  1. ok synthfreek. i took your suggestion and found 2 new copies one copy of each album they have out from 1978 and 1979 1978 self titled, and 1979 morning comes (which is supposed to have the dance around the campfire song on it good prices under 10.00 for both new sealed albums took the plunge will see if the seller is a straight up guy hard to beleive he had both in new sealed condition being that old at least wont be dropping a fortune on them thanks alot for the info. I have to ask how you had or found the name do you have the album? if so how is it overall larry my memory is getting shorter but that song has some good memories for me i can recall my dad and i getting the tape from a old friend of his, and we listened to it had to be around 1980 or there abouts and it was one of those few songs a kid would listen to that there parent would enjoy as well, i tried to get the name of the band back then but the name and info on the tape had worn off almost completely. to this day the only place i heard that song was with my dad in the motor home, never heard it on the radio. to cool that someone on this forum had the info and made it possiable for me to find the song (albums) again. after they arrive i will make sure it is the correct song and then call up pops and freak him out with the song (he already thinks im nuts having near 3000 albums and im 40 years old soon to be 41 (march) thanks so much for the input Joe
  2. i heard a song when i was near 16 years old and i can remember the words (some at least) but i never knew the artist or the album it was on. it was an old cassette the writing had worn off, anyone know a good site to look this up like that (using a partial verse etc...), maybe someone here will know it below is part of the lyrics "ive been down on a road i dont wanna see no more just look into my eyes and you can see im looking for a friend to take me in and close the door" i am not sure it is worded exactly like this, i do know the first 2 lines are in correct order, and i know the last 3 lines are in order just not sure they followed each other as i have written. can anyone help????????? Joe and i know this is 2 channell i tried general? was hoping to get more views here.

  7. i forgot to mention a pocket book (purse) for every day of the week and of course a special one for this or that outfit. and lets not forget 3 closets full of clothes that one day may fit me again when i decide to lose weight!!!!!!! of course those cars setting around running or not still have value, and everyone on this forum knows klipsch speakers hold value, i havent seen many purses or old clothes sale for much. Im just glad we all have permission to buy more than 1 pair of klipsch now as long as we dont hurt anyone that is !!!!! Joe
  8. here are some layman terms, think of it like this the speaker is not powered in any way untill it is connected to an amp and as it is not powered it would have no need for a fuse, the fuses in speakers are there for one reason to protect the speaker from stray voltage comming from your gear, this is more a convenience to save you lots of cash. if you amp or whatever goes astray and sends voltage down the line it blows the fuse instead of your speaker. been here a few times in the past and it has always been the amp!!!!!! Joe
  9. it's a man thing you are not supposed to get it !!!!!!!!! kinda like a woman that wants a collection of diamond rings. we dont get it. (or any jewelery) you have one ring or necklace isnt that enough??????????? Joe
  10. cant give you a comparison based on sound, i can say be careful of deals from australia i had a couple bad experiences with scams from there. i can also say i have heard the parlorphone, apple sets were best i have one and will say the sound is very good at least as good as some digital remastered albums i have Joe

  12. hello all i have a basis 1400 turntable and am wandering what is good to use for cleaning the clear plexi plinth, i do not want to scratch it or leave swirl marks etc... thanks for the help in advance Joe
  13. i myself have a modest collection of vinyl (3000 albums) and a mid level table with top notch gear surrounding it and k-horns (a pair of the most revealing speakers available) a vpi 16.5 record cleaning machine. and i have performed a few blind listening tests with people (friends and family) when asked which sound they prefer (not knowing what they are listening to, album or cd of the same recording) about 90 percent pick the vinyl for sound go leave a cd setting in an attic for 20 years exposed to the high heat in calli. and see if you can repair the warp it gets my money says no!!!!!! yea vinyl sucks. who would want to buy an item that simply sounds better, lasts longer, and may actually gain in value. guess i should list my collection tomarrow for sale and go buy some more shiney discs NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. HEY ALLAN THANKS FOR THE POST PRETTY INFORMATIVE, YET ANOTHER REASON LP'S ARE GREAT THEY CAN BE REPAIRED AND IT SOUNDS PRETTY EASY JOE
  15. exactly how many albums do you oun and listen to on a regular basis??????? are you even old enough to know what decent vinyl is or sounds like or just chimeing in with the crowd??? exactly what type of equipment have you used to play an album, if you ever have that is??? i myself have a modest collection of vinyl (3000 albums) and a mid level table with top notch gear surrounding it and k-horns (a pair of the most revealing speakers available) a vpi 16.5 record cleaning machine. and i have performed a few blind listening tests with people (friends and family) when asked which sound they prefer (not knowing what they are listening to, album or cd of the same recording) about 90 percent pick the vinyl for sound go leave a cd setting in an attic for 20 years exposed to the high heat in calli. and see if you can repair the warp it gets my money says no!!!!!! yea vinyl sucks. who would want to buy an item that simply sounds better, lasts longer, and may actually gain in value. guess i should list my collection tomarrow for sale and go buy some more shiney discs NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. there is no set figure for the going rate for k-horns there is a range depending on condition , i watched these very closely over the last year or so and IMO they range from 1300.00 to 2200.00, 1500 would be a fair price for a pair needing a reasonable amount of restoration, i assume this will be your first pair of k-horns. its a shame you may have to bid against another forum member best of luck Joe
  17. the belles consistantly sell quite a bit higher than la-scala after a couple years folling the speakers i have found that belle generally brings 400.00 to 600.00 more than la-scala. i had both here in my listening room within the last year and in my opinion and everyone else that heard them the belle sounded better hands down, better bass, better imageing, and they didnt seem as bright with certain types music, lastly they are much better looking. Alas i sold both to end up with the mighty K-Horns (they of course sound better than either) Joe
  18. ctp, i have went thru almost every heritage speaker available over the last 2 years started with corns, bought heresys and 2's, lascalas, belles and now K-horns, and all have been in a room close to the size of your room and though they may open up more in a larger room you cannot know what you may be missing untill you have heard it my speaker suggestion to you would be to try la-scalas, even though everyone complains of low bass etc etc etc......... they are wrong (IMHO, dont bash me for disagreeing with you, this is to the masses) i found in my room they had more bass and more defined bass than cornwalls and a much larger sound for the money. if you are intent on looking at other brands i would suggest a used pair of vandersteen 2 ci, they sell used around 500. and will resale for that when you move back to horns before buying klipsch i had infinity, vandersteens, blose, pioneer, shearwoods and all fade in comparisons good luck with the hunt Joe
  19. if im not mistaken the fisher you saw on nos valves site belongs to a member here and it was rebuilt or refurbished by craig the only reason he was selling was new vrd's email craig for the details he is usually pretty fast getting back with you Joe
  20. when he buys that island i will expect an invitation!!!!!!, , craig when will you be updating your web site to show the testimoanials for the vrd's i would like to see what other buyers have had to say gary are you selling the mark 3's to help pay for the vrd,s in cherry??????? well off to bed again after a long night of work, have to do 17 straight tonight so the weary commuters can ride the trains and flush the crappers. Joe
  21. ok duke, i see what you meant, i wasnt especially happy with the pre either as it seemed to always have a problem or 2 but i will say i was happy with the sound till i heard garys system that is, guess i could say gary cost me a ton of money!!!!!!!! but it was worth it Joe
  22. back from a long night at work. Thanks for the qudoes gary your system isnt to shabby either and i see you went ahead and sprung for the vrd's good deal. whatcha doing with the mark 3's, i agree craig that you tend to lose the idea of how good your system is as you get more and more use to the sound. and it is nice to get that confirmation from someone else occasionally. my next move is to try to find a nice low output cartridge and see if that improves my vinyl experience, i just hate to buy one at the near 1000.00 mark to find out it doesnt match up with my arm or table, i dont have excess income so every purchase is bought with keeping it in mind, when it dont work out it hurts. duke i know the phase linear is not audiophile reccomended and all but it sounded damb fine with the corns and the phase linear amps and also was very nice for eye appeal, o whats your point??????
  23. my pop thought he had heard the best you could possiably hear in stereo, last time he was by my house i was running 2 phase linear amps with a phase linear pre and an onkyo cdp, with cornwalls and heresys. I played some of his favorites willie nelson etc... and he was all smiles, i have been telling him i could now beat that sound with the vrd's, blueberry, jolida jd100, and the MIGHTY K-HORNS, he is now a beleiver. with an even bigger grin on his face than the first time. he sat there saying it sounds like the music is coming straight out of the wall. pointing in front of himself, i love it when you get that response from someone. love those horns with tubes. Joe
  24. just because the manual says it only requires 150 watts to drive them doesnt mean that will do a good job, you need tons of headroom to run these speakers properly. i had 2 differant pair of infinity speakers that said they were 8 ohm's, and could run on 35 to 150 wpc amps, however my 200 wpc phase linear, nor my onkyo m504 165 wpc, could drive either pair without clipping because the speakers routinely dropped below 2 ohms, just as all ribbon speakers do (that i have heard of or seen personally) joe
  25. hello the maggies you are describeing are one of there top end pairs although the name escapes me right now, i recall the description from previous times looking into those speakers. as i recall they were also quite expensive to buy, 3 panels per side for a total of 6 panels. They require great amounts of space to use more so than K-horns, and they are extremely power hungry 2 reasons i decided against them. lastly as dean said they are hard to repair and costly to pack up and ship back to the manufacturer for repair. so i would say if your friend got them cheap or free, and has no need for them he should consider tradeing as he would have a nice set of speaks when all is done instead of a broken set that would be costly to repair, and ship out for repair and in the end would have to have an enormous room and a monster power amp to run them Joe
