  1. Bob, The picture looks like a clinch-type plastic fastener. Is this what you're looking for?: http://www.boltproducts.com/tinnerman/plastic-clinch-type.html
  2. Picture is lifted right off of Al's website: http://s114186177.onlinehome.us/
  3. I cast my vote for *cough, Klipsch, cough"!! Will I receive a coupon for half-price on the RT-12d?? I think that's how they do it in Chicago . . .,
  4. Hi Dave, You don't specify which Forte's you have. The best rear speakers will be more Forte's of the same type (either I or II). The Forte I has an exponential mid horn with a K-53 driver. The Heresy II has an exponential mid horn with a K-53 driver. The Forte II has a tractix horn with a K-61 mid driver. The Quartet has a tractix with a K-61 mid driver.

  6. Bruce, May the Grace of Jesus, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit abide with you and your family until the day you are united with Barbara in Glory. Our prayers will be with you . . . Bill
  7. God bless you, Michael. You will be in our prayers . . .
  8. I just bought the Denon 1706 for my son from Ultimate Electronics for $335, brand new 'A' stock. It includes the microphone for auto set-up and sounds great with his Chorus/Forte/C7 system.
  9. Welcome, Mike. The answer to your question depends on which, among your current speakers, you wish to match. The "matched" center channel for your KLF-10's is a KLF-C7. No surrounds were specifically designed for the 10's. The "matched" fronts for your RC-3 and RS-3 would be either the RB-3 (or5), or RF-3. The in-wall speakers that match the RC-3/RS-3 would be the RCW-5 and the in-ceiling match would be the RCR-5.
  10. Great job, cyclonecj! How well do you think the KPT-250's would match with K-Horn's, LaScala's, or Cornwall's in a home theater application? How much are the KPT-250's?
  11. Meagain, every other speaker will detract from the K-Horn. The BEST ht will be K-Horns in all 4 corners with a Belle or LaScala for center. I currently have Cornwalls in the rear and center and that's pretty darned good. There is a gorgeous pair of Belle's in Kansas City that I wish someone would buy so I won't succumb to the temptation of driving 154 miles and loadin' 'em up.
  12. Hi marems, What is the wood and finish? Where is it located?
  13. A beautiful set of Oiled Walnut Belles are listed on the following Audiogon link in Kansas City. $1800 obo. I'm soooo tempted, but $1800 seems a bit strong and I have too derned many speakers now. Michael, how 'bout you? You need some Belles don't you. Or Gilbert?? KC isn't too far from Oklahoma. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1140324692
  14. What a great son (or daughter)!! Quartets are great speakers. You should be able to find a really nice pair for around $400. No Quartets are currently listed on ebay or craiglist. I did find a pair of Forte II listed on craiglist. The listing is from November 7th, so the speakers may be sold, but they are in Dallas. Check the following link: http://dallas.craigslist.org/ele/109637944.html Happy hunting and good luck . . .
  15. Michael, I think I caught this from you! I'm certain this is your fault . . . Thanks, jc! Now I'm beginning to understand.
  16. Try inverting the speaker on top, so the tweeters are together. You may find this improves the sound. That's what we used to do way-back-when with "double-stacks".
  17. Here's what I'm going to do: http://www.bigscreenforums.com/forum_topic.cfm?which=2053&p=1#9455
  18. COL is Cornwall, Oak, Lacquer
  19. Rick, I have one pair that has K-55's with 'B' crossovers and two pair of 1983 models with K-52's with B-3 crossovers.
  20. Michael, My K52's are threaded and screw in and are directly interchangeable with the K-55. In my searches, I haven't found any listing of advantages/disadvantages or differences in acoustical properties.
  21. I am trying to decide which among the Denon AVR receivers will be the best choice for an All-Cornwall HT. Because of the low power requirements, I have focused on the 1706. I don't need many inputs, nor do I listen very loud due to tinnitus. Is there any great improvement in sound quality by moving to the larger receivers? Thanks
  22. What are the differences between the K52 and the K55V/M. My Corns are mixed between the two and I think I'd like to have them all the same if there are differences in acoustical properties.
  23. I have now, per Dean's instructions, installed a 6.8uF cap and a K-55V driver for the Cornscala. Now it sounds better ( more open, more transparent ) than the KHorns with the AK-2 crossover. Looks like it's time for some crossover work for the K's. A couple of new questions come to mind, even after searching and reading all the crossover threads on both new and old forums. Like Michael Colter, I am really appreciating the opportunity to learn and the willingness of the great crossover masters to share with us grasshoppers. Question 1: The type A crossover and type B crossover differ only in the 4uF / 13uF caps and the taps on the T-2. The Cornscala is using the same drivers and horns as the KHorn. Why is the 4uF cap on the B for the Cornscala changed to 6.8uF instead of 13uF like the A? Question 2: My K's have K55M squawker drivers and AK-2's. Should I change to K55V drivers and some version of the A (AA, Super AA, Super Deluxe AA, Modified Pinnacle AA, etc., etc.) crossover or upgrade to AK-3's? Thank You!!
  24. Congrats on your new purchase! From your description of the cabinets, I assume they are an oil finish, not lacquer. The serial numbers will have WO on the end for Walnut Oil, or WL for Walnut Lacquer. If they are an oil finish, you can restore the beauty of the natural walnut, including drawing out some of the natural red in the walnut that you are looking for, by applying severals coats of Watco Danish Oil. This was the oil Klipsch recommended to us way back in the 70's for maintaining the finish. You can buy it at Lowes for about $7 per can. Try this before you get too carried away with alterations to the finish. Happy listening . . .
