  1. Contact your local department of public health and describe your situation. Could be a contaminated system or process. That degree of consistent emesis in 2 individuals smacks of acute food poisoning.
  2. Moderator is so old hat. Let's change it to 'Conviviality Emissary'.
  3. I once ran RS-7's, they were sold long ago. I just installed a pair of RF-42 II's in a new configuration. Really not simple to compare the 2 w/o having them both side by side. Plus the rooms are entirely different. That said....... I do like these RF-42's. They are set rear as opposed to side and the audio is well distributed in a sizable bedroom (5.1). For the $$ the RF's were a no brainer.
  4. My Magnavox 5.1 has no HDMI either. But the television does. I run HDMI direct to the teevee, optical from the teevee to the AV and COAX from the BRD to the AV. The COAX works fine for the audio signal for disc play. The optical from the teevee transmits 5.1 signal from cable, etc..........
  5. Well it wasn't '10 years after'......................
  6. Here's one I heard the other day................ http://www.chonday.com/Videos/kidguitskilohe3
  7. Great Gramps told me when I was 8...... "Getting into trouble is like stepping in dog crap. Whether it is a little or a lot you smell just as bad."
  8. Share the wisdom(s)......... "When the only tool you know how to use is a hammer............ every problem looks like a nail."
  9. Guilty as charged. I am gleefully naive about the nuanced trappings of Hollywoods sundry definitions and accomplishments. IMHO most of what Hollywood has churned out has been rather lackluster. A or B or whatever.
  10. The Beast with 5 Fingers..... Invaders from Mars.......... The Angry Red Planet........ The Thing (original)... Them!........
  11. The Crawling Eye......... Gorgo............ Tremors............ Off te top of my head.
  12. Well no. Even the author above admits that they're unsure exactly why people see the colors differently. I know that I have a very peculiar eye problem and my own color perception here can vary from minute to minute. So there is a physiologic basis to the phenomenon......... or in my case a pathologic origin to my disorientations. The meaning is that our sight operates on a contextual basis, not a recording basis. Same with our hearing. We record nothing of what we hear, but we interpret parts of what we hear, and form perceptions about it. If the perceived colors change then it is more likely altering at the input signal........ at the sensory level of the cones or the rods. That is my affliction as I have one eye that mis-focuses outside of the macula lutea. It is an extrinsic fixation. So this proves (to me) that it is not any matter of brain based contextual interpretation but one of signal at the source - the eyeball.

  14. Does this alternate in color schemes for anyone else? I do suffer from a fairly unique visual problem but had no idea it would do things likes this.
  15. Back to blue and black...............
  16. Crap! Back to gold and white.............. check back later.
  17. A friend of the family was a stunt coordinator for the movie industry. His name was Paul Stader. He was in a few movies and teevee programs but mostly coordinated stunts and was pretty successful. One night eons ago I came across a horrible 'B' grade scifi flick that Paul had a bit part in - so I watched it. Another bit part actor was Leonard Nimoy. Leonard played an outer space Zombie name Narab in the 1952 extravaganza "ZOMBIES OF THE STRATOSPHERE". Hilarious stuff. Love some of those old time flicks. Leonard did in deed live long and prosper. Another good soul passes.
  18. Nope....... blue and black it remains.
  19. Honestly when 1st I looked at the dress on this thread was white and gold......... now it is blue and black. Gonna leave and come back for a 3rd look.
  20. Is there like a prize if we get it correct?
  21. As I have experienced........ if you live in an area where line power normally fluctuates you will likely notice a real difference in how your system plays with a power conditioner. It is not uncommon for line power fluctuate. You can plug some high draw motors into your own house circuit and the lights will dim. Rolling brown outs are policy in some areas of the country. These units are essentially transformers that power up and hold electricity and release it in a controlled manner. If you've ever watched how a capacitor works it does the same thing on a much smaller scale. Power conditioners use toroidal transformers. That is why they're so damned heavy. Lots of metal.
  22. As I understand this subject power conditioners merely see to it that any fluctuation in line current is negated....... that your equipment will be receiving a consistent power supply regardless of what is occurring on the grid. If your entire rig requires a total of 'X' number of amps you will need a power conditioner able to supply that level of consistent power. Having lived where power surges and brown outs occurred I have used conditioners and they do work. That said....... you will find that power conditioners are sometimes built in to higher end devices. My Accuphase integrated has its own power conditioner built in to the unit. And no device should ever draw more amperage than you demand of it to produce a volume of sound. You can give them access to 400 amps but they will only draw current according to how loud you have set them to operate. If your speakers demand high wattage you will need amplifiers able to deliver that power cleanly across all frequencies. If your speakers do not require tons of power then giving them more is just not a good idea.
  23. Got to ride in a 50's era Roll Royce that'd been restored. They're named 'Silver Cloud' for good reason. There are modern cars that are very noisy and uncomfortable too. I'd agree they are all safer and more efficient. But still you get what you pay for when it comes to creature features.
  24. Um......... if you adjust the feet levels on them the doors will pretty much close by themselves. Y'know lower on the rear and opposite the hinged side of the door. And I think modern vehicles are designed to fail. They are better engineered in that the timing of the failure occurs 5 days after the warranty ends and that's good engineering.
  25. Thanks. I am going to check that one out. Just last night I listened to David Stockman (budget director under Reagan). Smart guy and always a good listen. Anyway, he pointed out something very important. When economies are about to implode, international agreements are designed and implemented ahead of the implosion to "head off" a full collapse, and sort out winners from losers, and reset the system. For example, Bretton Woods in the post WWII era, and then the 1972 Nixon Shock which abandoned Bretton Woods, and now - according to Stockman - another new international monetary system will be invented ahead of this big debt crash. Ok, it makes perfect sense to me, but, that idea competes with 10 others from equally qualified experts! In my estimation, I tend to favor the "least dramatic" outcome. Many people forcast these awful total collapses and chaos, but IMO, the world financiers has become much more clever, and will seek to engineer a soft landing that will look better than total collapse. The big three economies are probably designing this solution as we speak. They know it's coming. How can they not? Whatever the new system will be, it will have to wipe out a lot of debt. So, you can imagine how hard the debt holders negotiate so that it is not THEIR debt which gets scraped. This is what you are seeing now with Germany v. Greece. The Germans are simply refusing to take any losses. Well, someone has to lose! The Greek people are simply refusing to be slaves for the next 100 years. To show how insignificant politics are, the old conservative Greek government got replaced last month with a leftist government who is now renegotiating the debt. And if they fail, waiting in the wings is a ultra right wing neo-Nazi group who will take over and take their crack at renegotiating! How much does this play into the debt of our country? Did this administration enter into such depths of debt knowing that it might get restructured of otherwise redefined?
