buying new VS used, which do you do
homemadeheresy replied to joessportster's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Thus far I have been limited to buying used. I like the stuff I have, although it sure would be nice to see a set of Klipsch boxes show up via UPS. Am getting ready to undertake an addition onto my house and would like to freshen up the theater system. I do believe I will be investing in some new equipment. Although I've never heard the reference system, have been flirting with the idea of incorporating into my new room. I'll keep my fingers crossed[] -

I recently acquired another K-22 that was reconed, but it too is trash in its current state. Should I send them out and have them reconed? Is it difficult to do yourself, if parts are easily accessible? Or keep playing the epay lottery? Out of four woofers I've bought from ebay only one is a viable unit.

Nice snag... -
Have been flirting with the idea of buying some better amps for some time. Have wanted to experience some of Bob Carver's works but have been unable to decide. Wanted to try something in the 200wpc range. I have been tempted from time to time at buying one of these amps and trying it out. Considering that once I find the one I like, I'll have to purchase a few more to complete the theatre set-up, I want to get the best bang for the buck. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Whether it be good or bad. Thanks in advance for you input.... Sam

Too many speakers in a small room
homemadeheresy replied to mowntnbkr's topic in Technical/Restorations
I'd have to agree, never too many speakers. Right now in my 16 x 14 hole in the basement. I've got the homemade La Belles as L & R, the Kg-5.5s on both sides the the entertainment center for centers. The Homemade heresys as rears. Movies sound great when watching, better than the theatre. Plus the price of popcorn and soft drinks is reasonable. -
Nice find, keep playing with the positioning on them. Enjoy[<)]

is this a K-1132 driver????
homemadeheresy replied to homemadeheresy's topic in Technical/Restorations
The pictures on the ad don't do the driver justice. Got a tape measure out and it measures about 7 3/4" across the back of the magnet... -
Just received this driver and crossover and have no idea of what it is. I assumed that I would find some info on the driver itself, but I was wrong. The crossover does have k--366A written on it, but that search doesn't turn up anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is a link to the auction, if you have the time, take a look and lend me any info that you may have. What are used La Scalas going for??????
homemadeheresy replied to homemadeheresy's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Well I called the gentleman with the La Scalas and tried to arrange a day to view the speakers. Wasn't able to do it on Friday, so we discussed Saturday. Called Friday to arrange a Saturday after work viewing. Everything was okay, untill I called before leaving work Sat. All of a sudden something had come up and he had to go to Pittsburgh. So I didn't get to see or hear them, so I decided not to bid again. Someone picked them up for $880. I would have like to listen to them before shelling out close to a grand. Heck with it I think I'll just plan on building a set of Jubs -
What are used La Scalas going for??????
homemadeheresy replied to homemadeheresy's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Thanks for all the input. My bid now is kind of on the low side. I am going to try to look at them Saturday evening after work. As long as everything works, they may stay La Scalas or contribute their drivers to the Homemade Khorn project. Too early to tell. As many of you have noted, the tops appear to have been flooded at one time or another. He is the second owner, and received these from his friend for some work he had done. The friend, the original owner, supposedly babied these things i.e. not letting people use them for coffee tables, or the like. But apparatently they now appear to have been a plant stand or something. Either way, I am calling him Saturday before I leave work and try to audition these beauties. I'll keep you guys posted. :0 -
