If Roger Russell's tests are "Staked out opinions" then most everything all of us has added is FAR LESS. The man went to fairly deep lengths to ensure his test was as scientific as possible in terms of testing a hypothesis in a controled environment. One thing is without doubt, no one, on this board or in this world can change the laws of physics, specifically impedance, capacitance, and imductance. I'll keep as open a mind as possible given my background but most anyone involved in audio from a hobby player, to an "Audiophile," or a professional Audio Engineer with a resume in theory and practice will agree that the biggest scam currently in the industry is cable companys selling snake oil products at outrageous prices to ignorant consumers. Hearing is believing,...that much I agree with. I have spent so much time reading all I can on the subject as I have been making my own connectors and speaker wire, (as a hobby) for about three years. My crowning achievement thus far was a side by side at a local high end stereo shop with some $800. connectors verses mine that I made via a recipe from the internet which cost me slightly less than $40.00. Between a CD and a Pre and between a amp and pre amp no one at the shop full of "Experts" could tell the difference. It was such a wonderful feeling changing the cables with a guy form the shop and watching them try to figure out one form the other. Last weekend I bought a pair of Audio Physic "Yaras" from a local guy who had an ad on Audiogon and went over to his place to audition the speakers on his system. He had some fairly serious coin in his two channel system, (I figure about twenty five grand retail) and he was using quite expensive silver speaker wires. There was no way to do a side by side between his gear and mine but it's no surprise his system sounded out of this world. With his gear and a far superior listening room the Audio Physic Yaras made Riki Lee Jones voice sound as good as it does on my LaScalas. (My favorite track for comparison of the fantastic highs of a womans voice on LaScalas is "On Saturday Afternoons in 1963") Riki Lee Jone's voice on this track almost brings me to tears everytime I hear it. By the way this fella with the Audio Physic Yaras was a true gentleman in that he took mercy on me and sold me the pair for a GREAT price verses what his was asking for them! (Needless to say I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS!) The main reason I love this site is the people. Most seem far more into the reality of high fidelity rather than the smoke and mirrors that is driven by the high end magazines like Stereophile. Bottom line is I can't see me ever having access to very expensive speaker wires to try in a side by side with my gear at my home because I'm not going to blow that much money on speaker wire. IF there is a difference between common speaker wire that I can construct myself and ultra expensive speaker wire by most accounts it is subtile. I can live with subtile. Regards,

I am the porud owner of a pair of KP 301's that I use in my basemant system. (They are strapped to the ceiling) I change out several amplifiers and pre amp combos with them. On this system I usually play my old favorite rock and roll, (Zep,, The Who, ect.) with very high gain, they really can shake the house. Great Speakers,...and bullet proof! No it's not off topic,..Joe Walsh rocks!! For years I tried to put my finger on what makes an outstanding musician, I mean with the different styles it seemed so hard to judge. Then it came to me. I've seen so many really top notch musicians with no name bands and wondered why they never made it to the big time. (I mean the REALLY big time) There are some gutar players who are so UNIQUE that whenever you hear them you know there is only one person who could be playing, because NO ONE else can make a gutar sound like that. Quite a few come to mind, but as an example Eddie VanHalen doesn't do THAT much for me but when you hear that guy you know right away that it's GOT to be him, because there just isn't anyone else who can make a gutar sound like that. So there are several gutar players who really do it for me, and Joe Walsh is one of them. Sometimes I still put on "In The City" loud enough for the walls of the house to shake just to hear what that guy can make a gutar do. I just got through listening to George Harrison on "All Things Must Pass" and because of who he played with might not have recieved the attention he deserved. Listen to him on "Isn't It a Pity." Hello All; My issue(s) are two fold. One, I'm cheap. And two I don't want to pick up some "Bug" in my computer. (A third might also be I'm only slightly computer literate.) I have two MP3 players, one is an iPod and the other is a generic brand that I wnt to use to listen when I'm on long lonely roads on my bicycle. As I said I'm cheap, only slightly computer literate, and I don't want to pick up some bug in my computer. (spyware included) If another person I know has downloaded songs on an MP 3 player isn't there some way I can just load individual songs,....or the whole darn thing onto my MP3/iPod? Can I put a music CD into my computer and download a song on to my computer and then transfer it to my iPod/MP3 player? (I told you I was only slightly computer literate!) Is ther any place I can go to pay to have a really good mix of specific music loaded on one of my MP3 format players? Well I did have to pull my McIntosh C11 pre amp out of the system and replace in with one of my trusty spares,....a Carver C4000 that I had Rita at Carver/Sunfire go through a year and a half ago. Now everything works up to snuff,...even the sub! Thanks again everyone, Regards,

You guys are tops. Once I realized that the colors mean very little if anything I was halfway there! I will say that the manual Akai printed for this has a page that shows a diagram of the back of the T.V. and things like "S/Audio" "Video1" (knowing that there are more than TWENTY on all) and NO WHERE does it list soemthing as simple as DVD/CD ect. The most helpful information was knowing that the colors mean almost nothing,...at least that I can figure out. I got the darn thing hooked up and I must say it's pretty cool to watch a movie through my LaScala's and Carver True Sub! Thanks for all the help with my first "Trip" into home video. As I've found out in all four of my two channel HiFi's this site is outstanding in terms of the real world help one can receive. Fond Regards,

Jeeze Louise I hope someone here can help me with this. I have been using a Toshiba 3960 CD/DVD player for my two channel HiFi because of the 24/192 audio. I just bought a new Akai LCT 2060 20" t.v that I want to play DVD's on through my Toshiba unit. I bought the three lead cable(s) (Red, Blue, and Green) and plugged them into the red, blue, green on the DVD player and matched them to THE ONLY RED,BLUE, GREEN on the back of the T.V. and no matter what I do it will not play the video. There are plenty of RED and WHITE coded connectors on the back of the T.V. but only one BLUE and ONE GREEN. I thought it would be simple enough but I was WRONG. The Freaking direction are meant for many countrys and so there is nothing in them that just says where to connect a DVD player. On the back of the T.V. there are lots of video "IN" but they are color coded either WHITE< or RED, but only ONE GREEN and ONE BLUE. I thought the logical choice would be to have them connected in line to the RED, BLUE, and GREEN that are right next to one another. But again, that will not give me video. Oh, for audio I have connected them into the "AUDIO OUT" and have them playing through my LaScalas. I'd appreciate any help you guys might be able to give. Regards, Bill Woodward

Thanks for both the specs on EPOS as well as the RF35 kilpsch. I'll admit I hadn't thought ab out the RF35 out of ignorance. I didn't even think Klipsch made anything that would fit my application. here in Portland, Oregon a place called Echo audio sells EPOS and you can pick up a pair of the 303's for $595.00. I have bought a fair amount of gear from Kirt, (at Echo) and thinking about the EPOS. I don't however think they will be effecient enough for my application. Regards, Bill

Hello all; The is for a bedroom system and space is a PRIME factor. These will fit but I will be driving the speakers I get with a 1962 ALTEC Astro Reciever, (it puts out a little over twenty watts a side) so I will need somethng fairly efficient. I can't find any specs. on these EPOS speakers Thanks

I have a pair of LaScalas, (104db) and KP301, (101db) and I continue to drive them both with either a pair of mid fiftys Ampex 620 Monos that have been conppletely gone through with new caps, etc. They were rated at 12watts each and show to clip at about 10watts on a scope. They will blow out the windows of my house at about half volume on a McIntosh C11 tube pre. Of course the Dynaco ST70 I have is WAY overkill with even the hardest of AC/DC! Regards,

On a somewhat serious note, this is the kind of thing that drives a lot of people away from the so called "High End" audio gear. A typical guy gets to s a point in his, (or her) life and wants to buy the really nice HiFi system they have aways wanted but didn't have the money for, or the knowledge, to go out and buy. Then they investigate by going to a local HiFi shop that sells this VooDoo stuff and they're driven away. On one hand it's funny and on the other it's really a shame. Regards,

No doubt Craig is s good guy. It's great in this day of questionable vendors and outright ripoffs to run accross a guy who does what he says in the time frame he says he'll do it. Very refreshing. I have a Scott tuner I bought from him and it was delivered just as he said it would be and in the outstanding condition he told me it would be in. I've yet to hook into my system my McIntosh C11 Pre amp he went through, but I'm sure it's right on the money. I agree in that you have a fantastic record collection. I have a pair of Ampex 620 monoblock amplifiers. They have both been redone with all new caps and a new valves. They were rated from the factory, (sometime about 1958 as far as I can tell) at 12 watts each. Paired with my "New" McIntoch C11 that Craig has completely gone through for their forty four years service, they sound wonderful with my LaScalas and a Sunfire true sub. I love the set up, Regards,

Keith "Probably second to Pete in The Who." Pete Townshend was my first favorite gutar player and I still love him, not only was Keith "Probably second to Pete in The Who," but he was probably THIRD to Pete and Roger in The Who. (In my opinion) But we're talking about a list of the greatest rock drummers and not only should Keith Moon be VERY near the top as I've already mentioned, but in some people's book he should be number two! Opinions are like,...well everyone has one. (and you did ask) Way too many VERY good drummers to list but I agree that John Bonham should be at the top, no doubt in my mind. But to me VERY near the top should be Keith Moon. And although I love what The Beatles did, Ringo isn't anything to write home about. Alex Van Halen is no slouch either. Regards,
