  1. Speak for yourself, dude. You may think he's painting you as ignorant, but I don't feel offended. lol, were you even in the conversation? Why would you be offended?
  2. comes with everything and stays charged for a long time - one of the things I really like about it. comes with dock , battery, and all software/cables.
  3. I am glad to see people enjoying these fostex drivers. I remember getting flamed for my admiration for Ed Schilling's Hornshoppe Horn using the 126. I haven't heard the Tekton speaker but the speakers I had were very enjoyable. I really wish I hadn't sold them but will be building a similar design in the next few weeks.
  4. Well, there you go. Sounds like a plan to me. Those CF-4s are beasts. A sweet pair just showed up on my local craigslist for $600. What is a good price for them?
  5. Sweet offer - I like to see interesting trades offered. Unfortunately, I don't have much to trade. Your post reminded me of a time many years ago when my jet ski broke down *way* too far away from my buddy's lake house. Good luck with a deal.
  6. Check out Logitech Harmony 880. I have one and love it. Smart design and easy to use. It's not super sophisticated with learning capabilities but does an admirable job in easily controlling 6 HT components in my system. It's also under your budget. Retails for $250 but you can pick one up for $175 or so. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/detailsharmony/US/EN,CRID=2084,CONTENTID=9933&ad=AMR_H880HPB
  7. lol, nothing shakes fritz MAS, you better try a little harder to be insulting to him than you do everyone else.
  8. Tenzip, Thanks for the encouragement - I need it!! I emailed the guy at the site and they do offer tech support and the parts come with step by step instructions and everything required to do the repair. I'll keep you posted.
  9. Just wondering. You said Sony sucks and is crap, hence my question. I've got working Sony TV's that are 16 years old, 13 years old, and just got rid of a 12+ year old Sony XBR RP that finally gave problems. I've been happy with them, but past performance does not ensure future results. I hope your gamble pays off for you. Keith Thanks Keith - I hope so too. I hope everyone else with Sony TVs has better luck. My disappointment with an expensive, broken TV turned to being a real red a$$ when I found that mine is *far* from an isolated incident. Hopefully, I can install the kit. After I ordered it, I looked at another page on the site that described this DIY repair as "not for the faint of heart". Uh-oh. Buying a new TV will cost me many rounds of golf this spring and put a serious dent in my fun money.
  10. If you read my posts, I said it was a great tv when working. I said the board is crap and that alot of people have had issues with it. If I repair it, it may last another ten years, maybe not. It's worth a $77 gamble but not a $400 gamble. Can you let a brother vent a little?
  11. I had a pair of the basic SE-100s. I found them to be great little amps. They run hot as do all Class A SS amps that I've had experience with.
  12. Don't get me wrong, it's a killer set when working. I hope your uncle has good luck with it. I just ordered the repair kit for 77 bucks. Let's see if I can do this. Smells like trouble.
  13. I *know* the NAD will but it's the only receiver I have experience with although I used big brother 7600. Never been a Yammy guy, but it's just personal preference.
  14. Chris, that is just unreal. I'm really disappointed but I since bought a Panny projector for my attic so I still have my HD fix. The kids aren't too happy with no Spongebob but we'll get them fixed up soon. The warrany on some of the high end Sony's is, get this, 90 days Parts/Labor and 1 year parts only. This on a product with a minimum 10 year product cycle, One guy had his break after 102 days and Sony refused to warranty the work. I have decided that I am going to buy the $80 repair kit. If it doesn't work - it's trashed. I'm not putting $350 into a thousand dollar tv with issues. Can't do it.
  15. Tell dad to buy this NAD 7400 receiver. Phono input and gobs of clean power with headroom out the A$$. http://cgi.ebay.com/NAD-7400-Monitor-Series-Stereo-Receiver-100w-ch_W0QQitemZ260092546100QQihZ016QQcategoryZ3279QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I have owned many of NAD's monitor series components and they are a GREAT bang for the buck. If he has to have a new unit, I would seriously consider this sweetie from Denon. Unit is a tank with Phono AND an Ipod dock for $600 Do a search on Denon DRA-697CI.
  16. Here is the good Q & A Q: Hi, could you please tell me how these will be packaged? Thanks. Mar-05-07 A: Hello, First our packaging specialist will don white cotton gloves. He will then wipe all surfaces with lambs wool to remove minute traces of dust. The speakers will be carefully placed in plastic bags, lovingly sealed, and then wrapped in large bubble wrap for an extra comfy journey. With great care the entire wrapped speaker will be surrounded by custom cut rigid foam for durability and that certain something you can only get from using rigid foam, The final step in packaging is for our entire organization to gather around the shipping area, light some candles and chant a mantra as the speakers are lowered into extra heavy duty double walled boxes. As the boxes are sealed a hush falls over the crowd. The final piece of tape causes the entire group to form a candle light single file mini parade out to the loading dock where a custom built Mercedes van awaits the reception of the speakers. The loading of the speakers will cause a great cacophony of cheers from the crowd who will wave and hoot as the Mercedes van pulls away and slowly shrinks off in the distance. The van will carefully navigate the journey to the airport, purposely going out of its way to avoid potholes. Once the van arrives at the airport a second team springs into action. The speakers are removed from the van. The paper work is approved by the local authorities and then the speakers are loaded onto a waiting private jet. A color guard plays as the jet taxis down the runway. Again great cheers erupt from the gathered crowd. I'm not sure what happens next but somehow they get to you. Regards Tom
  17. Well, my first HDTV just bit it this past weekend prematurely after a vey short 3 years. I bought my 220 lb boat anchor when HDTVs came down in price where regular guys could afford them. Paid just under $1,800. Sony KV-34HS510 won't power up and the diagnostic light blinks 7 times. I did some research on agoraquest.com which is a non-official Sony site. Alot of great helpful people there actually. I went to the Television>Troubleshooting forum and was floored by the number of people with broken Sony Wega HDTVs. The thread I posted to had a few guys absolutely convinced that Sony knowingly shipped TVs with QC issues. It is always the 'D Board' whatever that means. I found out that the fix will cost between $325 and $400. A new one is now $1K. There is the dilemma - do I sink four bills into a thousand dollar TV or buy a new one? Here is the real beauty. Sony is completely out of stock on the D Board for this TV. If I want it fixed, I need to have the repair company charge me $90 to pick up the TV and diagnose the problem, which I did in an hour last night. Then, they quote me to fix it (probably $350 to $400) and keep the $90 if I choose not to repair. If I do choose to have it fixed, the repair company will send the bunk part to Sony to fix and apply the $90 to the repair. Basically a month to get my TV operable. I have no problem with the repair company - they need to make money obviously. Sweet, huh? The irony of the situation is when I shopped the TVs 3 years ago, I decided to get the Sony over Philips, Panny, and others because I thought the Wega was a higher quality product. I am seriously considering ordering an afermarker repair kit and trying to do it myself for 80 bucks. http://www.fixyourowntv.com/orderpage.php Thanks for listening to me whine.
  18. Never heard a pair of the CF-2, but you will love the Forte II with the Decware amp. That combo is a sure winner.
  19. Can someone please allow him to get some more cowbell? It only seems right to me. Good luck BS.
  20. You are absolutely right. If I see another one of his ads on my local Craigslist lowballing my town, I'm gonna freak. [8o|]
  21. Sweet work indeed. I now absolutely must have a pair of zebrawood decorator heresys.
  22. It may well be a scam. An email to the seller regarding an audition or inspection may tell you all you need to know. I don't see anything suspicious other than the low feedback. At one point every one of us had a feedback rating of 1 althought that is a high ticket item. No $200 international shipping or a special email BIN. Sweet speakers though.
  23. Got mine today as well. Thanks for the nice deal and quick shipping - very cool.
  24. Hey Budman, You are officially a cool dad. Let your kids stay until their mid-20's and send them off with fully horn-loaded speakers. Nice!
