  1. I noticed the RCA cables didn't fit very tightly into the XLR adapters on my pro amp for my subs so I bent the outer part of the RCA connector to make a tighter fit. While doing this I noticed that the female part where the RCA cable plugs in to the adapter can unscrew from the XLR adapter. Being curious, I unscrewed it and found there was a little white wire coiled up inside and attached to the female end. While screwing it back in I thought I felt some resistance so I unscrewed it again and found that the wire inside had broken. Is this adapter even going to work anymore with the broken wire? I technically don't need it because my amp has a mode called Parallel where it takes the input from a single channel and multiplies it over the two output channels. But, in the manual it says the normal mode to have the amp in is Stereo where both channel one and channel two would be connected on the input.
  2. If you ever come across an Academy, that's the matching center for Fortes. A KV-4 would be a definite upgrade over a KV-3 and a KV-5 doesn't exist. []
  3. I was charged a fee once because a check I deposited from someone else bounced. Why do I get penalized for that??
  4. Yeah, right. If you're anything like me you'll be up until 4am getting everything hooked up and then be upset because you can't listen too loud or you'll wake the wife. [8o|]
  5. Your crossovers and everything sound fine as far as levels go. If your receiver is 7.1 compatible, your RS-52s should be your side surrounds and your RF-82s as rear surrounds. In any event, if you end up not using your RS-52s you should move your RF-82s from behind you and instead place them beside your main listening position. If you're only using one pair of surround speakers they're supposed to be the side surrounds, not rear surrounds.
  6. Basically, none. Here's a KV3 on eBay Buy-It-Now for $95 http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-KV3-Center-Channel-Speaker-WOW_W0QQitemZ250361951575QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item250361951575&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50 Here's one that's Buy-It-Now for $125 or B/O http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-KV3-Black-Satin-Center-Speaker_W0QQitemZ230320769607QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item230320769607&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50 Matching the front three speakers is critical. Picking something brand new is going to be trial-and-error big time, not worth the hassle.
  7. I think in place of the bookshelf would be good, although you'll probably have cords going across the floor that you might have a problem hiding if they bother you.
  8. First thing I'd do is move your side surrounds down. They're mounted way too high.
  9. http://www.audiogon.com http://www.ebay.com http://www.craigslist.org There's been a few offered here for sale, members USNRET and Colterphoto both have offered Adacemies for sale although I'm not sure if they sold them yet or not.
  10. First choice would be another Forte, then a Quartet, then an Academy. Finding a single Forte or Quartet may be difficult but you can always buy a pair and then sell one of them. Hope you enjoy them!
  11. Since you'll be using the analog outs you'll want to make sure the DACs in whatever you're buying are decent. From what they've made in the past, I would imagine that the Oppo would win that war against the Samsung.
  12. Sheesh, a little thanks could be in order for the legwork others have done to help you find a deal on a 906. []
  13. Connect your Blu-Ray player's Sub out to the LFE or Sub input onto your receiver. Then connect your receiver's LFE or Sub output to your Sub.
  14. It doesn't make a difference in sound quality, rather in sound quantity. It sends a hotter signal to the sub's amp. Sometimes louder is perceived as better.
  15. NR905 $999.99 w/free ship: http://cgi.ebay.com/Onkyo-TX-NR905-Silver-7-1-TrueHD-HDMI-Receiver-New_W0QQitemZ320333845356QQcmdZViewItemQQptZReceivers_Tuners?hash=item320333845356&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50 Most view the current 806 as being inferior to the previous 805. Not sure if that's true with the 905/906 change, but it might be worth looking into. I know the 805 has much beefier amplifier components than the 806. Getting the 905 might save you some coin and you might end up with a better receiver overall too.

  19. Just checked his owner's manual, LFE out is the only pre-out on the receiver. Pretty crazy for one that retails for $849!
  20. The amount of 'volume' your receiver is putting out is largely dependent on what the channel levels are set for each speaker. According to your manual your receiver's volume goes up to +18dB. It also looks like there is a 24dB variance that your channel level can be changed. If you've ran your receiver's automatic setup it probably adjusted your speakers into the negative dB channel level since Klipsch speakers have such a high sensitivity rating. Your Denon looks to be a nice receiver and if you're truly pushing its 100 watts into each speaker you have hooked up to it it should be playing at ear bleeding levels. I really wouldn't worry about your volume level being at 0dB.
  21. Your sub's amp cannot power your Paradigm speakers. That's what your receiver is for. Connect your receiver's LFE or Subwoofer output to the low level input on your sub. Connect your Paradigm speakers to your receiver's speaker outputs. If you want to bi-wire or bi-amp your speakers that's up to you. Some say they hear a difference, others say they can't. Your Paradigm's manual should give you info how to do that.
  22. I think Tommy's referring to the air compressor on the left side of the first pic you posted. I noticed it too and was wondering if that's how you clean the dust off your woofers. I use AC/DC's Shook Me All Night Long at 11 on the volume knob.
