  1. so, who's gonna step it up and offer to send k-horns around the country?
  2. that would be quite a large and valuable board. don't his extreme slope networks go for around a grand? i don't think i'd trust the likes of ups and fedex shipping that thing around multiple times...
  3. dean, i'm definitely interested in the trial. sent you an e-mail. thanks.
  4. I definitely plan on upgrading my crossovers in the near future, but i'd like to experiment a bit to get an idea of how bad my networks really are. I realize my caps are probably all off spec, but seeing as how the general concensus is the type al's are quite possibly the worst networks ever, i don't see how "tampering" with them a bit could hurt. i did some searching and didn't come up with much info. i saw a few posters alluding to the idea that it is indeed possible (perhaps values will be slightly off) to convert AL to A without any further purchases. anyone have more info on this? thank you.
  5. i've still got stock ALs in my scalas
  6. perhaps if they integrated some kind of "theme" system so people can choose between the new and old style? i'm sure the old was programmed completely different, but it can't be TOO hard to make the new one look like it somewhat.
  7. nothing wrong with using your pc as a source. i use my pc as a source for my la scalas, and i won't be going analog any time soon. that's last on my list. i still need to get a tube preamp (probably merlin... cheapest worthwhile one i can find), crossovers redone, finish room treatments, and finally an external dac.
  8. well that's odd.. every post was light gray, and now they've turned copper after a simple refresh. oh well
  9. looks clean and professional, but i'm having a very hard time reading the light gray font color on the white background

I have four of them in a 16' x 14' room along with a La Scala, 2 Cornwalls and two 15" Subwoofers, trust me when I tell you it sounds bad-***! Don't believe me come give it a listen. ---------------- pics of this room? you make my 11x11 la scala room sound gigantic.

No definite advantage was evident, even with my good amp and speakers. I am glad, I know some people have reripped their cd collection at 160 MP3 when the price of large capacity hard disks came down. I have a lot of music, I really don't want to rip it all again! ---------------- I don't think the audigy2 is that bad of a sound card to warrant it unreasonable for khorns, ---------------- assuming he's using the zs, and he uses foobar's software resampler along with kernel streaming or asio, then yea, it should be decent. otherwise i've read time after time that the audigy series does some really TERRIBLE hardware resampling of everything below 48khz

Maybe I'll build a cheaper alternative while I'm down at uiuc...they got all sorts of toys down there. ---------------- there's actually a foobar digital crossover plugin. it goes up to 400db/oct slope and supports up to 4 way speakers. i used to use it for my sub instead of buying that outlaw bass thing. now i just turned off the sub completely.
  15. i build risers as well. 6 inches and 3/4". well worth it.

  17. i understood him perfectly fine. no need to be a jerk. congrats on finding a setup you're content with. should be in for a treat when dean's crossovers arrive. they seem to be quite the "upgrade" !
