  1. Boxx, thanks for the info on Band of Gypsys live album Rivernuggets, thanks for another vote for the Blues album. Johnlw7, thanks for yet another vote for the Blues album. Looks like I have to get the "Blues" album if any other... Thanks everyone for the feedback and help... James
  2. You can even do the same thing just highlight the word first and add the link the same way. Here James

  4. That is the best thing, if it sounds good to you then it's good. I would stick with your current Sony receiver until you either you get the upgrade bug or you need to upgrade it. With only running 2 speakers you should be fine and most listening levels. As mentioned if you do turn it up and start getting distortion just turn it down a little. In the end you have to watch and listen to the system, if something doesn't sound right then you look to change it. James
  5. Welcome to the forum.. A few questions, does your current receiver have all the connections that you need? What is your budget? Asking about your current receiver cause if it has all the connections you need then you can just keep that and plan on getting the speakers only. Yes, a receiver is an amp and preamp all in one. getting separates helps the preamp do just the video switching and lets the amp handle just the power. A few people have said that certain 5.1 receivers don't sound good for 2 channel, you might be able to do a search on that. Some do run a 2-channel system and use the same speakers for 5.1 HT so it can be done. Are you just looking at the Forte or Quartet for the size? James
  6. No problem, we are here to help, everyone had to start somewhere and asking questions is the best thing to do. Also post some pictures when you get everything setup. James
  7. Yes, MonoPrice is a great place to deal with. All but one of my systems are connected using their wires. Can't wait to see what your outcome is with the connections. James
  8. Here is my 2 seater option. James
  9. Well since this thread was started with a new production car here is my, just a 4 door family car. James
  10. Fist off, Welcome to the forum........ So did you set it up and try this to see what happens.... If it didn't work then you would have to look into a audio/video switch box similar to this but it also depends on what type of connections you need, like this. James
  11. Wow, that is weird that they include the removable stand but they don't give you just the speaker size. It would be important for the center channel speaker, since it's the same speaker just without the base. That would be a good question for Klipsch support. 12. BS, I don't know how the provided wall mount is for that speaker but would this work, Omni Mount AB2. Take a look at the manual, under the download tab, to see that it can be mounted then rotated and angled. I just know know if the XB 10 can fasten to it. James
  13. Welcome to the forum.... I don't have those speakers so a few questions to help us help you find something you like. Do those speakers have a way to mount them, threaded insert or keyhole? How much are you looking to spend on the stands? Do you want adjustable or fixed stands? James
  14. I've been a happy BB user on AT&T for 2 years. I'm going to get another BB in the next few weeks for the upgrade. James
  15. Art, Thanks for the heads up on the "Blues" album, I will have to check that one out. Russ, So are you saying to look for clean originals of all those? I do have a few cd's from him but nothing on vinyl and that is always a different experience, then I noticed the new pressings coming out and had me thinking about picking some up. James
  16. JL, I know what you mean about a casual listener, that's me for sure. Only problem is where other then the Bay to find the albums and hope they are clean as they say. I know to check out the feedback on the sellers but with shipping and everything added up would it only be a few bucks saved? for that I would just opt for a new pressing that if someone is going to scratch up it's going to be me.... [] Pete, I guess my problem is that I like his music no matter what. I just didn't know if one recording is better then another and if so which one to get. Looking for that vinyl that you mentioned, Cry of Love, I only found it on the Bay... Gary, thanks for the heads up on those albums. How is everything going? Islander, I seen that new album and I'm picking that one up but decided if I'm placing an order I should look to see about these new pressings. Thanks for the feedback.... James
  17. Looking at getting some albums from Jimi and was wondering about the new pressing that are coming out. Would these be better then the originals and worth getting over used originals? Also which ones to get? Thanks for any feedback. James
  18. Trey, Wow, everything so far sounds great... Don't know what else could push it over the edge.... Will the list of hotels be posted in this thread or a different one, or are we on our own to find local/semi-local ones? James
  19. Welcome to the forum. Which 5.1 setup do you currently have? Yes, you receiver does have 7.1 so you can either use the new speakers as the 6th and 7th channel or your current main speakers. It really comes down to what you currently have and what your able to move around, depends on your room layout. James
  20. Richard, how did you know my gf was there dancing? [] James good thing she doesn't read any of this....
  21. If your current Yamaha is doing everything you need then you are good to go. Now if you want more power for your speakers, the RF-7 like more power, then you can look at external amps. I do believe the receiver has pre-outs on the back to connect an external amp. James
  22. Typically you wouldn't purchase a pre to run back into a receiver as an amp. If you like how your Yamaha preforms then I would suggest you look at just getting a Emotiva amp to run your speakers and use your receiver as the pre. You can either go with a XPA-5, to run all your speakers with one amp, or the combination of a XPA-3 and XPA-2. If you go the two amp route and can't purchase them at the same time then look at getting the XPA-3 first and run your front three speakers, RF7 and RC-64, off of it. Then later you can get the XPA-2 and switch the RF-7 to that and the center and rear speakers to the XPA-3. James
  23. You do have to remember that these speakers have a veneer on them. Any "light" adhesive will no-doubt pull the veneer off, if/when they need to be moved, then again it's only going to be on the bottom so if you or more important your dad doesn't have a problem with it then go ahead. A buddy had speaker stands that clamped on the sides of the speakers. This would only help in a light bump and anything other then that the entire speaker and stand would fall over. Any chance to move to speaker up against the wall when not being used, so it's more out of the way? I know this will become a headache but it can really save the speaker from any mishaps. Can you post a picture of the area in question to see if something else might work? James
