  1. STOPSTOPSTOPSTOPSTOPSTOPSTOP!!! You're making me want a pair of Klipschhorns. Hmmmpfh. I'll just stick to my KSF 10.5's for now. I don't think my wife will let me make another large purchase for the HT and/or future 2 ch. for a while. And all this talk isn't making the wait any easier. I've been doing some reading about tube amps too. I think I'm going to stop because all this reading is going to end up costing me a lot of money. Ok I'm leaving for a bit.
  2. If any of you are into classical piano music you've probably heard of Vladimir Horowitz. I recently obtained his "Complete Masterworks Recordings, 1962-1973" set. It's 13 volumes of pure bliss. I have yet to hear a pianist with a more masterful touch than Vladimir. His renditions of Rachmaninoff's works are inimitable. Mostly because he was a good friend of Rachmaninoffs. They knew each other very well. Rachmaninoff even gave Horowitz "artistic license" of the Piano Concerto No. 3 by Rachmaninoff. He even said Horowitz played his Piano Concerto No. 2 better than he! Keep in mind that during these concerts Horowitz was in his 60's. I don't know many pianists that can play as well as he does at his age. The recordings are not perfect, he makes mistakes, but it's the most emotionally rich piano playing I have ever heard. No two renditions are the same. I love it.
  3. or a "Klipsch-o-copia" So what are these yellow BS buttons I keep seeing around? Somebody fill me in please.
  4. Sounds like a good catch. Too bad I'm not really interested in LP's at the moment. I don't even have a turntable. Oh well.
  5. Firstly, welcome to the forums! I started a thread about this some time ago. Give it a read in your spare time. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/686446.aspx Also, a forum member is selling two Earthquake SuperNova MKIV-10 subwoofers and maybe he can chime in and tell you how they would work for their room. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/726203.aspx (I don't know how to make those URL's links. Just copy and paste in a new window.) Good luck!! EDIT: figured out links
  6. I'm sure most of us had a humble beginning. Before I snatched some KSF 10.5's for $70 at a pawn shop, all I had was the Promedia 4.1 on my computer and the GMX 5.1 for the HT! Welcome aboard and prepare to be infected with the upgrade bug.
  7. You realize that there would only be a compression horn on the top of each cabinet because the "100000" given the naming convention would indicate "0000" (or zero) "10" inch drivers. It's like multiplying things by zero. You still get zero no matter how big the number. Correctly it should be "RF- 101000" or something. BUT, I would like to see something like what we are talking about. A set of RF 103's would be thrilling.
  8. I think it's fantastic that Klipsch runs their own forum where you can actually talk to the factory workers and make suggestions. If I remember right, the Promedia Ultra 2.0 started out as a request or suggestion from forum members. This may not be the case, but it shows that customers play a part in product development. I don't know of many companies that do that. I also like the idea of "trading in" your old speakers for new ones and all you pay is the difference. I'd like to trade mine in for some reference or heritage series.
  9. I've thought about adding one of the M-Audio Revolution cards to my G5. Can you elaborate on it's performance compared to the stock sound card? I run the Promedia 4.1 system and I'm looking for better sound. I'll look for your post in the Promedia section.

Those lights are status lights on the front of the subs that have been blurred by the camera's slow shutter speed. Nothing abnormal here.

You realize he was quoting $400-500 a month in Canadian currency. That only equals to about $120 in US. It also costs more to pipe electricity through frozen wires than thawed. :-) (I hope you all realize I'm kidding. I lived in Canada for a while and I loved it even though I'm from the desert. And my electric bill is only like $85.) The Canadian dollar is worth 1.10: 400cd = 363usd. That was a joke.
  12. Woah woah; if you're from behind Zion, then I'm must be at the footstep. I didn't know there were MORE UTAHNS HERE!! Oh, congratulations Tony & Trey! It's good to here good things going on for all of you. I'm excited to see what's next.

WOW! My left eye exploded from sensory overload when I saw that picture! I haven't seen it before and I'm glad I just did. It's enough for me to elicit lucid assertments of felicitous jocundity. WhEEEEEEE!!!1
  16. Wow. That took a while to get a response. Luckily, mine arrived yesterday. I went from a lousy Sony sub (maybe an 8" or two inside) to no sub (sold the Sony) to the F-1500R. The same day the sub arrived I bought an SPL meter and calibrated my system (except the sub; I don't have a test disk). The difference is phenominal. Not only because the speakers now blend seamlessly with each other, but the bass output I gained from actually having a subwoofer (a servo controlled one no less) made all the difference in the world. It's like I have a new system! I think I will be very happy with this sub. Now I wish I didn't live in an apartment complex so I could test the real output capabilites. My main speakers are Klipsch KSF 10.5 w/ KSF C5 center generic sony surrounds and a Harman/Kardon AVR 135. I think it will keep up ;-) I played a 40hz test tone at moderate volume and it literally made the room shake. You should hear what it does with organ music.
  17. Brad Mehldau, Largo, CD, Jazz. I like this album because the Brad Mehldau trio really does something different for jazz, especially in this album. In one song Brad puts putty on the bass strings of the piano to give it an interesting effect. Clean recordings and catchy music. Here's a link in case you're interested. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000068WXL/sr=8-4/qid=1146606134/ref=pd_bbs_4/102-8853811-4620924?%5Fencoding=UTF8
  18. "Tell Laura I Love Her" by Dickey Lee. Guy enters a stock car race so he can buy an engagement ring, ends up dying. Yeah. It's pretty sappy. I don't remember who sings the version I have, but GOOD GRIEF! SOMEBODY SHOOT THE MAN!!
  19. MacArthur Park by Richard Harris. "Someone left the cake out in the rain I don't think that I can take it 'Cause it took so long to bake it And I'll never have that recipe again Oh, no! " Ahhh; it's so...horrible... http://www.songfacts.com/lyrics.php?findsong=1875
  20. I'm considering purchasing one, but I'm not familiar with Velodynes offerings. I know how the servo control works, but I'm wondering how they perform. Any help is appreciated. The subs I've been looking at are as follows: RW12, SVS 16-46+, sub-12, PB12-ISD/V and PB10-ISD.
  21. Due to price, I've never considered a Velodyne sub. Now that I'm interested in this one, could those who know chime in and tell me how the F-1500R compares to what I've been looking at? [RW12, SVS 16-46+, sub-12, PB12-ISD/V, PB10-ISD to name most of them]. I listen to organ music, classical, jazz blah blah blah... I'll update my system profile if that will help.
  22. Are the RF-83's shielded? If not, be nice and let him set his iPod on top for a little while ;-) (no, I don't know how to do the smiley faces and stuff)
  23. I'd consider buying if you'd consider shipping to So. Utah. Tomorrow I'm going to go demo an RW12 (never heard one), but this servo 15 would be about the same price. Hmmm.
  24. "As a general rule I would look at spending no less on the subwoofer than you spent for your mains." Oh no. I bought my KSF 10.5's for $70. I'm going to need a recommendation for a subwoofer capable of 16hz for less than $80. :-)
