here(in...two weeks?) LOL In a year I will have over 3000-4000 posts!Watch out Justin. LOL The EAR(s) is an insane audiophile and poster! TheEAr(s) Now theears
  24. Very nice ShapeShifter,I can see you are a true Klipsch man.You even have framed Klipsch adds! Nothing too fancy just a very classy setup. And the HT setup is loaded with Classic Klipsch(on the sides). How much more Klipsch speakers can you fit in? With all the large Klipsch speakers you dont need too many watts to make movies and music come alive. The Outlaw amp in your HT system is a nice bonus. Good setup, very nice. TheEAR(s) Now theears
  25. The Klipsch RSW15 should be very close to the HGS18, I know it will not give more output at 30Hz then the HGS18.The HGS18 has a mighty 18" woofer with a 2" peak to peak. This means AIR IS MOVED,ALOT OF AIR. And then you have the tiny Sunfire Signature(13" cube) with 117.3dB at 30Hz! Two tiny Sunfires Signature would generate over 123dB @ 30Hz.And the BIG Velo was corner loaded for the maximum output test! Now you can see why with all my subs I can claim such a huge output! Oh an the Revel B15 with a 15" driver beats the largest most powerful Velo in output and quality! The Revel B15 uses a 15" driver with a 3" peak to peak cone travel.1000W RMS amp and can belt out almost 125dB at 30Hz!This is for ONE sub! WHO BETTER WHO BETTER? I would like to compare the SVS Ultra to the above subs. TheEAR(s) Now theears
