  1. Outstanding job!! Those are beautiful....but WAIT, do I not see 3 cabinets in that picture, please shed some more light.
  2. I still love rock and roll as well, but I must admit I am enjoying classical music alot. There just seems to be more going on compared to a 4 piece r/r band. I thoroughly enjoy listening to the fine intricacies with an orchestra, there is just so many things to listen to and with a good setup you can really appreciate just what is going on. That being said I am like OB and rock in roll will always be numero uno.
  3. BLO is great, but I thin it down with mineral spirits. It helps is lay down better and is not so thick. I initially use a 3:1 ratio, then I use a 2:1. I also use 0000 steel wool to buff it and it gives it a nice sheen and makes is smooth as a baby's bum.
  4. I notice my albums stick to the felt mat and then I can hear the discharge. What do you guys do to combat the static. I wash all my records with a records cleaner. Thanks for any input
  5. I am very happy with my setup and am not going change anything. I almost parted with my VRD's to go with a MC275, I had a moment of clarity and I told the nagging little upgraditis bugs to shut the hell up and get out of my life. I feel I have reached MY nirvana. Just look at my setup, how much better can it get. I use the horsepower analogy. To get my Sportster to 95 hp cost me around 3 grand. To get 5hp more would cost me the same amount and I would probably not notice the difference. Losing 20 lbs of my midsection would make a bigger difference then spending a couple thousand to get the added hp: point of diminishing returns is reached. Sure I could get some Jubilee's, but are they $7500 better sounding than my Khorns? Don't get me wrong, I love the Jub's, I have heard them, but there comes a point. Hope this helps
  6. I have had my 880 for 2 years now and really like it. There does seem to be an issue with the charging station making good contact in order to charge. I encountered the problem myself, but logitech was really good about it. They sent me out a new charging station and that was about a year ago. Then about 5 months after that, I ran into the same problem. Once again logitech tech support was very helpful. They ordered me a 3rd charging station, but the backorder on them was so long that the went ahead and sent me a whole new remote and charging station. Now I have one station and 2 remotes, so I use one for the living room and the other in my music room. In my music room I have an older EAD and the harmony even works for that, so I must say even with the charging issues the remote itself has been fantastic.
  7. Yeah, I am very content as well, but I feel I have the best of all worlds, although I just had my SME rewired by Alfred Kayser and also original sme adapter plate. I almost sold my VRD's for a MC 275, but I am glad I did not do it. I have a RF 83 setup for HT and then my Vert. Decorator cornwalls in my garage. If I were to do anything else, I would get rid of my NAD in the garage and put something a little nicer in there, but I do not fee the urge to do so. I think I will enjoy my current setup for quite some time. Thank goodness I don't have a room big enough for Jubes!!!!!
  8. Thanks for that bit of info guys, it worked ont he right channel. I am still going to send if off to be rewired/RCA adapted. The left channel had an open and I fixed that, but I figured since the darn thing has been around a while it could use some sprucing up.
  9. Pete, Do you have a link the guy in Canada? The one guy I found doesn't do the RCA upgrade. Thanks Sam
  10. What about rewiring? I have the removable headshell, but dont know how to get to the wires in the neck where the meet the headshell?
  11. Thanks Mike, I will give them a call tomorrow
  12. The title says it all. I bumped my TT last night, no vinyl being played at the time. Well, I have been reading the AJA thread and thought I would put mine on. When I powered everything up, there was no putput. I started fiddling with the connectors, and sure enough the RCA jacks that plug into the back of the BBX must have an intermittent, which I understand, but this is where I get a little confused. I should state that it is a series 2 imp. w/ removable headshell. When the BBX is in stereo, no matter how much wiggling I do I can only get output from the left channel, but when I put it in mono I get output from both. I have taken resistance measurements between the ground and center conductor on the RCA jack. Both left and right channels read 12 ohms (doing all this with no power applied), am I correct in assuming that the reading is what I am getting from across the Cartridge coils? I am hoping I can just cut off the old rca connectors and solder some new ones on and cure the problem. They are the original SME connectors, which I have read leave little to be desired. My next question is replacing the RCA wiring from the bottom of the tonearm to the point where it connects to the BBX: what cables are good for doing this and what where to purchase them. The only place I have seen is needle doctor, but not sure which one I need. Thanks for any advice.
  13. I am willing to help you out. I am willing to free up all the space your lp's are taking up in your garage and have them take up space in my music room. Send me a PM if you want to sell your collection. The more lp's the betta!!!
  14. I have had my AVR430 for 4 years or so now and I love it. I have used it for HT, powering Lascala's (front), Cornwalls(rear) and Heresy's(center). Now I use it to power my RF-83's. It has a warmth to it I didn't realize until I got my NAD power amp. The NAD doesn't touch it in my opinion, it has a "muddyness" to it that the HK doesn't. It can't compete with my 2 ch. setup, but for everything else it is great and I have never had any noise issues with it. We have an xbox360, DVD Sat. cable box, Wii and TV routed through ours and it does a great job. When this one goes to HiFi heaven I will probably replace it with anothe newer AVR.
  15. That sounds to me like your speaker is upside down, as they are angled up on my RC64. Hope this helps.
  16. Thanks for the reply's guys, that is exactly the kind of input I have been looking for. I always had a nagging feeling when I traded the cornwalls. I am still not sure what I am going to do, but I have a funny feeling the cw's would be better in the room. Tom I will shoot you a pm.
  17. I have Lascala's and heresy's as well(trade one of them for cornwalls), but until I got the Khorns, the cornwalls were my fav. I traded them for the Khorns, which was a great deal. I had the Lascala's first and really liked them, but once I got the Cornwalls.............it was something different. It must be midlife crisis, cuz I almost got rid of my VRD's for a MC-275, but I am glad I didn't, it is a killer setup.
  18. I don't know why, but I find myself missing my Cornwalls. I have no reason as I have Khorns. I guess I am wondering if the Cornwalls would be better in my 14x12x9 room. Would someone please tell me to pull my head out and rejoice in the fact that I have Khorns in there. I must be having a moment.
  19. I have late 70's Khorns and I love them. The gentleman that sold them to me has had numerous pair, some older and some newer, and he felt these were the best sounding of the bunch, regardless of age. The only reason he sold them is because he bought new Jubilee's. The caps on the crossovers were replaced, which you may need to do, depending. Or you could contact Bob Crites, DeanG (if he still does Khorns), or Al Klappenberger http://www.alkeng.com/. , and have new ones made. They all make very nice crossovers. I have had both Bob and Dean build new ones for my LaScala's and Cornwalls. I think you will be very pleased, go for it and enjoy.
  20. I would love some RS62, but I have to sell my LaScala's, Heresy's and my EAD pre before I bring anything else into the house (WAF factor). I got a killer deal from a forum member on my 83's/64 combo, and so I am also waiting patiently for another to come along.
  21. I run mine with a H/K avr 430 and it is more than plenty. I have RF83, RC64, and RW12 (I am still looking for a good surround for this setup). You can pick up an H/K pretty reasonable. Mine is 75W, and I find it to be plenty of power. I am sure you can spend a fortune if you want some other setup, but I find this works really well for me. I must throw in a caveat though, I have a dedicated 2ch room with VRD's BBX and Khorns, so the other is primarily for theater.
  22. I have a very nice pair of LaScala's, only problem is I am in Idaho. I would be willing to ship if you were. I could send some pics if interested. Sam
  23. Those look so "Flash Gordonish", It would look killer to see Emperor Ming standing between them. Some beautiful woodwork
