  5. We've all seen these scam bait emails for years. These guys turned the tables and took "Prince Joe Eboh" for a long ride. It's a riot but a long read. This may have been circulating awhile but it was new to me this week so I'll put it out there. scamming the scammer
  6. Spring time??? Ha! We've had snow and low temps for the last few days. Gets me thinking about Iceland. When I think of Iceland, I also think of Sigur Ros. So, my inspiration this week is the Agaetis Byrjun cd by Sigur Ros. Their music gives me that delicious warm feeling of being in a drunken stupor inside a noisy, dark, and smokey eastern European cafe/club/coffee house. I love the feeling of being helpless and clueless and yet welcome and comfortable in a strange place. Sigur Ros music is a reminder of that feeling.
  7. I just connected my brand new Sonic Impact T-amp to an old pair of KSB 1.1s and I am listening to IranianRadio.com on my computer. All I can say is wow. I want to see what this little plastic toy amp can do with my Fortes.
  8. ---------------- ........My biggest objection is not the snoring, but the crimp they put on sex life. ---------------- I can see how waking up all frisky to the face of a pug could be a mood killer.

  11. Just think how the little speaker hanging from the ceiling must feel.

I think just a couple of days for John Paul I & II. Cardinal Ratzinger was probably already running much the operation anyway as John Paul II's health declined. The following link is an interesting read about the previous conclave that elected John Paul II. 1978 Conclave
  13. Wait a minute. I just had a brainstorm! Forget about the glass altogether and just glue one of these fine fabrics over your speakers. You'd be the envy of the forum. Chicks really dig this stuff > if ya know what I mean.
  14. Can't you just buy black glass to replace the broken one? Is the "hard finish" an original glaze? You might look into something like an arts and crafts glaze. an arts and crafts glaze link Edit: This may not be a permanent glaze and there's probably something better but maybe a product like this could work for you.

ADDED: I wish my mistakes would be worth $18,750. http://www.cashmanscurrency.com/osb/itemdetails.cfm/ID/129 Product Details $3.00 BILL ERROR $2.00/$1.00 $18,750.00 This is 1 of only 4 known Chicago Battleship Double Denomination Errors. We have had the pleasure of handling 3 of them with this being the nicest of the 4 notes. It is a Very Fine note as per condition. It is a Rarity "9" of 9 and extremely Rare! All double denomination errors are Rare and even the most common ones the 1950 Series $5.00 over $10.0 FRNs demand at least $15,000 and much higher. There are over 50 of those notes known. This is the KING of all errors.

  17. Putting this together, if the "fifth face" on Mt. Rushmore is a Native American and recalling the common phrase "queer as a three dollar bill," the only answer would be the "Indian Chief" from the Village People. So when do I get my lunch?
  18. I found this 200 watt (L)amp but it's out of my price range. "Nik Willmore presents The Tube Lamp. Nerdily conceived as a sly spoof of outrageously expensive vacuum tube audio amps, the result was a surprisingly haughty fashion statement and hit product. Standard tubular light bulbs are controlled by a current-limited dimmer circuit that ensures that the bulbs last a long time and wont burn fingers. Chrome controls include a knurled knob appropriated from a Fender Telecaster electric guitar which can light up the room or be dimmed down to create a mysterious mad scientistÕs night light. Specifications: The box is Bakelite, the switch is chrome, the top is a mirror, and the knob has a dome. An internal mechanism aligns each filament straight forward. Max power is 200 watts. Retail $275."
  19. I am so envious of the the gear that people show pictures of around here - high end turntables and tube amps an such. I want that sleek polished look of sophistication and savoir-faire in my livingroom too. I am currently satisfied, soundwise, with my NAD amps but they are pretty bland looking. They have no lighted dials, glowing tubes, oscillating needles, or any of that stuff - just dull gray boxes. I want to upgrade someday, but being fairly superficial, I thought why not just buy some cool looking (but cheap) piece of electronic gear to put in my stereo rack now and pretend it's part of my system. I'm looking for suggestions. I found this thing and I think, if I took the hot dogs off, it would look pretty convincing. Any other ideas??
  20. Yeah, I forgot our Audi has a Bose stereo - just one more reason to avoid buying an Audi.
  21. Just try and stay out of trouble this year.
  22. This thread got me thinking. Packed away somewhere, I have a pair of Bose 301's and a small (a bit bigger than a shoe box) bass module thingy from the early 90's. I went to the Bose web site to find some specs or any information on them. I could not find any information on them at all there - maybe I'm not navigating their site well enough. They only seem to provide info on the current models that they're selling. It's very commendable that the Klipsch web site provides so much information on products that they don't sell anymore. I think that there is more to like here than just the speakers.
