  1. Whew. One exteme to another. Thats quite a transition! Good buy, enjoy![]
  2. Just curious as to how a pair of RF-7's coupled with an RSW-15 sounds. Do they do justice to well recorded classical masterpieces?
  3. Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16 Beautiful.
  4. Sorry, I was looking at the user reviews for that 12" audiobahn and this one tickled me: "SO LOUDS ITS ALMOST RETARDED.. i almost blew my ear drums wif theses.. by far the best sub ive eva bought" Honestly, I think that ther is A LOT better bang for you buck for car audio than this alpine audiobahn junk. That is, REAL car audio, not this BOOOM BOOOOOOOM crap. You kinda know its junk when they claim it eats 1500 watts RMS.....
  5. Some great info in here guys! It is heartening to hope that someday I might know this much about speakers, golfballs, and laminar air flow. BUT, in any case, it seems that its about time that I call up B&W and request MY check (eh Dragonfyr? [])
  6. I dont know how old this thread is and whether I have said this before (If so I apologise) but Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy is a Drum god!!!
  7. Long story short, one of my friends thought it would be cool to turn the volume WAYYY up on my premium infinity system in my 98 dodge intrepid. Anyways, scared the crap out of me and he appears to have created a buzz in the speaker on the drivers side. They are regular paper cones, and the part that it buzzing is the speaker on the door by the window, which handles the upper frequencies. I dont know whether this is a tweeter or a mid/high range driver because I cant see through the mesh very well, and I want to know if there is a way to repair something like this before I go tearing it apart some more. I want to avoid buying another speaker from the dealer because they are going to want my right arm and first born child for it. Replacing the entire system is also out of my budget right now. Oh, and the "friend" refuses to pay because he thinks and I quote "It sounds fine! Nothing's wrong with it Jordan, you are way to picky!" Well I guess I know who my friends are now... You can screw with me as much as you want and I wont care. But when you mess with the speakers, oh boy, that gets me steamed.
  8. "Dimples improve the way the air flows over the surface of any object" I disagree with this statement. It does not necessarily improve the way air flows, it simply changes the way air flows. Whether this is an improvement or not depends on the application. In this case, they dont really offer an explanation why they are an improvement in porting.
  9. YES, almost exactly on the nose, except the tweeter and woofer look like they are in a bit better condition from what I can tell from the picture. They are nearly mint. Also the front edge is squared away, not (beveled?) and the area surrounding the woofer is black. Can you point me to some specs?
  10. Im not sure I agree. If friction increased by dimpling, the golf ball would not travel as far. An increase in friction should be directly related to an increase in drag. Therefore, a dimpled gold bal should have less friction with the air and should travel further. I could very well be wrong however. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golf_ball Any physics gurus should chime in now, im more of a molecular biology kind of guy.
  11. I picked up a pair of advent speakers at a garage sale for 30 bucks. Digital camera not working right now, but they sound pretty nice. Anyone know anything about Advent model U339069? Thats all of the info that I can see on them, that and that they say "Advent Corporation - Cambridge, Massachusetts"
  12. Nevermind, forget I said anything. Bowers & Wilkins have already done it. I guess this is why I should research BEFORE posting and making myself look like an idiot. http://www.bwspeakers.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/Op.speaker/file/subwoofers
  13. I was playing a quick game of golf today, and a friend asked me why there were dimples in golf balls. So, I thought about it, and decided that the purpose was to decrease the force of drag on the golf ball. So, I then went home, and continued to think about my subwoofer project and porting and stuff, when I thought to myself, hey, if dimple decrease drag, then what would happen if one used a dimpled port on a subwoofer. Technically, it should allow air to flow at a greater rate throught the port, thereby decreasing the required diameter of the port itself. Thoughts?
  14. C6 corvette with the lingenfelter 427 CID LS2 725 HP twin turbo. Its too bad they havent released their C6 Z06 package yet! http://www.lingenfelter.com/C6LS2Lingenfelter427CIDTwinTurbo725HP.htm
  15. "It's amazing how some get agressive when they are safe in a group or behind a keyboard" Convince Amy to supply me and a few friends with his ip address and we will see how safe he is behind that keyboard.
  16. Only thing im getting at is that it is fantastic bang for the buck, and the money you spend actually stays un the US (omg!) for once.
  17. I am pretty sure that that article was the corvette C6 z51 performance package vs the porsche 911 turbo, not the Z06. I am not sure though but I read that article if not a similar in road and track BTW I think you mean Road and track http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=31&article_id=1652 because autoweek has nothing about the new Corvette Z06. I could be wrong though. The numbers seem to back me up though. The porsche has 415 ft-lbs of torque vs the Vette Z06's 470. 3505 lbs is the porshe's curb wt. vs. 3132 lbs. of the vette. The vette Z06 also gets 16/26 mpg with the stick. not 18. The Corvette Z06 is simply more car for less money. The numbers heavily suggest that this new vette will tear up the P 911 T. http://www.autoweek.com/article.cms?articleId=101520 This article puts the Z06 in a whole different league than the P 911 T, comparing it, albeit in name only, to the viper, ford GT, Ferrari Maranello. Im not sure what article you read. This site http://www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/articles/0-60times.html shows that the new vette beats out the P911T significantly in times.
  18. I dont know how long it has been out, but check it out! Opinions anyone? Has anyone taken one for a test drive? http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette/
  19. " Hey Amy - hope you're sending this thread to the Heritage HQ - seems that the general consensus is that a design y'all haven't built in about 10 years rocks harder than anything you currently sell, save the mighty La's and K's...." *cough* RF-7 *cough*
  20. I feel like an underdog, but I wouldnt want to leave RF-7s and the RSW-15 out of the running. I personally prefer them to the heritage line. I just want to make sure they are not overlooked, because they rock too! Talk about slam...
  21. You can PM me with these "beans" if you feel an uncontrollable urge to spill something.
  22. Here is one I took of my girlfriend of two years. She is great subject materal, so its easy to get good pictures of her.
  23. What are you guys driving that you require premium??
  24. Congrats! Brings back memories. Except I was behind bars for 5 years. Suffice to say, I had bad teeth.
