  1. While touring the battlegrounds of Antetiem (also know as Sharpsburg to the CSA) its easy to see who won the day. The monuments to the northern troops are impressive granite or marble structures reaching upward towards the heavens and are everywhere, most confederate monuments are small brass panels on short granite pillars and are few in number. Its still an erie feeling to be walking the grounds near sunset and know of the terrible carnage wrought there. Its crazy but here after 140 years we are still debating the issue of seperation, was it right or was it wrong? Yanks say it was wrong, Rebs say it was their right! What kind of a nation would we be today if the southern states had successfully seperated from the union? The Northern United States of America and the Confederate States of America, somehow just don't sound right, doe it? Its a shame that part of our nation still runs around with decals of the Stars and Bars and claim that the South is gonna do it again!
  2. TBrennan, 101-0156_IMG1.JPG I wish I knew that you were in the area. I live about 15 miles from Antetiem. Did you go up the observation tower while you were there? Did you go to Burnside bridge? Please let me know if you're ever back in the area... Jim
  3. The Ideal room size is based on the Golden Means Ratio (GMR). Size should be approx 26X16X10. Kornerhorns should be on the long wall. Ideally you would have a Belle or La Scalla as the center channel. You can go the the Architectural and home theater postings and see a lot of info there on rooms for the Khorns. Artto has posted a score if not more postings on his room. I have heard that it is near ideal for the Kings.....
  4. The unit looks like the one I saw at Custom Audio on Rodney Parham Blvd in Little Rock. Around 1990-91.
  5. HDBR addressed this issue in the other post too. Foam along the wall would be like putting foam on one side of the horn. Not a good idea!
  6. I've got a spare B type crossover, K55V, a K500 horn and a K77. They are in a Birch Cornwall. Cabinet has seen better days. I'm going to use one set of innards to make a center myself to go with a pair of walnut Corns.
  7. Chuckears, I did check, the Forte,Forte II, Chorus, Chorus II and Quartet are not considered Heritage speakers. Even though some would like to thinks so....
  8. Damonrpayne, If you put Forte II's in your all Heritage system it will cease to be an all Heritage system. The Forte I & II are not of the Heritage line. Sorry to burst your bubble.
  9. Actually, Andy's handle is: HDBR Hersey Birch Raw Decorator He worked primarily on the HDBR models but did have his hands on most other models too. I believe Andy was primarily involved in the construction of the enclosures instead of final assembley.
  10. Al, Since you are a master of X-overs for Klipsch Heritage speakers may I ask a few questions? I have a pair of Khorns with the AK-3 X-over and a Belle center with an AB X-over. What X-over should I put in the Belle to better match the Khorns? An ALK one? If I were to Mod my Belle with a K-401 horn would an AK-3 X-over work well for the Belle? I'd have a spare K-500 I could then contribute... Just curious! Thanks
  11. Moretite is rope caulk!!! Moretite is just a name brand that has been mentioned on this site a lot.
  12. Thanks John! Do you have your mids treated this way??? I noticed in your sig that you have two of the VMPS Larger Subwoofers. Are two necessary to keep up with the La Scalas? From what I remember, they have a 12" and a 15" active and a 15" passive, output from one is rated at 115 or 120 db isn't it?
  13. They will sound best if located on the long wall. Honest!
  14. I know that dampening the cast metal horns has been covered quite a bit but trying to find it using the search function is, well, difficult. I have a pair of Cornwalls(circa 1980), and have purchased a couple of packages of moretite (I remember that much) that I want to apply to the mid horns this evening. How many layers of Moretite should I apply to the K-600?, and should it be for the entire length of the horn?, should the rope caulk be applied around the horn or down its length? What's the experience of those that have done this, if you would please. Thanks!!!
  15. Buy an Academy, it's the center match for the Forte II. If you can wait just a little bit there may be some come up on E-bay. Sometimes their very expensive but at times there are several up for auction at the same time and the prices aren't so high.
  16. Q-Man sez: "Once you go black there is no going back" I've heard that before but it wasn't related to painting..... No personal experience in that field.....
  17. The Forte is not a "Heritage" speaker... A lot of folks believe that the Chorus I & II, Forte I & II and Quartet are "Heritage" but they aren't. The Klipschorn, Belle, La Scalla, Herasey, Cornwall, Shorthorn, Rebel are the real "Heritage" line. The ones that PWK himself designed. I think HDBR could give us a full accounting...
  18. Well, I'm glad no one is dissin' the Scots. Don't know who the Scotch are?, maybe a tribe in Texas that Dubya belongs to?
  19. J.W., What are the dimensions of your listening room?
  20. I think that you're probally asking a bit much of the Forte's. They are great speakers got a pair of the II's myself. I think that the $50.00 price tag for the speakers you have now has probally got you spoiled. The Audio Gods smiled on you when you bought them for the $50., but they don't always bless you that way. Actually, it's like dope, bought the first hit cheap, now you're hooked... If you want to keep the sound signature you have now then you need another set(s) of Forte's, the RF's won't blend in well. Or you could sell the Forte's for a profit and get a pair of Cornwalls, they have a greater level of output and they sound very good.
  21. So, We have speaker wire that cost $1.000 a foot running from a top dollar amp (Tube or SS) to a Klipsch Heritage pre 90's model (Khorn, La Scala, Belle, Cornwall, Hersey), we attach this expensive wire to ? a set of steel screw terminals on the back which leads to plain old wire that runs to the crossover and from the crossover to the drivers. So if there could be a measurable difference in the signal running over the expensive cable wouldn't it be for naught once it hits the terminal block? Well, I guess we'll all have to wait to get the definitive answer, PWK and Julian Hersch now know for sure!!!
  22. Right on the money Andy... I have a brtother in law who won't or maybe can't see what is happening, probally because he is more concerned with his executive perks and paycheck than to worry about the "Little Guy" who helped him get to where he is at. If things keep up at the pace they are running now, who in America (except the upper executive levels) will be able to afford the products that corporate America wants to sell in this country? It's all about the bottom line, If execs can increase their corporations bottom line by going off shore they will continue to do it, so they can increase their own bottom line.
  23. Frznvt, The risers for the Cornwall are 2", risers for the Hersey are 1".
