  1. God I love this place!, After spending this past week knee deep in KPMG auditors telling me that for the past 23 years I have been doing my job all wrong and that two senators called Sabrane and Oxley know how I should be handling IT communications and Network Security and I now have to write a policy to handle every aspect of my job and procedures for everything including wiping my butt and how to handle and dispose of the material used to do the aformentioned process. At this point Tawney and Tickles can come over to my house and do just about anything they would like as long as the bring the beer or wine and a couple good records (vinyl not paper) Tonight I am going home early (6pm) only stopping long enough to purchase a quantity of Killians, and will watch the Star Wars series! and if the neighbors behind me start their weekly Salsa party I will turn my Cornwalls towards their house pull my Joe Satriani "Surfing with the Alien" CD and turn up the volume until the windows blow out! John
  2. not maple, burch raw, and Im still undecided what to do to them, I don't think they were ever even wiped down with oil. I may do the linseed oil. Didn't know that about the tweeter, guess I ought to switch them around and see what difference I hear.
  3. Ah another one saved from the dark side.
  4. Here is my Decorator Cornwall verticals. God I love the sound of these.

For what you spent on the entire engine, you could have built an aluminum small block chevy 383 (or 427 small block if you wanted to spend the extra $) with 500 to 600+ relaible hp. This is a bolt in with adaptors and the aluminum engine weighs about 200 lbs less than an iron sbc. Then when you eventually go insane, bolt on a supercharger. Chris ---------------- Yea thats true, ive got a 350 sbc 4 bolt main "010" block bored .030 over sitting in the garage as well. but can't run SCCA IT or GTII or in stock class using an engine swap. Besides after this engine is tuned and tweeked as Garret T35R turbo will be added as well then it will push close to 600 bhp at wheels and should let me get into the 9's even though the suspension is designed for SCCA track not 1/4 mile runs I had to send the head to Rebello racing in CA, most machine shops that deal with chevy or ford stuff would trash the head
  6. Nosvalve, Yea Its itching alright, right in the wallet. I do want a set of moondogs and will get them, BUT right now I've got to finish up my car for road and track. I've spent 10 times the amount i've spent on my sound system and have only 6 months left till track time. Datsun 1983 280zx, stock L28ET (straight 6) engine, bored .040 to 3.0L, Forged pistons, forged Rods, and Forged stroker crank. Vintage Jim Cook Racing supercharger. vintage Rikin 15x7 wheels, R200 limited slip rear. Megasquirt custom fuel injecton ECU. I've sunk almost 3k in PnP head work alone. When finished it should be putting close to 400bhp to wheels and do low 12s in the 1/4
  7. GGRRRR, I hate this, Dang! Im already commited to buying a 13" slotted wildwood front and rear brake system and 12" adjustable coilovers front and rear for my 83 Datsun ZX.

  15. hehe, how about 99 red balloons (germain version), Or some retro late 70's early 80's punk rock, say Missing Persons, and keeping with the early 80's say some Cindy Lauper, That ought to get the twins up and bouncing around! Then switch over to some Slow Dancing and Swaying to the Music! That should get them all worked up.
  16. I had a second pair that was in a spare bedroom, 12x12? you could hear the difference between that room and my other cornwalls in the main room.
  17. Well, I actually like the setup, It could perhaps be redone to use less space and a cable channel could be added quite easily but I like it. Very unique! Most of the glass and metal stands I see lack any aesthetics

The superlatives that owners of Cornwalls use to describe the speakers are all deserved. These speakers reproduce all of the detail of the music and uncrowd the individual instruments and voices. Music that did not get good recording and mastering attention is still good through these speakers(I listen to many field recordings), but better mastered recordings(hdcd and sacd) simply sound wonderful. I felt that I neeeded to make this post, not for owners of these speakers because they already know these speakers, but for those who are lurking and wondering if thse old speakers are worth a listen. If you have the room for them, Cornwalls are a great bargain. Pete ---------------- Glad your happy with them and that they're in a home that will appreciate their quality! I really hated to see them go but finances just suck right now. John
  19. Piranha, Not any rain to speak of so far, It did thunder a bit early afternoon, some wind and slight sprinkle of rain, didn't even get the concrete wet. As of 5pm were high and dry.. Now tomorrow will be a different story. John

Weird for my area. ---------------- Yea thats the type of rain that you get when the bands start rolling in from the storm. Orlando has not seen any of this yet. Right now its just cloudy and overcast. no rain. If anyone has to evacuate I've got a spare room, bring your favorate CD's and Vinyl. the company I work for still have not decided what they are going to do yet.
  22. OK Guys, Would it be worth my time to bid on these cabinets? Can I get the internals to get them back in working condition? He's only an hour away I might even be able to contact him and end the auction early with the right offer. Thanks for the input.. John

Silver RCA jacks, Silver blade connectors, Then I would head to SkyCraft the local electronics junkyard and pick up some Cat5 cable, Swing by the local liquor store and get a nice bottle of wine, Head home and make my own interconnects and speaker cable while the wine is chilling, then sit back and enjoy the music!
