  1. Some questions: How much caulk did it take to do that the way that you have? Are there layers of caulk on the horn or just one layer with some overlaps? Did you make all of the changes at once or one at a time so you know how much each item changed the sound? What is DNM Reson? Thanks. I have a pair of Corns that I want to play with/improve.
  2. ...so what are the right tubes for the jolida? I've been looking at it too.
  3. Have to agree with you on the Bookers! 4. JW, Thanks for keeping track of your project so well. Those are great pics and explanations. I wish that we could ship great sound around as easily as we do great pics - I'd love to hear your Cornscalas sing.
  5. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Dog is man's best friend.
  6. Saw this craigslist ad and thought someone might be interested. $1200 and look in good condition. I'm not associated in any way. http://www.craigslist.org/pen/ele/72226935.html
  7. Thanks for posting those up. I've never seen them before either.
  8. If they sound as good as they look, you are in business!!
  9. Piranha, When you're right, you're right! Cornwalls are great and I love mine too!
  10. That curly maple on those cabs is great. You did a fine job and I can see why you want to keep them.
  11. My thoughts are - how are you going to go wrong with tube gear and Cornwalls? I'm lucky and have some Mc gear - 240 and mx-110 but - but what could you drive the Corns with to sound bad???
  12. Thanks. I've seen a couple of the fabrics that are available but I would prefer the original cane. Not a good reason other than I'd like to have it back to new. Does anyone know how to identify whether a set of grilles is for the 1's or 2's? or if they are interchangeable? Are measurements same or different...or..??
  13. I purchased a pair of 1983 Cornwalls recently but the original owner hadn't liked the grilles and had completely changed them. I think from the owner's description that they were the cane grilles. Would that be right? I would like go back to original but I don't think that the cane material is available any more so I may have to find some grilles in good used condition. Are Cornwall 2's differently sized? Would Cornwall 2's have come in the cane material at all? I'm wondering if I find grilles somewhere if I have to worry about them being Cornwall 2 grilles and not fitting? and finally if Cornwall 2's did come in the cane grille, how can I tell them apart from Cornwall 1 grilles? Thanks for your help.
  14. Saw this on the SF Bay craigslist: Speakers, Klipsch - $280 (santa cruz) Reply to: anon-66784205@craigslist.org Date: 2005-04-03, 7:45PM PDT Classic Klipch, Heresy Speakers. Perfect condition, solid oak cabinetry (No scratches/nicks etc.. .) Great sound, powerful, beautiful speakers! with original brochure. I have no affiliationn and would probably be on these myself but I've spent too much money here recently. Hopefully, someone else can use the info.
  15. Sounds like a very interesting project going on there. I'm looking forward to seeing the pics.
  16. Well, the guy called me back today and I am now the proud owner of a set of Klipsch Heresy's. The walnut veneer isn't in great condition especially on one speaker but replacing veneer for a couple of chips or several is the same job. Serial numbers are 17N979 and 17N976, type H-WO and were inspected by Gwin Cox and tested by NW Bradford. They sound great and I think will be wonderful in conjunction with the Cornwalls. The Heresy's will probably end up on a platform on the back wall with the Corns as fronts. I got them for $240 so I feel like I did reasonably well.
  17. I just got new diaphragms in my "new" Cornwalls. With the tweets working, they are WONDERFULl! My music sounds fresh...new... I haven't even rebuilt the crossovers yets. I may have new furniture for my home!
  18. I hope that you don't get blown out of the room!
  19. Sellers can be intersesting too. The guy posts his ad for speakers. I contacted him to find out about looking at the speakers and he's going to be out of town until Sat. Interesting. Maybe I'll hear back from him.
  20. I saw an ad for Klipsch Heresys described as with red surround alnico woofers. I'm not sure what woofers are supposed to come in Heresy's. Is this something special?
  21. I checked the other speaker too and it's more clear. It's a K-52-K. The mid horn appears to be metal with an unpainted metal flange with 4 screws attaching the magnet. Interesting that there's several variations on the "same" speaker. I ordered two diaphragm kits from Bob this evening. Need to get these guys up and running.
  22. Bob, Thanks for the schematic. I sent you an e-mail with some questions since I had heard that you are the local guru. I'm afraid that I'm fairly ignorant yet on the Cornwall progression over the years. Is there a synopsis somewhere on here or can someone give me the short and dirty version? Thanks.
  23. Yes, it's a serial Y made in 1983. The drivers are K-77-M k-52-B(?) the last character is very smudged and B is only a WAG K-33E The XO board has a tag on top that says Type B3 I hope that identifies it but if not please point me in the right direction.
