  1. I have a very narrow room so mine don't sit too far from the side walls. Because of that I have them toed in quite a bit. They sound awesome to me that way.
  2. Are you positive that your old receiver can't transfer audio over HDMI? I thought all HDMI connections were both audio and video? [:^)] Is there a setting in your 'old' receiver's menu that needs to be adjusted to allow audio through HDMI by chance? {edit}Well, I read through the user's manual of your receiver and it does appear that you do need to make either a separate analog or digital connection in order to hear sound through the receiver. That sucks! One way around that would be to use a Blu-Ray player with multi-channel analog outputs and connect those to the multi-channel inputs on your receiver. That way you'd still get the HD sound formats. I guess going that route would be a lot less expensive than getting a new receiver.
  3. Trust me, every winter my wife asks me why we still live here. She's lived in very warm places like Arizona. I've lived here my entire life.
  4. Me too. I almost waited to shovel until this morning. Glad I did it last night instead!
  5. I'd recommend putting them closer to the wall along with your TV. A general rule of thumb is to place a speaker that has rear ports or a rear passive woofer approximately equidistant from the rear walls as the total diameter of the port(s) or passive woofer(s). I'd start by putting them 15" from the back wall and then move them out slightly from there if need be.
  6. Glad to hear you weren't hurt worse! My Mom made a panic stop when I was about 10 back before seatbelts were mandatory. I flew into the windshield and cracked it with my head. I started bawling and my Mom thought it was because I cracked my head open or something. It really was because I thought she'd be mad at me that my big noggin broke the windshield!
  7. I'm in the process of buying a pair of SVS CS-Ultras and would be selling my current SVS and also my HSU MBM-12 mid-bass module. Email or PM me if you're interested. If you want kick from bass, the MBM is incredible.
  8. Something's gotta be wrong, those KLFs should be pounding the plaster off of your walls. Where do you have them located in your room? How far away from a wall are they? Where do you sit in your room? (Square in the middle, closer to the back wall, closer to the front wall, etc?)
  9. Is this how Colter bumped his post count up so fast?
  10. No I didn't dangit. I usually check for stuff like that, too.
  11. I think you need to figure out your receiver first. It will have subwoofer crossover levels and output levels that will need to be adjusted. 80Hz is the recommended setting for a subwoofer's crossver. You shouldn't have the input gain at full blast on your sub, usually around the 10 or 11 o'clock position.
  12. Yes, virtually all Blu-Ray discs have some type of lossless audio format on them. The dynamic range is much broader than DD or DTS. I listen/watch mainly to Blu-Rays that I get through NetFlix. When I switch to a regular DVD it sounds like someone threw a blanket over the speakers.
  13. Setting a speaker to full range is usually only done when you don't have a sub. You want a sub to take care of 80Hz and under bass, that's what they're designed for. Your receiver won't have to amplify the deepest of bass frequencies, allowing it to use its watts for midbass and up which are much easier watts for a receiver to handle. If you want to experiment a little with the F3s response, go ahead and give it a try. Start at 80Hz and work down from there. Try not and have too big of an overlap between your F3s and your Sub-12. Meaning: If you end up setting your F3s at 70Hz, don't set your Sub-12 much higher than 70Hz or their output frequencies can overlap and sometimes cancel each other out.
  14. Based on your quoted -3dB points, I'd set your F3s to 80Hz, C2 to 90Hz, S1 to 100Hz and Sub-12 to 80Hz.
  15. There are a handful of 7.1 Blu-Ray discs out. In almost any situation, 5.1 will suffice unless you have a huge, wide room. 5.1 in the lossless formats is unbelievable. Great audio from Blu-Ray is here now.
  16. Enjoying whatever it is I did when I was 1. []
  17. Just watched it yesterday. Wasn't horrible, of course I love the LFE that the Blu-Ray had. []
  18. Radio Shack sells an SPL meter that many, many use for this exact thing. Does your receiver have any kind of test tone generator for each channel? If so, you can just use that along with the SPL meter.
  19. I was going by the "Like New Condition" in the title. Seems to be a pretty good deal to me. []
  20. Where could you find such low prices? Please PM me if that's sensitive info. Thanks, Frank. http://cgi.ebay.com/Onkyo-TX-SR805-7-1-channel-Receiver-EXCELLENT-CONDITION_W0QQitemZ120357075309QQcmdZViewItemQQptZReceivers_Tuners?hash=item120357075309&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50 Onkyo's store has frequently had refurbished 805s on the cheap too.
  21. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ele/975703293.html You will notice a huge difference, increased vocal clarity and much smoother sound transitioning from your front mains to the center and vice-versa.
  22. The specs and many have said that the previous 805 is actually better than the current 806, if that helps at all. You can get 805s for less than $500.
  23. There's a KV3 on audiogon.com right now. Nothing too fancy about my Mustang. '01 GT convertible with aftermarket rims, Borla exhaust, Tokico suspension.
