  1. One sure measure of a man is how well he can back up a trailer.
  2. Looks like one should not have high expectations from the feedback rating. Over 13,500 negs!
  3. Coincidence. Just found out my wifes cousin works for KAXE.
  4. I've been listening to this broadcast and I have to say very nice. Thanks for pointing it out. I wish I had my computer connected to my stereo system.
  5. I recommended the Dual 701 a while ago but check out this eBay sale for a Systemdek. I liked the one I tried out and it looked cool in the livingroom. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=48649&item=5766823970&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW The seller said was a Linn by mistake.
  6. Recently, I tried out a few old turntables and the one I liked best was the Dual 701 with Shure v15 III cartridge. It was a $400 TT in the early seventies - you can get them with a cartridge off eBay for $80 to $200 (I bought a spare for future parts needs). It's automatic and direct drive but I can hear no rumble whatsoever. I had and old B&O RX2 and I tried the following TTs (all quite good): Linn, Systemdek (gorgeous TT with a glass platter), Thorens 124, Pioneer, and Technics. I cannot remember the models of the Pioneer or Technics (both 70's vintage). The Dual with the Shure cartridge, while not the sleakest looking was best sounding to me out of this group. Whatever you get, make sure that you can still get good cartridges for it - the better B&O cartridges, for example, are pretty rare.

However, be careful with this new power since large images can bog down on slow internet connections and cause alot of frustration for some people. How to insert an image
  8. I ordered one over the phone a few days ago and they said that they are expecting a shipment around April 25.
  9. Final Gifts From reviews: "Impressive insights into the experience of dying, offered by two hospice nurses with a gift for listening. The ``final gifts' of the title are the comfort and enlightenment offered by the dying to those attending them, and in return, the peace and reassurance offered to the dying by those who hear their needs." "If you've lost a loved one, are dealing with someone who is dying (yourself or someone else), if you avoid visiting friends who are dying or if you're struggling with your own awareness that someday you will die, please read this book. It will put your mind at ease."
  10. Condolences. The loss of a parent transforms the world forever to a different place from it once was. It's something we all share.

This is a Windham Hill release, one of many fine realses from that label. Original half speed mastering was by Stan Ricker at Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs, whatever that means. This is pure solo piano music, very relaxing, sedate and very well recorded. A nice chnge of place and sxcellent for background or (that dreaded word) "easy" listening. Hardly your normal easy listening though. Very pretty, will definetly sooth jangled nerves. ---------------- Good choice. George Winston is from Montana and plays here often - he puts on a nice low key concert, just him and a piano. This week, my vote is for Chet Atkins and Les Paul, "Masters of the Guitar Together!". Does any more need to be said? The music these two guys put out together is so delicate and refined. True virtuosity - in this recording you can hear why all the great electric guitar players give tribute to these legends. The challenges they lay down for each other and the banter makes this a gem. I have an old LP and the CD from RCA but all that I found on Amazon was an expensive ($36) import version and it's still worth picking up.

Sounds like a great evening this Wednesday so I'll bump this over the next two days and hopefully some of us will listen in and compare notes after the show. 7-10 pm Central time, 91.7 FM or simulcast on KAXE.org. ---------------- How about letting the twins bump it? Added: I've just tuned into KAXE and they're playing some good blues right now.
  13. 'A Sony Electronics spokeswoman told the magazine that no experiments had been conducted, and that the patent "was based on an inspiration that this may someday be the direction that technology will take us."' Hmmmmmm. Sounds more like a knock-off of an old Krell design.

Most people just ignore that pseudo cop-car alarm sound, but Yoko would command ATTENTION in a crowded parking lot! ---------------- I'd love to see the expression on the face of someone breaking into a car protected by a Yoko Alarm.
  15. I think that most people, regardless of sexual orientation, would run away if you pulled this out.

In the one song that I still remember, she was yelling like Tarzan - in a voice that reminded me of two cats gettin' it in the bushes. In the last 25 years, I've not heard anything that even comes close. ---------------- Was this the one? I use it to peel paint.
  17. Spock sings! After the initial curiosity wears off, this is bad.
  18. Had to do one more. Chain of Craters, Hawaii
  19. Denali The gray areas are mountain shadows.
  20. They had to blur the Capitol They also put a mask over the White House roof and other roof tops. Scroll over to the Washington Monument.
