EV made a 12" dampened woofer back in the 60's. I have a pair of EV's with them in it they are about the same size as Heresy. The woofer looks from the front the same as the red surround EV made Heresy woofer.From the back the woofer has what looks like white Styrofoam glued to the paper cone. These speaker go much lower than the Heresys and are good speakers.

Its kinda like Fender Strats 72 and 60 guitars both are good years but diffrent. I'd go for the 60 as it will be worth a hole lot more in the long run as few were made compared to a 60. Plus the smooth sound of the big wood horn is to die for.

I like the early drivers myself over later ones. I also find the early crossover are more stable than later ones. All of mine have test to spec and the date from 51 to 59. It's funny for me the older a good driver is the better they sound at least in my vintage speakers and guitar amps. For me the wood mid horn rules as well as the other drivers used. Klipsch used good stuff back in the day. If you decided you like the later driver better you can always sell the early driver and buy the later and with the profit left over buy some nice vinyl. I have a friend that really wants a pair of pre 60 khorns if anyone comes up with one or two let me know.

Of the top of my head I would say they around 1960 give or take a year. Do the have the part Wood mid horn? M 75 would be mahogany. If you dont want them I have a freind looking for the older Khorns.

You should try the EMU 0404 cards as the converters are way better than the M audio . I had the m audio and it sound weak and lifeless. Plus with EMU you get wav lab with it a real nice mastering program that can copy anything that plays through the sound card like itunes files. It also is great editing cds you can cut and past section of sound do fade in fade out add effects ect. plus it's only around 100 at guitar center.

Klipschorn in the 50,s were made with a built in roatating lesley adapter for organ use. Lascale were made with built in amps for key board use. Any of the vinatge klipsch and pro version will work great. If you use stock one just add some fuse to the high end if yiour going to crank it. I use stock 50's khorns for keyboard speakers in my studio.

on my 51,58 and 59 khorns the stevens drivers are all 16 ohm. as well as the Jensen drivers used early on. I think with a 32 ohm driver you would have to change the crossover setting.

My early 51 khorns are three way. If you look close behind the grill in the pics of the 48 you can see the tweeter. I thought at one point the early khorn used a western electric mid /high driver and that was the two way one.

I have some orig Cabnart catalogs from the 50's showing 3 different Cabart rebel's made under license from Klipsch. I even found on Ebay a dealer display with clear front showing the klipsch Kortho drive system. This is also sown in the catalog. They also made cool cabinets for making your own consoles ect. if someone twist my arm I'll try to have it scanned.

These have been on ebay 3 times .They have been heavyly modified and appear to be covered in a new out side cabinet . They never looked like this new. To bad they are so botched up.

I see them on ebay from time to time. The the top cabinet seems to be easier to find then the bottoms. I picked up a pair of tops on ebay than a forum member sold a set of bottoms a both a month later. Its kinda fun putting klipsch speakers set together this way and it save a lot buying this way. Industrial lascalas came raw,paint , textured paint and fiberglass covered. Trim was added to the fiberglass and textured ones. They also came in two part or one piece. The two part tops which have the triangle shaped were designed this way to save space when used on the road. They also could be stacked on the top of bass bins easy this way and aimed in different directions. I used some of the lasala tops with khorn bottoms when I had them in a smaller room and needed to aim the mids/highs in a little. I really like the look of the industrial lascalas my favorite are the first ones from early 60's with horizontal bass cabs and top drivers exposed in flat black.

They sound good if not great in my stock orig 51 khorns. I also had ab them with the ev t35 and they hold there own. they seem to cover the high end fine In all my test. Never felt my 51's needed any things with the university drivers on top and the trusonic or jensen below

Craig thanks for your kind offer I sent you a email. I was lucky back when Ebay was young and scored it for only 200 with a 200 rebate for miner very miner shipping damage. plus a undisclosed dial problem. The Canadian seller went above and beyond with the refund as I only wanted a 50 refund. There is a small 1/4" dent on the rear coner bottom plate as well as the tuner light cable melting do to a poor dial repair.I fixed the dial so it works with out shorting the wire but it does not turn numbers well. he melted dial wire i did a quick fix and replaced it with a new wire but never solder it in. Maybe I need to send the tuner to you for a tune up alignment.

Anyone know if other Scott tuner dials will fit the 310e . My 310e has a bad dial gear . I was thinking that maybe I could by a broken scott mono tuner and rob the dial off it.

The top section was designed to fit the larger early wood/glaass mid horn. I have a extra mid horn and t35 hmmm I also have a 59 that could be paired witth this. Ps khorn 51 is the same a s khorn58
