  1. Jorden, This really sucks and honestly doesn't sound good. I can totally feel your pain. I got scammed on a Mac amp a couple of years ago for 1500. At that point, I had literally hundreds of great internet transactions. I let my guard down for a minute and got smacked in the nose. The most painful thing is that I had his address and all documentation and nobody would lift a finger - not as much as a single phone call or visit. Your best bet will be with the postmaster. Good luck.
  2. I was taught that it was all about a nickle or a dime off the dollar, therefore trying to get 5 to 10% off every dollar is Nickle and Diming. You went for $50 of the $600 tag. Fits right in there. But that's just to directly answer your question. I really don't think it matters whether you were K&Ding him or not. The bottom line is, you got NOTHING out of the deal. You ripped your self off by trying to save a few bucks on what was already a very attractively priced set of Cornwalls. I could see it if the item you want was overpriced, but $600 Cornwall !!s looking like that, and right in your neighbor hood? I would be kicking my self rather than pointing the finger at someone else for my error in judgment. It will be a total waste UNLESS you can take a lesson from it. It's a great lesson, it will serve you well over a lifetime. Good luck and stay well ~Noah This is an audio site, please try to be less condescending, dad.
  3. KLF-30s are about as good a speaker for rock music as you'll ever hope to find. I say keep 'em. [Y]
  4. After I read your earlier reply, I decided to email him as well to see what is up and if they had sold. I already have too much stuff already so I'll let you know if I get a reply.
  5. The funny thing is that they are worth about $600. Cornwalls haven't been bringing much the past 6 months or so.
  6. They look very nice. Original Owner. http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ele/373662759.html
  7. I agree. Excellent article on how the Beatles changed that year and the making of Sgt. Peppers album.
  8. Good stuff. Maynard is a piece of work. Odd dude with a killer voice. There are a bunch of great bands going right now. In addition to Tool and Perfect Circle some of my favorites include White Stripes, Kings of Leon, Queens of the Stone Age, Spoon, Moe., Wilco, Arcade Fire, Flaming Lips, etc.
  9. Not mine and on Raleigh Craigslist http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ele/368809629.html
  10. That sub is a really pretty bugger. Speakerlab has always made some nice value products even if not a;ways original designs.
  11. I'm in Raleigh and saw the ad on Craigslist. It got flagged and is gone now.
  12. Hi, Good call on the Almarro amp. A budget and actual room size would be helpful. If bass response truly isn't a priority, you are on the right track with La Scalas. Heresys would fit the bill on a smaller budget. Fortes are excellent speakers as well but are a little more difficult to place in my experience. When placed correctly, they are phenomenal speakers, probably the best available for the money. Good luck.
  13. Yeah - That's right you big sissy. AND I'm gonna take your girlfriend to prom. Anarchist - Let's meet after homeroom and talk about jumping craig after school. YEESH!! It's pretty obvious from Coyotee's last post that this thread was total BS to get a rise outta Craig, but come on fellas...this is getting sad. Agreed. It was pretty obvious from the first post. This is even more ridiculous than Coyote's constant recommendations for Jubs for people on a $500 budget in a 12x12 room.
  14. Brasky to the rescue! "His poop is considered currency in Argentina." LOL I'm going to check out that Olive for sure. Here are my personal favorites: "If you drop a phonograph needle on Brasky's nipple, it plays the Beach Boys' 'Pet Sounds.'" "They use Brasky's foreskin as a tarp when it rains at Yankee stadium."
  15. Nice work as usual Don. You know how I love that Padauk!! Keep up the great work and I hope to hear them soon.
  16. I second Pete's opinion. That thing is a beauty. If it sounds as good as it looks, it's a bargain.
  17. Yep, you gotta love the good samaritans of the world[:S]. I really love the " I have no affiliation with the seller etc" samaritans." all they do is drive the price up by drawing a lot attention to a particular item. Believe me, anyone that is looking for something knows were to look and doesn't need it to pointed out to them. The seller would have been happy to get rid of them for $800, that's what they were worth to him. Since they came with the house and haven't been played in 15 years, that tells me that he doesn't care about them and wanted to get them out of the house. Klipschorns rarely become available within driving distance let alone in the same city. EDIT: Nothing wrong with giving the good people of this forum information on a nice deal. Also nothing wrong with giving a seller the heads up on the value of their item. Good luck.
  18. I just got the same system installed today and am impressed so far. They have a couple of issues to work out with my attic TV due to a split I have in my cable line, but I am confident they will take care of it. Moving to Dish Network is going to reduce my cable bill by over $40 per month from Time Warner - after the 10 month promo period - with an increase in services.
  19. Those Ramblin Rose cornies are freaking psychidelic. Absolutely the coolest speakers ever. Reminds me of my college days going to Dead show and living a cake life. Good Lord, those were the days!!
  20. Scott, Funny that you mentioned that as I felt the same way. It has definitely grown on me. I would, without hesitation, consider it a great Wilco album. Not sure if you are Uncle Tupelo or SonVolt fan, but the new Son Volt is their best in years (since 'Trace'). Enjoy.
  21. Josh, I have the CD as well and can't get enough Wilco. The guitar on 'Impossible Germany' with Jeff Tweedy and Nels Cline is nothing short of awesome. Great song and great disc/album. I also have alot of obscure Wilco stuff if you're interested. Very cool to include the CD with the vinyl.
  22. I hate to do it, but I need to sell these to pay some bills and take care of some things for my kids. The audio bug bit me very hard and I simply spent too much money that I should not have spent. I simply have no choice. These are as good as advertised and are a bargain at their new price. I will get pics up this weekend. Contact me if interested. I will do a very nice deal for a forum member. Thanks.
  23. Reddog5, I replied and have a sale pending on the Cornwalls. If anything falls through, you will be the first to know. Thanks for inquiring. VRDs still up for grabs. All fair offers considered to forum members. Will try Audiogon in a couple of weeks if no interest here. Thanks.
