  1. Thought I'd post some pics of my new speaker wire, came today. It's some sexy stuff about 1/2" total diameter, with 4x14GA wire in a twisted star configuration, which helps to regect some EMF. It's kind of stiff though, I'm only able to get about 10" of radius bend out of it. Overall I think it does really sound a little better then my previous 16ga non bi-wire cable. I can't really say if its the bi-wire or the larger gauge making it better, but it sounds better to me. And it looks oh so nice on the floor. Here it is coming out of my NAD C272 amp.
  2. I just got finished cutting and wiring the speaker cable up, and personally I can hear an improvement, I bi-wired off both sets of binding posts on my NAD C272 amp, not just twisting together 1 end of the cable and sticking it into a single row binding posts.
  3. The Canare 4S11 speaker wire just came, wow this stuff is impressive, I almost feel like I don't want to use it but just look at it, it's so heavy and thick.
  4. I figured it would be around 80%. It would be nice to have a dock, but at $100 with the remote, I'll pass.
  5. I for one don't want to ever see Klipsch start a car audio line, EVER. there are already enough car audio brands out there, Klipsch doesn't need to be one of them. I really dont know why I wouldn't want to see Klipsch car speakers, I just don't. It might be due to the fact that I am just not a car audio person, I'd rather listen to the engine and road noise, rather then a mixture of engine, road noise, screaming kids, and on top of that music.
  6. I seemed to have missed this article as well. Funny comment about Bose, and I feel exactly the same about thoes B&W's which I've heard and I'm not impressed for that kinda coin.
  7. The Pioneer 1015 is probably one of the best receivers on the market or the best for under $500 http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4153_209686388,00.html
  8. Ok so what's the deal, is tinning wire not worth the time? I was always told it's the right thing to do if you run bare wire.
  9. I've never owned Rotel, so no it's not my pre-amp which you are assuming it is, I've only demo'd Rotel againt other similarly priced components on various speaker brands, the comment's I made are of my own opinion. I think Rotel lacts detail, some people might think they don't, some people think Yamaha receivers are bright, some people don't, the argument can go on forever. There is no need to get defensive and start calling me silly names.
  10. The oxidation is my main concern with the bare wire, I don't wanna have to to trim the wire a few months down the road becuase of it.
  11. For hooking an iPod (in my case a 60GB 5th gen) to a preamplifier, via the headunit jack, what volume level do I want the iPod to be set at?
  12. I found some Oatey 53176 Lead-Free Rosin Core 95/5 solder in my dads tool box, would that work? I wouldn't have to buy anything.
  13. Yeah, any form of digital connection will be using the receiver/pre-pro DAC to decode, where as analog (descrete 6 channel out) will rely on the source hardwares DAC. For example, a CD player connected via RCA output, the CD player will be doing all the decoding, where as the same CD player if it has a coax or optical digital connection, connected to a receiver, the receiver will do the decoding.
  14. Is the lead content in solder actaully something to be worried about? I notice on the bottom of the page on radioshack.com it says chemicals in this product are known to cause cancer, solder can cause cancer??
  15. What about this stuff that says Rosin Core? Is this the stuff I need? http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062715&cp=&kw=solder&parentPage=search
  16. I have decided to go ahead and just simply tin the bare wire ends of my new Canare Quad Star speaker wire instead of spending a lot of money on banana plugs or spades which I don't really need, and was wondering what solder I should use to do it, I was talking to Jay and he mentioned 4% silver solder from RatShack.
  17. I have to agree with Jay, In my opinion Rotel always sounds so flat and lacks detail, I really don't like amps that require the use of tone controls to make them sound good.
  18. As Jay said, yeah I run F-3s and a NAD C162/C272 seperates, upgraded from a Pioneer 2-channel receiver, I really love the NAD, it sounds really good with Klipsch, the enhanced smoothness of the bass is what really caught my attention, and lets just say I will never be touching the tone controls ever again, it's just so balanced when run flat, and to think if I had Heritage of Reference.
  19. Thanks ScorpsFan, House of Flying Daggers is the name of the movie a friend of mine was wanting to know about, I was at his house last night when I posted. He wanted something good to demo his system with, and that seems to be what everyone uses.
  20. Does anyone know the name of the DVD used for audio testing in BestBuy and other audio/video stores, it has asians characters and marshall arts in it please
  21. I knew there was a reason why I liked this forum so much, you people are all so nice. I told him over the phone that everyone from the Klipsch Forums wished him a speedy recovery.
  22. It's my dads 56th birthday today which he is celebrating in the hospital after recovering from leg surgery for the past week.
  23. Reading that brought a tear to my eye Thanks Bill.
