  1. I live in Prescott Valley, so if they don't get claimed, let me know and I'll drive down and take them off of your hands.. :-)
  2. Thanks everyone that made this happen for Tim! It was great being part of it!! And thanks all for the kind comments, I believe they represent the spirit of everyone on this forum!! ***** Timmikid, The bad news is that your system profile is in need of updating...
  3. Cueman wrote: "Wow, those are beauties. Exceptionally clean. How long have you owned them, and what was the adoption fee?" --------------------------------------------------------- Cueman, I'd had custody of them for about 2 months..! The adoption fee wasn't that much, but the visitation back & forth to the Netherlands is going to kill me...
  4. Make sure you save his email stating he wouldn't honor the auction....!
  5. Just got these pictures from Terry DeWick. They are a pair of my 'babies' that I offered up for 'adoption'. They are going to a good home and I've been given visitation rights as part of the adoption agreement.... I miss them already!
  6. Timmikid, Send me your address and I'll send you a matched quad of NOS RCA 6L6GC black plates to try. Your 30s have a set of the Winged =C= tubes in them, so you can compare them to the RCAs.

  8. Though I don't have the 'listening' background that some of you have, I will try the Valve Arts in my MC30s to see how they sound to me and will report, as best I can, on what I hear. The tubes I am using now are GENELEX KT66 Gold Lions.
  9. Allan, email me your address and I'll send you the set I just received. I would be interested in your evaluation of them in a pair of MC30s..
  10. Sorry for the late reply, but just noticed the thread. Terry, I confess.. it was me! Couldn't pass them up. They are in nice shape, but I've just looked them over cosmetically, haven't run any tests on them yet. I've been working on another pair I picked up a month or so ago.
  11. Craig, I have a signal generator and o'scope. The distortion analyzer won't be here for another few days. One of the 5881s went 'cherry' on me after about 3 hours, so I will be ordering more today. Is that a product of the tube going bad or is it a circuit problem that I would need to address before putting new tubes in..? thanks for you help..
  12. Picked up the M80s this afternoon and after cleaning 3 years of dust out of and off of them, I ran them up slowly on a variac, set the bias (had to change out 2 bad 5881 tubes) and plugged them in to my system. They have been running about 2 hours now and are starting to warm-up. They were initially a bit sharp and not very open sounding. I think I'm going to like them... :-) Craig, do you have any info on adjusting the AC balance and bias of the 12AT7 tubes..?
  13. I would also vouch for Terry's work! He has repaired and tuned up a couple of vintage McIntoshs for me and they work & sound great!! He is a very nice guy and is willing to chat with you about any gear problem you may be having. Joe
  14. The only tube amps I've heard, so far, are the vintage McIntoshs! I will be picking up a pair of these VTLs tomorrow and was wondering if anyone on the forum has had any experience with them? Thanks, Joe
  15. Dean, just checking to see how the 'book-case & nik-nak shelving mod' is coming along on those empty khorn enclosures..?
  16. Dean is keeping the khorns, but sold the AK-4s out of them..! I will be installing them in my '88 khorns this evening...
  17. ------------- "No, I didn't see anything that looked to be used for scrap parts" ------------- Thanks for checking Gilbert. Welcome to the forum Terry! I've also sent a few things your way! BTW, is that my MC30 on the bench or is it already heading this way..?
  18. Gilbert, did you notice any McIntosh amp repair parts or parted out amps? I have a couple of MC30s and an MC240 I'm working at rebuilding.
  19. Dean: I don't have room for the khorns, but I could use the AK-4 upgrade for my '88 khorns (to replace the AK-2). Please put me down for those if it comes to that. Thanks,
  20. I am in the process of setting up a test bench that will be used to test/repair vacuum tube amplifiers that I DIY, or purchase, and for repairing/building speaker networks. What brands/models are you using?
  21. The broken english sounds very similar in this ebay auction currently going on: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5744844160&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
