  1. Ok guys this is what I have learned, the 6J5 GT tube is exactly one half of the 6SN7. So you will need adapters that go from two 6J5 GT's to one 6SN7 tube. The adapters can be found on ebay for around $50 for a pair. These tubes are the most linear octal tube out there period, if you know anything about tubes the more linear the better the sound quality. I have been using these tubes for about two months now prior to that I was using the 6F8G tubes which are identical to the 6SN7 but have a different pinout so an adapter is needed. I got tired of paying the unreal prices for vintage NOS 6SN7 tubes. I tried the 6F8G tubes at the request of a friend and never looked back, they are better than the 6SN7 in every way. Now back to the 6J5 GT's these are way better than anything I have ever tried before and I have tried a lot of them!!! These tubes are so linear it will take you a bit to get use to them but, they do sound a lot better than any 6SN7 I ever heard!!! Also they are easy to find and dirt cheap!!! Now here is the only bad news!!! You will have to go through a few of them to get a matched pair or quad because they are very microphonic!!! Other than that they are simply awesome!!! It is well worth the effort to try and find some that work!!! If anyone is planning on trying them PM me and I can tell you which ones sound like what....
  2. Anyone here using these tubes in their systems? If so and you are interested in a huge improvement in sound quality just reply.
  3. We have been doing this for a while now even though my two different systems are in different rooms. We use the HT system for all our TV needs...
  4. I get the same as Chris only difference I am using the Ethernet Cable....
  5. Hey Chris, Thanks for your thoughts on my question, what you say does make sense. I was thinking that more Khorns are probably sold than Jub's and that's why I asked the question but, to your point I agree...
  6. No that's not what I meant, What I was asking about is why hasn't Roy or someone else done with Khorns what he and Cory are doing with Jub's now?
  7. Maybe I am missing something here but, I wonder why Roy or anyone else hasn't done this for the Khorn!!!
  8. I would not be so sure about that Schu!!!
  9. Well so far it has been the pre amp by all even on other forums...
  10. I have some new tubes coming and wondered what most think about where to install them, in the amp or pre-amp? In which do you feel will have the most sound quality benefit? The tubes in the amp are used as drivers, and the tubes in the pre-amp are in the line stage.
  11. If you are reading this you already know what it is and what it does and how much it cost new!!! With that said I am selling mine because I no longer have a deck for it, I used it with my Studer A810 the one UPS destroyed and then lost!!! So I have no more need of it, it is in perfect condition and has premium tubes in it.$2100.00 plus shipping... I am also gonna be listing for sale everything that I have for my 810, hubs etc...I see Bottlehead has lowered the price of this unit to $3600, so I am lowering my price the same to $2100....SOLD SOLD SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Just to add what Chris said, I am pretty sure the human hears along a similar line of the 1/3 smoothing.
  13. Anyone interested in reviving this old thread and swapping tapes?
  14. Ok guys according to the booklet that came with the center and surrounds, it suggest a minimum of 150hz???
  15. I know this will probably be a try as you go thing but, what has everyone else tried for xover points? I am using the RP 450C and the RP 250S speakers.
  16. Well to late now I already have the center 450c and the 250s surrounds, so I will have to work with them.
  17. Even with the titanium tweeters you think there will be a mis match?
  18. Well afer much debate I ordered the RP450C and 250S surrounds.
  19. I ordered the RP 450C with the RP250S surrounds.

  21. Ok guys I am using Forte II's as main in a 5.1 setup, time to upgrade. Which center will work good with the forte's? Also which wall mounted surrounds will work good with the Forte's? Room is small 14x13x8... The surrounds have to be wall mounted I have no room for any other option...
  22. Well Carl, To be honest with you sometimes I go 8 months or more without ever turning mine on!!! My TT setup is killer and my Master Tapes on reels are even better, so my CDP rarely gets used....
  23. So after reading this I am guessing the with my Forte II's the academy is the best matched center??? I am looking to buy a new center now...
  24. Yes Carl, It is Ah Njoe Tjoeb 4000
