man this is going to be a great system! Runco makes all kinds of great stuff, all their projectors are top notch. Deciding on the exact model will be hard though. DLP, CRT? I don't know, might want to take a look at a dealer. As the center speaker is THE most important in home theater, it needs to be at least as good as the mains. Using an RC-7 is a compromise that takes into account size. But of course and RC-7 will not give you as much performance as a full-blown RF-7. Which means, if you have the room and the money, go with the RF-7 in the center. Heritage speakers do not all need corners. The Cornwall, as its name implies, is basically a Klipschorn that doesn't need a corner. Apparently the Heritage and Reference series have VERY different sounds. It's a matter of taste which you prefer. A couple people I talked to heard Belles and preferred the Ref sound, but that doesn't mean they're right, as most people that vocalize here seem to prefer the Heritage speakers. Of course, auditioning Heritage migh be kind of a hassle right now... With the performance offered by the Ref 7 series, I don't see how a more theater-like sound could be achieved... race does not exist. it is a concept invented by us to simplify our world. we like to categorize things, it makes it easier for us to handle/remember them. only natural we classified people too... only, like any other way of classifying, race has a big drawback: what are the criteria? do we use complexion, cranial patterns, hair color/style, or something else, or a mix, and what mix? not only that, but as HornEd mentioned, even if the concept of race was ever valid (which I doubt), it is becoming increasingly obsolete: we are mixing it up more than ever before, and soon there will be absolutely nothing to base discrimination on! I have to admit (because I hate lying to myself) that, having been socially conditioned by parents, friends, etc. I still react to race somewhat. I will surely notice when the person I'm talking to is yellow, black, or another color, while I have no reaction when confronted with a white person. I am, however, very proud in my reaction whenever somebody makes a racial slur or alludes to other "races" as being inferior. maybe I don't know what the hey I'm talking about, but I think I repeatedly stated enough times that it was my opinion. I listened to both, and for me there is no comparison, I like direct-radiating much more for modern home theater. I found myself preferring the WDST for prologic and even prologic II, as well as most DSPs, because those systems don't have discrete rear channels, they are only designed to give an additional enveloping feeling. like you, I believe both have their place, simply because some prefer one while others prefer the others. I also never said that WDST speakers were designed FOR prologic or before discrete formats arrived, when PL reigned master of its domain, I simply said that I THOUGHT they are more appropriate for that use. also, I know Dolby and DTS recommend full-range rears. that is why in an ideal world everyone would have ref towers in the back. You know, I'm really starting to wonder what it would cost for me to bring one over here... I will be expanding in a new much bigger space now, and I'm afraid the bass might not be sufficient. I need to add another DVD to my list... ...GODZILLA... not only is the sound quality positively amazing for a Dolby Digital soundtrack (I maintain that the best soundtracks I heard are dts), but the picture quality is there too, in a major way. but what really amazed me was the quality of the special effects, very rarely do you see cheap-looking FX in this movie. the story is entertaining, the action never stops, a real sleeper hit for me! I watched it a long time ago on a lowly VHS tape, it didn't have nearly the same impact, and I kept putting off watching it on DVD. well I bought it because the price was right, and let me tell you I didn't regret it! NOW we're talking... no more promedias! I also think that for this kind of room, you should go with the horn loaded stuff, preferrably Klipsch of course. Nothing better to recreate the theater experience at home. Go with Ref 7 all around, I heard that setup (2x RSW-15, RF-7, RC-7, RS-7), and let me tell you I almost wet my pants due to joy. We have a THX-certified theater close by, same kind of sound. I could've sworn I was at an upscale theater. IMO, nobody beats Klipsch for that feeling. Except of course some pro audio stuff like JBL! I also like M&K's philosophy of "same speakers all around"... With Klipsch, I would personally go with RF-7s, RC-7, then RF-3s for the surrounds and surround back. For the bass, SVS of course, no question here! Who is building this? A specialized comapny, or you and your dad type of deal? I would personally go with a set of direct-radiating speakers (i.e. RB-3s or other) and place them on the side, using the RS-3s in the rear, but philosophies will vary greatly. I will have a lot of room, and no "entertainment center" to put the center in, so no the ports aren't an issue. After analysing the costs, I think it really comes down to the RC-3II vs. the RC-7. I just bought the Terminator: Special Edition, and that's also the first thing I noticed.
