  1. Welcome back Jim. I was gone for awhile too, came back under another name. Still alot of nice people here(Jacksonbart, and others) and I also find some border line snobs, that no matter what your opinion is, what equipment you listen to, or who you listen to, your always wrong, and they know best. I shouldn''t lump everyone together like that, but that's how I feel. I guess in the end, the good folks win out, and let the snobs think they are always right. Hopefully you'll jump in and enjoy yourself again, Welcome Back.
  2. Very large pieces of dust. CUTE answer. Fingers cause that? I guess my question should be; Is there any way other than fingers, could cause that damage to the caps? Overpowering the speakers with a tube amp won't cause similar damage? I 'm asking because I notice alot of for sale speakers have that damage to passive radiators, and a few to the woofer. They say it doesn't hurt the sound, What do you think?
  3. It is cold up here;ROCK and ROLL:Led Zepplin from 4; there it is,My choice, of my favorite song to listen to on my Klipsch speakers.
  4. From that comment I am guessing you have never heard a properly cleaned LP. The ticks and pops come mostly from dirt, mold and static. You clean them once, if they are new or used, and unless you handle them like a lunk head they are dead quiet. When I started collecting records they were Mono. I owned vinyl for over 30 years. I know what a clean disc sounds like TIC,POP,POP. Handle them like a lunk head, Please. Don't even begin to lecture me about what you feel is best,Dead Quite, When's that, when they're in the Albumn cover? I guess, guess, guess,Tic, Tic,Pop,guess, You're right, right ,Pop,Tic, Pop!!!! Interesting as all of that is none of it implies automatically that you: 1. Know how to setup a TT, match an arm to a cartridge or even level a table. 2. Owned a decent, well matched setup. 3. Know how to clean a record - or actually know what a clean record sounds like (hint - just because it is new does not mean it is clean). 4. Know how to minimize static. 5. Know how to handle or treat a record. 6. Know how to store a record. In fact your response indicates very much the opposite of most of the above. Records VERY rarely stick - certainly less often IME than CD's corrupt. Yes - many records have tics and pops somewhere in the playing surface but many do not and of those that do we are often talking one or two per side - which may ruin the whole musial experience for some but not others. Ultimately - none of this is a lecture and you should not take it as one. This forum is about people attempting to explain their preferences. There are reasons as to why most of the really high end, no expense spared, systems out there incorporate a TT as their primary source - and it is not merely bragging rights however it may appear to a contented CD user. You like CD's - buy CD's - no problem for anyone. You want to share why - go right ahead but do not assume that your listening experiences are the same as those of others. What planet are you from? When I started collecting,Records, and turntables was all there was. You had NO CHOICE, turntables or AM radio. I stopped buying vinyl ealry 1990's, and when I made that choice, the quality of the LP was at rock bottom, and hard to find, unless you wanted to pay over $20. for high grade LP'S. I take issue with your six points because, I can answer YES to everyone. My original post was suppose to be a little humorous, but I guess you guys would rather pick it apart, and tell me to stay out of it,than see the humor in it. TIC,POP,POP,Your right, right, right ooops!
  5. I see you owned a turntable too. Forgot about the off center hole, hole, hole, good point. How about the poor quality control issues, warped, full of skips right out of the jacket, and poor sound quality. I stopped buying them at $7.98, got ripped off long enough. Don't you miss making tapes on your reel to reel, only to hear the tell tale RUMBLE. Your right I miss that, that, that, pop, tic, that.
  6. NO I'd rather soil yours!! It is a dumb question. Now that was a stupid reply, this is the general section of the forum and any dumb question is fine with me,I just choose to ignore it if I don't like the subject matter something you seem to need practice on. on to the subject at hand, today it is a Motown classic band, the first white band to sign to their lable(not a discriminatory statement...just a fact)RARE EARTH/EARTH TONES:THE ESSENTIAL RARE EARTH...these guys loved to get into percussion solos like for 15 min.The whole disc is 1 song. yes,its on repeat Greg You guys Kill me! If you don't agree with the subject you guys are talking about, don't join in? The Best of this, the Best of that, the Best of the Best, get a life. How can you pick a favorite tune(which most of you guys list 5,6,7 songs, not a favorite), out of probably thousands that you own, that sound best on Klipsch speakers? The only answer,as I see it, is Every song sounds best on Klipsch speakers. If you don't agree with my answer, in your words"ignore it". Don't tell me what forums I can join in on. I do have the right to voice MY opinion without being told to stay in my own litter box!!! Your Favorite or best is a matter of opinion, no facts or proof, to back it up, just a matter of YOUR opinion. Your entitled to yours, I'm entitled mine. Did I soil your box too!!!

  8. You did get a good deal, saving the shipping is great. Not everyone is going to get a pair of factory checked speakers, definately worth the extra cost. I bid on them too, but the final price(for me) of over $800.+ tax was to much for me. Good Luck you lucky dawg!!!
  9. TIC,TIC,POP, your your your probably right right, TIC,POP,right.
  10. From the Stones;"Make Everysong you sing your Favorite Tune", ANY song sounds better on KLIPSCH, what a dumb question!
  11. I have purchased many DVD's and CD's from Amazon, all new, and always recieve top quality, and service. Most of the time, if you spend more than $25.(that's easy) FREE shipping. You can't beat that with a stick. Great stock, many items you won't find in the stores. Many cd's that aren't available elsewhere Eric Burdon, Electric Flag, try to find those at Best Buy. If it's on DVD they have it, customer reviews, and many at a discount. Give it a try, You'll like it. I would much rather buy a concert DVD, than a cd, and they have a great selection of DVD's. No Scammers like E-spay!!
  12. Let me go on RECORD: The STONES are better than the Beatles:The STONES are better than the Beatles: The STONES are better than the Beatles, OOOPS; sorry the record skips.
  13. Man you need to get out of that cold Vermont air, it's freezing your brain. That is alot of money for speakers that most of you guys will say "needs a subwoofer". There are two reasons why people buy used, they cannot afford to buy new, or they are looking for a deal. You didn't look for a deal when you got all that fine equipment you have, I can't believe it was all new? You told me about AudioClassics, they have a set of used heresys, tested, and ready to go, told me they would take $550. Those speakers Klipsch got $660 for are plus $110. shipping, plus tax on top of that. That bill is over $800. for REFURBISHED, AudioClassic H2,s new $1200.cash and carry. You tell me what's the better deal.Don't call people CHEAP because they want the best deal.
  14. I also let vinyl horse escape. Vinyl is a pain in the butt,to short, to noisey, and I am to old to play Disc Jockey. You pay top dollar for an albumn that is warped, won't track, and everytime you play it, you are wearing it down, no matter how light you set the tracking pressure. You will never prove to me that LP's sound better than CD's. In my younger days I had hundreds of LP's untill I bought a CD player, and the Led Zeppelin box set, GOODBYE LP's. No tics, No pops, just Music the way it should be, and was intended to be. Don't you hate it when an Lp skips, or better yet taking back a warped record only to get another record, and it's warped too? I have many friends that just love vinyl, and I know I'll get beat up on this forum about it, because I don't. It's all about choice, and if vinyl happens to be yours, Rock on brothers, and every time your record skips, tics ,or pops, think kindly of me.
  15. Randy Rhoades was a great guitarist, BUT don't compare him to SVR. Derek Trucks, PLEAZE bring back Dickie Betts. Derek Trucks couldn't tune his guitar. Zak Wylde has done fine by Ozzie.
  16. Samsung didn't make my Panasonic Flat Screen. My point on the receivers was, they basically sound the same if they're SS. The only difference is in the power. SS sounds one way, Tubes sound another, and that's the choice, which sound is more pleasing to you, SS or Tubes. I own a SS Sony, and I am happy with it, but I also have heard Mac's, and Scott tubes that also sounded great. You Know, maybe it's the Klipsch speakers that count most, and the power unit is not as important.
  17. Seems like no matter what you do, there is always going to be "the next big thing". You wait, you study, you ask advice, you Buy, and lo and behold six months later it's obselete. It's called BUSINESS!!
  18. With prices the way they are, and climbing higher, maybe it is time to bite the bullet, and buy new. Atleast you wouldn't be paying thousands of dollars for USED speakers 20, 25, even 30 years old, that of course are in "perfect shape".Before you guys jump on me, there are people out there that DO, have beautiful speakers, have seen many "to die for" on this forum, so the're out there. It's sort of like gasoline, we all ***** about the price, but in the end we buy it. I am searching for a speaker purchase, but will take my time. I don't want buy something because it's less expensive,(sounds better than cheaper). You almost have to try to buy locally because shipping would kill you on any big units Klipschorns, and La Scala's.Heresys, Cornwalls, those prices are driving up the price on the big units. Older Cornwalls were under priced, and have adjusted, but Heresy's are overpriced, and continue to climb. Just my two cents, for what it's worth.
  19. DELBERT McCLINTON; DELBERT McCLINTON; any albumn, anytime!!!! Live, Cost of living, Fortunate Few, any DELBERT McCLINTON disc is a bonus to your collection. WHY THE DOUBLE POST? Is it something I'm doing wrong??
  20. DELBERT McCLINTON; DELBERT McCLINTON; any albumn, anytime!!!! Live, Cost of living, Fortunate Few, any DELBERT McCLINTON disc is a bonus to your collection.
  21. Sony, Sansui,Harmon Kardon, Pioneer, Yamaha; they are all the is the same, just a different name. It comes down to SS vs Tubes, that is the real choice. Which is best? It's up to the buyer. Now that I think about it, I miss my Kenwood intergrated Amp, should never have sold it. PS: I always wanted Macintosh Equipment,(now owned by Marantz) but, can't afford it.
