  1. Fishing for a late "Happy Birthday" Bill (Silversport)? Actually I'm almost vintage squared, you on the other hand have several years yet, enjoy them! BTW, if this was just vintage SS gear, I suppose you or I could offer up some of our Nak gear, althought I'm out of receivers and into separates now. And for some vintage analog, I could offer up a Pioneer CT-F850
  2. Looks like......here's the link to the manufacturer's site with info about the PF60..... Best of Luck! http://catalog.belkin.com/PureAV_detail.process?Product_Id=178925#
  3. A cold Guinness Extra Stout........
  4. Donald Sutherland "Oddball" the tank driver to an engineer Sgt. in Kelly's Heroes?
  5. OK, here's a hint. More lines from the same scene: "I have been called brave. What is brave? Let me clarify this" Final hint: In his Klipsch interview on this site from a couple of years ago, Billy Bob Thornton said this was one of his favorite movies. OK, OK, one last hint, and this should give it away to anyone who has actually seen the movie: Seconds after the character delivers the "Let me clarify this" phrase, a voice off-camera yells "Attaboy, Luther!" Ok, so I've been asleep at the switch again......the real clue would have been "...and they even used BonAmi..." Could it be the late Don Knotts from the "Ghost and Mr. Chicken"?
  6. Duplicate post, since I have an extra post, thought I'd fill it in with some movie conversation: Willie:.......... I heard you screaming all the way down the alley. Leonard:.......... I wasn't screaming! Alright? Willie:.......... Yes you was. Leonard:.......... I said I wasn't screaming! I was whistling! Willie:.......... You was what? Leonard:.......... I was whistling for you! Willie:.......... You was whistling, "Willie, help, get this b**** off of me"?
  7. First, welcome to the forum. Second, relax, all of us have problems from time to time with our equipment, it's not worth getting "miffed" over, someone here will probably provide your answer, they have always helped me when I couldn't get my equipment to "play nice" together. Sounds like you have been getting good advice here, but if you don't get an answer here, try the "Subwoofer section"of the forum many Klipsch sub owners lurk there. As for your problems with the sub, you don't say if you have an owner's manual, but it sounds like that might be most helpful. I don't have your type of sub, so here is a link to the manual for your specific model sub, instructions for hook-up begin on page 7. Best of Luck! http://www.klipsch.com/media/Products/ksw_om.pdf
  8. Have some friends who claim the same thing, I take a driving course every 2 years, (work requires it) both for speed and agility, I can accelerate and decelerate more quickly through agility course just using right foot on and off gas pedal without braking at all except in hard turns. My experience is that left footed braking in normal driving really doesn't do anything and can lead to that all too common rear end bump at a traffic light when the right foot accelerates too soon. Safer to use right foot on brake, keeps it away from accelerator in traffic.
  9. Chicago (first time they performed "25 or 6 to 4" live) at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin, sittin' on a grassy hill with good friends and some cold ones, great concert, great night!
  10. Well said Michael! I shall also be doing more listening (the bulb for my 60" Sony projector finally went after 3yrs of heavy duty watching) seems that listening in all sense of the word is a good thing, but I will be missing my DVD concerts for a bit until that new bulb arrives. The suggestion to see if there is another med to relieve the tinnitus is a good one Best of Luck!
  11. Try this site, she reviews various free and pay software, I use AVG free anti-virus and Zone Alarms free firewall, I've been without problem for six months and they work better for me than the included Microsoft XP firewall and free anti-virus from Yahoo, I do use Yahoo anti-spy and pop-up blocker though along with Microsoft Defender and Spybot search and destroy on a regular basis. Best of luck! http://www.komando.com/downloads/
  12. PLAYED WITH THE SETTINGS AGAIN DIDN'T YOU?!?!?! Seriously Bill, everyone is giving you great advice and it sounds like you understand it pretty well, play with it for a while, call if you get in a jam and remember, you have TUBES to fall back on!
  13. Digital coax is usually just a single wire rather than a group of wires making up the same wire size. I've used digital coax to connect CD and DVD players to pre-amps without any problem. As far as the Digital versus Analog question, as long as they have RCA plugs, and you are using the two analog inputs and outputs you shouldn't run into any snags. Trying to use the single coax input/output will insure that you will only have a Digital signal, but it sounds like you have it all figured out and really should do ok. Best of Luck!
  14. Congrats on the ordering of the Sony SXRD, I have both a 60" Sony LCD RPTV and a 46" Samsung DLP, the Sony is a bit smoother looking picture while the Samsung has a bit more black detail. The Samsung was recently serviced and I can't say enough for their customer care, no problems with the Sony, but I've owned Sony televisions for almost 30 years and their customer care has also been excellent when needed. Dish HDTV is a beautiful picture when they are truely using HD, but as a back up, I'll be getting an OTA antenna for the locals as Dish doesn't yet use the HD transmission here (Chicago area) for local channels. ENJOY!
  15. For those of you who may not recognize it, Bill (Silversport) tends to wear his heart on his sleeve, but Bill is a lot like Dad. Our father was career Army, from humble beginnings as a Private, during World War II through his retirement as a Major after <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Vietnam. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Being older than Bill, I remember vividly the late night phone calls of the 1960s, Dad getting up, putting on his dress uniform and leaving the house, not really knowing why until much later. You see, Dad was what was called a Survivor Assistance Officer. His job to deliver the news to a local family that their loved one had been killed; it was also his job to make sure appropriate military honors were bestowed upon that soldiers remains and that whatever the familys needs were, were taken care of. Dad did that so well, that a number of families from that era kept contact over the years. Its been several years since Dads passing, but I know his influence lives on in his sons and daughter. Bill carries on that tradition in his profession and was his Departments Assistance Officer for Officer Michael Gordons parents after Michaels passing. The challenge was great, as Michael was both a former co-worker and friend of Bills when Michael worked for that suburban department before moving on to Chicago PD. Those of you who know us, have seen that Bill and I have a friendly competition when it comes to audio, cars and careers, but all competition aside, I couldnt be more proud of Bill and I think Dad is too, as he watches over us. Bill (Silversport), thanks for the reminder that freedom is not without price, may we all keep those who allow us that freedom in our thoughts and prayers. The photo attached is from the Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery, and I think appropriate for the day
  16. Gary, You might try this forum, http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/index.php they are very good at assisting (many are IT Administrators and much more computer literate than I) I've had more problems trying to boot from a back-up copy of "windows" rather than the original install disk. Of course if your friend could make you a "boot help disk" either diskette or CD rather than just using the OS disk, you may be able to get to the "safe mode" and repair the problem. BTW this site http://www.komando.com/bestshareware.asp has links to "freeware" and I have used Zone Alarms free firewall and AVG free anti-virus for quite some time without ill effect. Best of Luck!
  17. Gotta think thebes is onto something, had a roll of clear coated copper wire stored for some years in the garage, when I went to use some, it looked like the "blob" sticky, green and yucky. Of course, now that some neighbors and small animals have begun to go missing lately, I've been sitting here in the dark....... Beware of the Blob, it creeps and leaps, and glides and slides, across the floor and more, and out the door, and all around the wall, a splotch, a blotch BE CAREFUL OF THE BLOB! ! !
  18. DrWho, The 1st cable reads like the el-cheapo you get from a free satellite hook-up, the 2nd is a company I've been considering purchasing from, but feared they were wholesalers and wouldn't sell to me directly. The cable from Provantage is this one: http://www.impactacoustics.com/product.asp?cat%5Fid=701&sku=29160 and the price looks like it is in fact the wholesale price, check Provantage's site for minimum purchases, etc. so there are no surprises. The S-video cable is a low end one from Impactacoustics, you are correct in noting that cables of that length are considerable more expensive. Best of Luck!
  19. Rick, I agree with the others that Blue Jeans, etc. are quality cables, and just to add to the mix, I have been using both of these: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KRY2.1M @ $10.49/meter for a low profile all copper cable and these, http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=eKs-R1 @ $39.99/meter for a silver plated copper coax style, both have worked well for me. Best of luck!
  20. Sure, just one more reason to drive up north and "kill" a day listening to music......Simply Stereo is, pardon the pun "Simply the best", I've been dealing with the same salesman since his old "Hi-Fi Hutch" days. In fact, last time I was up there he even dug up a couple of almost 20 year old 'Hutch' bags for my memorabilia collection. Glad to hear they finally got the Cornwalls II's and Heresy III's in, I'll be "killing time soon"!
  21. Having had to work through major software and hardware changes on an average of every 3-5 years over the past 30+ years, I can say I have only found one constant, "Someone will always find something they don't like" whether it is a different look, a loss of a feature they used frequently (even if it was replaced by an easier and better one) or just having to learn something new and while I normally "ignore the ignoramuses", the tone of some of the posts here just got my goat and I had to respond. On a more personal note, if I may be permitted, I truly appreciate the "family atmosphere" provided by Klipsch and their employees through this forum, in response to requests for assistance and during sponsored events. In addition, I'd like to say that having Amy as the forum's conscience allows us to occasionally "act out" as we members sometimes do, knowing that when we have stretched the limits of our boundaries, a "cooler head will prevail". So I'll jump on the bandwagon started by several other forum members and say thank you, and I'll be patient during the growing pains.
  22. Dr. Bill, Glad to see you found a suitable replacement tonearm, waiting to "hear" how everything works out for you, please keep us up to date! Best of Luck.
  23. Omnimounts are wall and/or ceilling mounted brackets which mate to a ball hinge mounted to the rear of your speaker. (They have various mounts based on your speaker size and weight.) I have used the threaded ones wall mounted with 14 lbs. speakers for over 10 years without any failure. Omnimount now also have keyhole mounts for non-threaded speakers among others, this allows for nearly unlimited up/down and side to side rotation of your speakers to adjust them for your room type. Here is a link to one place which carries them: http://www.mountsandmore.com/Speaker-Mounts-C221.html Bob
  24. Dr Bill, It was my pleasure, I was able to learn something new and that's never a bad thing. Good luck with your restoration! Bob
