  1. Mine sounds like speakers in corners.
  2. Forte II 10/10 $750 Chorus II 10/10 $900 Klipschorns 5/10 $1,000 I invested $1000 more into my Klipschorns including all new drivers, crossovers, wire, and refinished.
  3. I know the seller. He is one of the best! Check out his feedback and the items he sells. He sells real nice audio.
  4. I sure hope somebody takes them. I'm almost close enough.
  5. I talked to Bill at Great Plains Audio today and he recommended the 811 horn crossed at 800Hz for the best home application. He said that the only reason they crossed them at 500Hz at theaters was to get more sound firing out of the 511B horn out into the audience. Back then, bass was not as important. He also recommended the 902 driver and N8500 crossover. The N8500 gives you the option of 500 or 800Hz. I'm wondering if you could just use the 511B horn and cross it at 500Hz or 800Hz depending what sounds best for your application. I wonder why he recommended the 902 driver over the 802? Is the 902 a newer series? He did say that the 802 would be fine, but not the real old ones. He said he did not have time to talk, so I had to let him go before I was able to get all the information I needed from him. So I'm asking the forum members here their take on Bill's recommendations. I'm finding this stuff interesting. Thanks for any other help you offer.
  6. KCM, I'll reply to your PM as soon as I receive it. I saw your AA post and did not reply as you ask. CaptnBob, Are these tangerine phase plugs hard to get? Are they easy enough to install and can you use them on most drivers? I bet they sound tangerine sweet. Thanks all. Your information and offers helps me a lot. This is a great forum because of its great members! A7 bound...
  7. sheltie dave , One is 6.1 ohms and the other is 5.8 ohms. Is that good or bad? I did not know their dc resistance would tell you about their condition.
  8. What is special about the 802's having the tangerine phase plug?
  9. I bought those Altec A7 bass cabinets. They came with 416-8A woofers. On my last post about them one forum member here recommended 802-8G HF driver with N501 crossovers and another recommended the 902 drivers. Anyone else have any other to recommend? KCM wrote, I have a nice pair of 511B horns and 802 drivers (freshly rebuilt by Great Plains) available if you are interested. How much?
  10. Way to go Bob! It looks nice. Keep up the good work.
  11. How do I contact Bill at Great Plains Audio?
  12. You did an outstanding refurbish job on those Altec A7 speakers! They look VERY nice! Beautiful....
  13. I may have a chance to buy some Altec A7 bass cabinets with woofers for $350. They're beat up some. Where is a good place to buy the metal horns, drivers, and crossovers? There seems to be many options. Can anyone recommend the best ones? Does a member here build crossovers for them and how much cost? What does a complete A7 pair sound like? Are they worth owning? Any advice would be very helpful and much appreciated. Thanks.
  14. You did a GREAT job building those! They are BEAUTIFUL! Music is even better listened to with components you built yourself. Congratulations... Check out a cd called A Chill Out Tribute To Pink floyd. I've seen them used for 6.99
  15. You're right about that. Those are some very low prices. I'd like to hear his speakers. I bet they sound great.
  16. Top cabinets look home made. Are the bass cabinets home made, Speakerlabs, or vintage Klipsch? They would be worth the right price. Enjoy them as is or mod them later if you felt the need.
  17. From one AZ to another. Congratulations! You'll be smiling all the way there and back. []
  18. Mine arrived today. It's very nice. Thank you! This forum is sweet...
