  1. welcome to the great subwoofer vs. receiver bass management world! keep in mind that the LFE channel can carry up to 120HZ signals. since the ksw-12 has no unfiltered input (like they put on the ksw-15), i'd just wire it up speaker level. good way to avoid all the conflicts & hassle. jmo. ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on!
  2. LOL - funny response K - you're a gas! u know i'm eyeing new amplitude. got this '75 kenwood 160WX2 laying around 2. would make a great power amp but the thing's huge. damn sony has no preouts either. though i guess there's a way w/ the tape out jacks. thanks for the tip! u are right on!
  3. yes the majority seem to say it makes an audible difference & klipsch did make some of their newer speaks biwirable for a reason. the con i've heard, but certainly not yet tested, is that it could put more strain on your amp/receiver. with my low current sony, that's been more than enough to keep me away from it. i did replace the gold straps w/ 12awg wire though, & thought i noticed a slight improvement, or did I? figured that was a nice compromise for me so now i can sleep in sum: lot of variables involved ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on!
  4. i thought of cod too, but if someone really wanted to get u, i guess they could just send a box with brick(s) in it. i know for collectables they send cod in a clear sleave. i would think the insurance has to state what is in the box though. maybe they'll let u open the box & look before u pay or put a stop on the cod if it's not good (doubt that). seems like a lot of trust needed regardless.
  5. that's a big 10-4 doug. md, i'll tell my local dealer lady to call me 1st before she unloads to an unauthorized dealer really she's pretty fair. she knows I know about the big markup to msrp. guess some people even do still buy new cars at msrp these days. but you have to ask for the lower price, even w/ "fair" salespeople. btw, what happens if you move? can u still take a warranted product into your new klipsch authorized dealer or do you have to ship it back to the dealer where u purchased?
  6. hey johnny congrats. you're lucky there - if/when i get khorns i'll still keep my corns for rears. all i can tell u is they were made 1976. others know all the component info for that year of the corn. ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on!
  7. they got back by email & said like i figured that they bot from an authorized dealer & therefore can make a claim to Klipsch. the mechanics of a return somewhat left to the imagination though.
  8. oh yea evan that's a point i made over on the other klipsch policy thread going on under Tech. thanks for the link. i have checked w/ a few of the online dealers & they say they can make a claim to klipsch if need be for warranty coverage since they bot from an auth dealer. sound legally valid to me. more ammunition maybe w/ the local dealer
  9. how about sf-2, sc-1 front & center & heresy in rear. maybe it's too engrained w/ me to put towers in front w/ the sub & heresys in rear. you're probably fine there though as the c-7 is a good match w/ my cornwalls(heritage line class) & (u do know the sf-1 have powered subs built in?) u get the rear sub effect (may have to turn em down some & hopefully not a lot conflict w/ your ksw). *jmo- be sure to set it up & listen before commiting (most good dealers charging msrp (1800 on klf-30 btw) would let u try em at home). ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on!
  10. we're all here with u k! we feel your pain
  11. guess klipsch warranty here is invalid though. still a good example of authorized dealer's markups. & maybe one needs no warranty on klipsch (???) ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on!
  12. yea, not to step on any brandnamesz.com users toes but I just tried calling their hard to find phone #, got some barely intelligible message, pushed 1 & then it switched to some strange ring like it was going to taiwan or somewhere, then asked me to leave a message. i did saying i was interested in klipsch speaks so we'll see if they ever call back. for me, they're just a bit of a bargaining chip w/ the local dealer. though i really do empathize w/ those who don't have a fair or any local dealer.
  13. maybe this explains why we're getting so many ?s on how to hook up a ksw - yea use a Y adapter it's in the manual
  14. md, oh me too on klipsch. they're great - just sent me out a speaker foot replacement no charge. it's just that they have to also support their dealers & obviously, as we have to negociate a price w/ them there will be conflicts. but what happens in CA when u buy from an "unauthorized" klipsch dealer & need warranty work? anyone gone this route? i suspect the e-tailer will tell u that u have to deal with klipsch for the warranty, while klipsch will tell you they won't do it. so then you take klipsch to court? think we have a theory vs. reality thing here maybe some e-tailers will just send u a new one - if they're still around that is. after all, didn't they buy from an authorized dealer? any of these like brandnamesz.com would not do that anyway. rock on!
  15. right on! & that's a passive radiator in the back i do believe. doesn't it say on the back or have they been refinished?
  16. md makes a good point on those legals. though i checked w/ the KS AG office & they have no law to in effect force U.S. manufacturers to honor warranties on new products sold. klipsch stated concern is whether in certain cases these products are actually new. but legally that's between you & the dealer, not klipsch. however, it is a valid point that klipsch could suffer adverse economic consequences of unauthorized dealer sales. a point klipsch could & probably would legally make even in states w/ the consumer protection laws md mentioned. so one as a consumer has to place some value on the warranty & other services that the local retail dealer sale has to offer. f.e., is the $600 (assuming shipping & sales tax wash) saved on the klf-30 from brandnameX.com worth the warranty hassles & lack of other services? to some maybe. & the authorized dealers are or should be made aware that we have that option. fortunately, my local dealers will work w/ me on price. but take that as ammunition to the authorized dealer that won't budge from MSRP. w/ a $600 (earning interest) budget we could pay for our own repair or do it ourselves. in the meantime maybe we should be lobbying the gov for more support instead of klipsch (internet law also being in it's infancy). Boa "not a lawyer nor play one on this BB" H.
  17. i use to drive my cornwalls(98db) pretty well w/ a 15WX2 sansui amp. i'd give em a try - u could always take em back (or get a higher output). ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on!
  18. i agree w/ dave pretty much. how space limited are u? i think the better timbre match for the heresy are the legend or of course the heritage lines. if possible i'd put legend towers in front w/ a good sub & c-7 center & delegate the heresy to the rear. jmo ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on!
  19. o yea kg, i remember those amps. believe a few SAE house guys had SAE amps those were the days - lux, phase linear, carver. some still around i guess. afraid those 33-B are before my time of having the $. couldn't afford my corns til i got out of undergrad good luck on the B!
  20. hey, how'd i get druged into this? Boa's Klipsch Hyper Clearing House? no wait, klipsch policy states I'd have to sell only within my exclusive area & deliver w/ my own trucks - no go there unless y'all move here to the center of the universe. klipschdirect is only a matter of time. maybe klipsch really does tolerate the internet dealers while giving the dealers their policy for comfort. oops, just gave it away so how's this brandnamesz work?
  21. i think u have to get at least a -1 karma rating before being banned & it looks like rw is clean hey rw, look what i got now below - klf30/c-7. & the sub now between them in front. simply amazing. ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF C-7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on!
  22. kg, was that an SAE party. i was in SAE in college. seriously, i have the vintage '84 cornwalls w/ the K-33-E. until about a year ago i always drove then in stereo w/ a '75 kenwood kr-9600 160Wx2 .08%thd dual power supply receiver (top of the line back then). but the unit finally blew mar/00 late on a fri pm & took both k-33-E with it. up until then the unit had driven the corns numerous times previously for hours at a time while the watt meters were bouncing off 200W peaks. never any trouble w/ the corn drivers. the kenwood is now back to operational & sitting in mothballs waiting to become a power amp or a 2nd system receiver. they don't make em like that anymore. hopefully it & the corns will meet again. moral: bad power out of even a nice clean receiver can blow about anything. but it took 16 yrs to blow anything on those cornwalls (& it wasn't their fault ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF C-7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on!
  23. &*^%$ darnit. just ordered it from cdnow & didn't even look at the song list that's ok i guess; still like the band. saw them actually a few yrs back at the HORDE fest as the lead off band. didn't play that or their crimson song either. still sounded good to this hard rock fan. actually they only played about 20 min as no crowd had really arrived yet. thanks for the info.
  24. ttk, one word: space. i know i'm picky (anal), but this actually makes great sense to me. i would have went w/ the klf-30 in a heartbeat but they wouldn't fit in the front of room. found some modular furniture though that solved it, & hey i'm single (though the girlfriend is starting to complain ) the ref i think are not really timbre matched w/ the corns & the legends are (well at least more so). if i can ever get the corns in front the c-7 is a good match there too. actually the 30s (@102db) may be even better in front - guess i'll find out. the sony's not real high amperage but is 110WX5 & those more efficient legends should work even better w/ it. of course the next step will be probably be a marantz or denon receiver. but not so fast hopefully.
  25. nevermind the rc-7. now that i've found more space, i'm going to upgrade the reference for legends: klf-30 & c-7. much better match for the cornwalls (still in the rear though). guess i better hurry on those legends Boa "turncoat" H. ------------------ Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 subwoofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on!
