  1. i have to disagree with johnnyholiday, the woofers are probably not trash because of a dust cover, i would agree with michael !!!!!, i have had great success buying from ebay with many plug and play items for example my k-horns were from ebay and they are in what i would call a 9.8 on a scale of 1 thru 10, also my nakamichi rx 505 is a 9.9, my marantz model 2500 is a 9.5, my teak X1000R is a 9.0, all of which were plug and play and this is just a few items to make the point, and i bought all this gear at great prices couldnt have found it around here thats for sure just check there feedback, and trust your instincts Joe
  2. this seller group is popping up all over america i bought my K-Horns from the "i sold it" in Va. and they described them accurately, as a matter of fact i found them better than described, the store is a reputable outfitin case anyone is wondering Joe also they usually have a store not run out of someones house the only thing that was a bit of a hasle they dont take cash had to pay with credit card Joe
  3. i went up from the standard blueberry. joe
  4. just a few lines to update my deal with mark, he went out of his way to make sure his customer is happy completely. That is a rare thing today with any business so i wanted to say thanks mark in public! I appreciate being able to deal with a company/individual that stands behind there product in every way. Even when it comes to price and perceived fairness. I am one person happy to say i am glad you and craig are on this forum and that you produce the products you sell. In a time where people have forgotten about customer service, and what that means you are an example of how all businesses would do well to follow. now for the x-treme there is a definate differance in the bass output, music i really didnt care to listen to b-4 on my system, has better sound now(heavy metal, alternative) the bass is an essential part of this style music and when it seemed lacking b-4 made the music fatigueing (IMHO) i havent listened long enough to make a overall assesment but from the first couple hours things look good. if nothing else it has already opened my system up to more styles of music. more to follow after further listening Joe
  5. hello craig i shot you an email, sorry i was remiss and hadnt sent you anything earlier, as im sure word of mouth is you best advertiseing. i cant say enough about how you went out of your way to help with my purchase, even buying up some old gear thanks alot Joe
  6. i wouldnt mind giving them a try either, sounds like a good test. will you be includind priceing info with them joe
  7. hello i see you bought those in alexandria, ive been itching to hear those speakers, maybe we could do a listening swap i have the k-horns and ran by vrd's with a blueberry x-treme. Just in case you have been wanting to hear the k-horns or tubes let me know. nice score by the way on the rf-7's Joe
  8. saw my friend again today and inquired further about the wharfedales, he confirmed the model# as the 90W, said each speaker had something like 12 drivers in it, i am going to give them a look but doubt very seriously i will buy them, unless they are just so cheap i cant refuse, or if the drivers are worth more than the price. thanks for all the feedback Joe
  9. a friend is cleaning out his basement and has a pair of wharfdale model 90 floor speakers was wandering if anyone would know if these are decent speakers, and an approx value, they are in good shape a few scratches, about 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide (guesstimates) he says they work fine any help appreciated Joe
  10. for the last 7 years i was a self employed contractor, made enough to pay the bills but couldnt seem to get ahead, no one wants to work and no one wanted to pay for the work they received. i recently took a job with amtrak as a union pipefitter, (i work on all the plumbing, hydraulic, and air lines on the high speed trainsets). been there 5 months now and it is a decent job that pays pretty well and i finally have benefits. hope to do 20 there and that will put me at 60 years old and ready to retire. Joe
  11. dont we all just love it when someone has nothing better to say or do than point out a spelling error. As though they are perfect people above reproach, with an attitude that they are somehow better because they can spell. I beleive everyone on this thread knows the originator was speaking about klipsch, leave it to you Frzninvt to point out the trivial mistake with your "IM BETTER THAN YOU ATTITUDE" god knows you never make a mistake because lets face it you are perfect in your oun mind. Joe
  12. bike has a stereo on it but that is coming off, no cup holders or cigarette lighters will be aboard either HA HA !!!!!!!!!thinking about replaceing the front end with a fat boy style with passing lights and a windshield (a much meaner look IMHO) Joe
  13. hey kev. i was against the larger bikes as well at first, however i was having a breathing problem that forced me to consider never riding again, so i sold the sporty (very reluctantly) after selling the sporty i was able to go wild with upgrading the stereo. now that i have finished upgrading that i had a neighbor come bragging on a sweet deal he made on an old triumph, so i got the bug for a bike again, i happened on a fella selling the tour glide and i got a sweet price on the thing, i test rode it and that windshield made a huge differance in breathing while on the bike and after i got off, not sure how much riding i will be able to get in , with my new job but at the price i couldnt say no. i looked at it as a savings acount deal i wont lose any money and may make a few bucks after a ton of cleaning. Joe
  14. that boss hoss is a mighty machine way more than i would want to contend with, i sold the sportster last year thinking i was getting away from riding, i bought a 1985 flhtc (tour glide ultra) last week i was amazed at the comfort of ride compared to the sporty but the weight is what is a huge supprise almost dropped the thing in the yard. the windshield is a god send, couldnt beleive the amount of wind it actually deflects. nice to know im thought of in good ways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i guess i should change my name on here and other places to joesglide whatcha think????????? Joe
  15. bought the set off ebay for 199.00 from seller (bookphair) good, reasonable shipping Joe
  16. MAYBE HES NOT ANAL RETENTIVE ABOUT SMALL STUFF LIKE SPELLING, maybe he was just sharing some insight into the quality of a box set of albums incase anyone on here was actually looking for AUDIO ADVICE, OR OPINIONS. i quit worrying about spelling when i left grade school, i guess some people have nothing better in there lives than to critisize others over meaningless dribble, heres a hint find a hobby or something to fill your life that you enjoy and you will have less time to act like an a$$. Joe
  17. I was having one of those days today, in class for 8 hours listening to a teacher that knew less than the supposed students, ( i hate days like this, seem to drag forever ), i get home and find a package on top of the speaker, AAAHHHHHHHHH !!!!! finally here my new box set of 180 gram remastered from original masters AC / DC 13 album box set, and may i say they sound sweet on the k-horns nothing like some ac/dc to soothe the savage beast. only 7 more weeks of school to go, maybe my parlorphone blue box beatles set will show up and save my mind for a few days when the ac/dc fails anyone that is into classic rock and runs across the chance to get the ac/dc set i would definately vouge for the quality this is a very nice set. Joe
  18. gary are you trying to sneak in a pair of vrd's, how will you ever get that basement finished and and get your bulky belle out of r-places house if you keep spending you remodel money?????? Joe
  19. i used to have the phase linear model 400 amps hooked up to 2 pair of corns/ and i also used a pair of the amps with corns and heresys(heresy perched atop the corns), they sounded great and i was very happy with the sound and of course i thought the 200 wpc was killer also (that is untill i heard gary,s 17 watt scott 299 tube integrated) that is another story, the phase linears had what i considered good sound reproduction and very good bass, the highs were very nice on the corns and heresys when using both pair togeather as mentioned previously, however when using just the heresy's the sound was very bright. something about the mix of the heresy and cornwalls made the sound much better and not nearly as bright Joe
  20. great idea fini i would have to suggest any charity except the red cross though, too many crooks in that org. when the towers fell tons of $$$$$$$ was donated for those people but the red cross took the money aand added it to there accounts instead of send it to the people it was intended for although they have made changes to there system that allows you to designate where you want your donation to go i would bet they still take a large chunk for themselves, have to pay all those high dollar executives>< Joe
  21. well michael it is a tantric way to control ones body functions to the point of !!!!!!!!!!!!! actually it is a lomc cartridge thanks anyway Joe
  22. looking at a lomc cart, anyone have any experience with transfiguration spirit 3, see there is one for sale on a-gon wandering if it is worth the 795.00 the seller is asking thanks Joe
  23. i have a set with the al crossovers the cabinets are not the prettiest in the world but the work very nicely and i have veneer for them if you wanted to clean up the boxees in the future, price would be 750.00 for the pair with veneer included Joe
  24. i appreciate the wisdom, i will admit it is hard for me to pick up subtle differances in sound my ears want to hear the overall not just this or that which may sound a little better, however i do want to acheieve the best sound possiable within reason and affordability, that is why i put the spending limit on here and i am also not opposed to used cartridges so long as they are in good shape i always see high dollar carts around the 1200 range like the benz ruby, etc... these are actually the carts i am wandering about. too bad we cant find someone willing to let us try before we buy on these type items LOL Joe
